Well the first thing that comes to my mind for long batt life is the macbook pro or macbook air,
but since u wanted w8.1 i guess ur best bet would be the

ThinkPad T440p, i5-4200H + Intel HD4600 + 16GB mSATA + 1TB HDD@RM4139, 4GB, W7P+W8P, 3 years

Do note probably u can haggle on the OS preferences,

OR if you want to, u could get a macbook pro and bootcamp windows OS in it,
that way u can get ur battery life longer, but u wont have touchscreen on the mbp
*
Thanks for your kind advice. thumbup.gif

First of all, Mac is not my choice for sure as Im abit against to learn new OS as many things seem so different.

Is ThinkPad a good choice? It look quite classic in design to me, but I am ok if it is strong in performance rclxms.gif
What do you think of its batt can last long for how many hours? 5Hrs possible? (Pls spare me for being noob as I totally have no idea about these knowledge)
W7P+W8P means what? Why it comes with two versions of Windows OS? For user's preference in case they prefer to use W7?
Lastly, the screen is upgradeable to touch screen or what? If yes, how much would it cost extra for the difference in between?

p/s: Wondering why ThinkPad T440P and Y410P price gap so much different even the cheaper one is carrying an i7? Bcoz of the Intel graphic card?

No i wont spare u. I will murder u and throw vulgar words at u. Hahaha jkjk smile.gif
Anyway so macs are off the table now the y410p vs t440p

Based on what i read. U can get up to 8 hours of browsing. Im not sure myself as to what setting its using but it is plausible. Managed to get 7hours of browsing with my old acer 4820tg using med setting. So the t440p should handle it well. And also the y410p is aimed more for the gaming side due to the dedicated graphic card but has no touch capability.

The t440p comes in with touchscreen u dont have to add (i might be wrong please double check with ur seller) and the w7 + w8 suggests its possible on both platform meaning drivers are available (do check again with ur seller to see in which side does it come with)

Acer do any good, heard from friends easy to rosak?

Based on my personal experience never had any breaks with all my acer laptops (total around 5-6), its all a matter of luck i guess but if u dont want to gamble go for dell (easy claim warranty and on site support)

1. Preferred Brand : any
2. Budget : rm3K
3. Usage : need a laptop for my win8 smartphone app development training (programming i guess)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : >13', light weight and long battery hours if possible. I dont need good speakers or FHD since I'd be using my desktop for entertainment. Just need it for training purpose.
Thank you for your time.

Wakaka... I let u slash my photo's neck if u really wanna lepas geram la tongue.gif I will remain immortal in real life and can give u slash second, third time and so forth lol!!! bcoz I owe you once due to the favor of input. notworthy.gif

Uhmm, 8Hrs is more than enough. Im thinking of 6hours if possible as sometimes really cant find power point then it can really allow me to accomplish my task while I am travelling outstation. Since you've mentioned that Y410P is more suitable for gaming purpose, I'd rather chose T440P then, coz I don't wanna buy another 'toy' to get myself addicted into the mud again lol!! (I can simply get addicted into a game, easily!!)

If you have any nice seller to recommend to me, I can go for him too. Im going to Harvey Norman/ computer shop in mall to check for this particular model now.

Thank you so much, bro Kivaa... for advising us generously. You are good man, good luck will be with you always, LOL! biggrin.gif

after doing some google search, i realize IPS+matte display & i7 quad core should be what I'm supposed to look for..especially for designers. right?
My work seems to be more intense on video editting, 3D animations rather than 2D stuffs with photoshop bla bla..

I do realize laptops with IPS display cost a bomb. I wonder would there be one that fits such requirement, by any chance? Assume I could push my budget to 3.5-4k

1. Preferred Brand - Asus, Lenovo, Dell, old model or second-hand is ok
2. Budget - 1.8-2K
3. Usage - light to medium gaming (don't mind set settings to low), game emulation, movies (not 1080p)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 15"
5. Preferred specs - Intel i7
Basically finding the cheapest Intel i7 with 15" screen, other specs not so important

For a 15" intel i7 spec with a 2k budget.. Is very tight and hard to find.. U could prolly find some used models but i hardly dont recommend it.. If u could bump it up to 2.5k u could have some option.. The norm for this spec goes from 2.5k to 2.9k

the main reason you pay more for the T440 is the materials and build quality is different than what a Y410P can do; they do it to maintain the weight and durability (most important factor for businessmen). so performance is sacrificed in business grade notebooks.

and do remember, Lenovo Thinkpad, Dell Latitude/Vostro, HP Elitebook/Probook, ASUS PRO mustn't be compared with multimedia and other consumer grade laptops.
