Hey,

Any brands will do;
Budget around 5k maybe?;
Usage - graphic design stuffs 2D (photoshop, illustrator, flash animation, dreamweaver, SAI) 3D Maya Autodesk, a bit of gaming now and then (some offline Left4Dead or similar), internet browsing and usual student typing tasks;
Prefers a wider screen, but 14" screen is also good for me (: highly durable and if possible, light ones.

Need help! Please and thank you! biggrin.gif

I would suggest looking for bro Oscar for this, he has ready stock and knows his way around upgrading Dell units icon_rolleyes.gif

Might want to ask him what he can offer with a budget of RM5k as well brows.gif Who knows he might give you an XPS15 brows.gif brows.gif

Dedicated Oscar is dedicated! Awesome!
Will contact him soon enough. Thanks again. (:

Btw the one that you recommended me, is that he best to opt for, or are there any other options? (: please and thanks!

Well, for photo editing, its best to have a good screen; and for gaming, you'll need a decent GPU.
Unfortunately those with some of the good screens out there i.e. MBP 15 RD, Dell XPS 15, Dell Precision M3800 etc. are over your budget (RRP, at least) sad.gif

Thanks! So.. Im kinda opting for the dell inspiron 7000 you suggested earlier. And then i got someone PMed me saying that the 2D works on the dell is not really good. How would you say it? At least you know, to let me have a clear view on which to buy :/
*
Well, it depends on the "intensity" of your work. It is true that the i7 in the Inspiron 7000 is a power-saving type, but considering you want the slim and light notebook, putting in a quad core i7 will mean more nasty heat, and probably shorter lifespan hmm.gif
Photoshop works benefit most from the RAM (multitasking), CPU (rendering/processing) and SSD (faster load times).

Anyway, its not like the i7-4500U is weak or anything haha laugh.gif

If you want raw power, you might have to consider compromising on weight nod.gif
Go for the other notebooks suggested, but try to get an SSD, faster load times mean a lot haha... based on my own experience~

1. Preferred Brand: Dell or Asus(Or if there's any better and cheaper brand than both of these, please suggest. The reason why I might be choosing DELL is because of its warranty services. On the ASUS side, because they produce quite a few top notch laptop.)
2. Budget: RM3000 to RM3200 or below
3. Usage: Business + Some light AutoCAD designing
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14' or 15'

One last thing, since I'm going to use this laptop for some light AutoCAD designing, is 4GB or RAM enough to handle everything? Or should I just go with 8GB? Plus, I am planning to use this laptop up to 4.5 years or more. Also, I will bring this laptop around with me as I'm going to meet some customers and do some live presentation. So, any feedback will be very much appreciated. Thank you!  thumbup.gif

That is a solid suggestion, thank you. How about the internal storage, is it changeable? I would prefer more if the SSD and HDD storage capacity are larger. Are there any options other than that? How about the ASUS? I am also looking for a desktop for my office as well, I'm not sure whether should I go with a custom build or pre-build by DELL/ASUS/etc.. I remember I saw a thread similar to this except it's for desktop PC recommendation, but I just can't find it here. Because I will only do most of the AutoCAD work on my desktop PC in office, and light stuff for laptop.

Hi bro, im into adobe after effects and skyrim (and of course future games)

Is this spec good enough for me?

http://www.lelong.com.my/lenovo-ideapad-z5...4-04-Sale-P.htm

lenovo-ideapad-z510

Dealbreaker: must be > 15 inch, dedicated GPU, non-acer/hp, and using it for medium gaming and productivity.

Thank you.
