Precision for my CAD work  brows.gif

What I dont like Y410P is the screen... the color seen dull compare to Dell...
And only highest brightness level is acceptable. sweat.gif

i worry Y510P will having same issue as 410P

p/s : This new laptop will replace my current for editing photo.
Major usage
- Photoshop CS6
- Adope Premier Pro - Video editing

Any good suggest for above usage?

For editing work, its better to get a notebook with a better screen yo hmm.gif
Depending on your budget, you can opt for Dell Inspiron 15 7000, XPS 15, Precision M3800; Illegear notebook with screen upgrade; HP ZBook all the way up to MacBookPro 15 Retina Display nod.gif

Not really sure whether its possible to get a 15" workstation for RM5k  hmm.gif
The HP Elitebook and ZBook starts from RM6.2k...
As for Dell Precisions, information is restricted by Dell, you'll have to contact them directly  nod.gif

Dell precision m3800 starts RM6888 (rrp)

Hi, thanks for the recommendations. That is quite a long list I must say.

To be frank I have been a Sony vaio user for the past 12 years, and I may be biased towards Sony but I am keeping my option opened.

How about the SVF13N17PGB? What is your take on this?
*
how about 13" Retina MacBook Pro?

MacBookPro 13" (Retina Display), i5-4288U + Intel Iris 5100 + 512GB SSD + (2560x1600)@RM5899[1.57kg], 8GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX

can configure the processor (to core i7), ram (to 16gb) or ssd (to 1TB SSD) to fullfil your budget...

Hi guys,

Sorry to bother again...

After going through the huge list of bad experiences with Asus SC, decided against Asus. (Even though I am quite interested in the new N550jk...)

And also illegear takes too long for me to get one...

May I know is v7-582pg-74501225 from Acer recommended?

How is the after sales support of Acer( currently situated in JB)?

As a refresh:

1) no Mac, dell or hp (gen 4 Intel only)
2) <4k
3) 15.6" screen preferably 1920x1080 ips
4) good sound system
5)ssd
6) will be used for gaming, music, movies, and possibility of 3d engineering software...

Thanks and sorry for the trouble...

These perhaps?
Acer
15.6"
V7-582PG-74508G52k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3399[2.2kg], 8GB, W8
V7-582PG-74501225k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 256GB SSD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3999[2.2kg], 12GB, W8.1

15 inchers lower than 2kg are rare

If you are into heavy usage (gaming, 3D etc.), its best to sacrifice in terms of weight nod.gif
Light and slim notebooks are not good in heat dissipation = hot, and hot notebooks won't last long

I would recommend this one instead (Not IPS; but not too heavy and bulky):
15"
Dell Inspiron 15 7000, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + (1920x1080; Touch)@RM3599[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL, backlit keyboard, 58Whr

Again, look for bro Oscar here to get a better deal. He has ready stock imho: https://www.facebook.com/pages/DellAlienwar...1751731?fref=ts

Some of the new MSI systems are quite good also, but they will need some time to arrive

Hi, its me again.. sweat.gif Need advice for choosing a laptop
For budget around 4k, i will use the laptop mainly for

1) heavy gaming
2) movies(full hd)
3) animation, graphic design(adobe) and video production
4) screen size preferably 15.6 or larger than 15.6

Would you suggest me to get the GE70-2PE-095MY? or is there any recommendation? Because i heard that cooling is not so good for GE series
And can you please advice a bang for buck 128gb ssd for GE70-2PE and give me the quotation? Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

If you don't mind getting a 17" notebook then yes, the MSI GE70 is a good pick nod.gif
Larger notebooks tend to be cooler than smaller ones too, so its an advantage, as long as you are okay with the size nod.gif
But do take note that these new MSI lineups might take some time to come. And I think with its large profile, there should be enough space for you to throw in the SSD without having to remove the original HDD (Better double-check; otherwise can consider getting an MSATA SSD).

I'm not a seller laugh.gif Cannot quote haha
Do refer to the pricelist on the main page of lowyat.net icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion.

Is the hdd upgradable?
Just found out that the Acer model isn't, can't change the hdd to ssd... I wanted the laptop to have a ssd instead of hdd.

Is the screen matte or glossy? FHD? I think I am ok to sacrifice ips screen as long as the screen looks good.

How is the sound system?

Sorry if I am asking abit too much. Kinda noob to all this.
Had to do my research from scratch.

14"
Lenovo
Ideapad Flex 14, i3-4010U + Nvidia GT720M +(1366x768; touch) + 8GB SSHD + 500GB HDD@RM1799, 4GB, W8, 2 yrs; color: black

The SSHD will give you a boost in terms of performance  thumbup.gif Will end up faster than couterparts without one ~
*

Unfortunately the sifus here don't have the privilege of trying out each and every model out there laugh.gif
In short, we know as little as you do haha, have to research as well nod.gif
Read review here (spec may differ): http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-I...k.104976.0.html
Yes the HDD should be upgradable. Speakers were reported to be pretty decent.
Screen is FullHD glossy, don't think our variant is IPS panel, have to check on that. But according to bro Oscar (MBP15 RD user), the screen is excellent icon_rolleyes.gif

You don't need a dedicated GPU if you don't game or run 3D softwares nod.gif
But mots 15 inchers come with a dGPU anyway laugh.gif

Satellite L50-A100X/XW, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199[Onkyo], 4GB, 750GB, W8SL; 3 years local warranty; colors:silver/white

*Prices in RRP
Do take note that the performance of these machines will not be as snappy as the Flex 14 recommended earlier.
Personally I think the Toshiba L50 is a great choice because of its 3 years warranty standard. Of course, you could also upgrade to 3 years on-site for the Dell too icon_rolleyes.gif
