QUOTE(eddydo @ Dec 12 2013, 11:56 PM)
does the first 4 laptops you recommended (macbook, vaio, dell...) heats up quickly?

Hows the lenovo y510p's battery life?
*
the 4 laptop he recommend > 5 hours normal usage... macbook air 9 hours battery life normal usage

gaming laptop like lenovo y510p = max 3 hours battery normal usage, if gaming = less than 1 hour.... good luck...

and gaming and lightweight does not stays together

even y510p will heat up when you play games... just it have big heatsink and big big fans to blow the air out....

He did not recommend Mac, Sony or Dell....

Battery life should be similar to most laptops with 6 cell batteries. Don't expect anything extraordinary unless you are getting an ultrabook with ULV processor and only integrated graphics card smile.gif

in before this i recommended him 2 macs, a dell and a sony.

If you have a choice, which one would you pick between all the ones you recommended?

Macbook Pro 13 (im a mac hater). even though it uses ULV processor, the Iris graphics equipped is good enough for med gaming. it is light and has an amazing build quality. just if you wanted to play games, you need to do bootcamp.

by the way, i would still suggest you to go an experience the laptops yourself, because you dont know how the laptop looks like, you never experience it, hold it etc. so what i suggested here, is just to make a choice of list for you and do a research.

you cant compare notebook processor and desktop processor..  laugh.gif

4GB, 6GB, 8GB (DDR3) means the RAM that comes with the laptop. each laptop have 1 extra slot of ram.

4gb x 1 = have 1 stick of 4gb ram ( still have another slot for ram which you can upgrade in the future)
6gb = 4gb x 2gb ram -----> full slot.. no more.
8gb = 4gb x 4gb ram -----> full slot.. no more..
the different between 3rd gen and 4th gen is their architecture.. well... lazy explain those architecture..  laugh.gif  but based what we see in the market. mostly 4th gen, comes with ULV processor.. cz less battery drain.. give optimum performance... while 3rd gen... good performance but drain battery... but somehow.. gaming laptop that build for hardcore gamers does not have ULV processor... if it have.. it will bottleneck the performance.. gonna see drop of fps in high setting or ultra setting of the game. p/s: based on my summary reading about ULV 4th gen vs 3rd gen  whistling.gif

Y510p graphic card and N56JR graphic card is on par.. the different is not much..

The GeForce GT 755M and the GeForce GTX 760M have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The GeForce GT 755M has 16 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GTX 760M, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce GT 755M is slightly better than the GeForce GTX 760M.

In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 760M are massively better than the Nvidia GeForce GT 755M.

so..between lenovo y510p and asus n56jr.. i gonna pick n56jr.. cz have 12gb ram. (8gb x 4gb).

illeager re-15 also good. may i know your budget? so, i assume you prefer i7 processor isnt it..?

Hi guys,

I am looking for an Ultrabook and would really appreciate feedbacks and recommendations.

1. Preferred Brand
- No brand in specific
2. Budget
- 1.8K - 2.3K
3. Usage
- Basic usage, most important traits is Best touchscreen experience (includes responsiveness, great hinge support
etc. Dont wish for a laptop that would tumble upon heavy usage of its touchscreen), Lightweight + Portability and
of course given an option, decent battery life.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
- 14" - 15"

I have been looking at either HP Envy 4, Acer Aspire V5 and the Asus Vivobook S400. Does any sifu has anything feedback to offer me? Thanks guys.
