All consumer class 15" laptop with HD+ (1600x900) or above screen has discrete GPU, except this, which is above your budget:

Dell
XPS 15, i5-4200H + Intel HD 4400 + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)+ (1920x1080; Touch)@RM4999 [2.0kg], 8GB, W8.1SL, backlit keyboard, 61Whr

You seems to be a photographer. Photoshop (certain features) and other graphic software actually can take advantage of discrete GPU. You may appreciate IPS screen or TN screen with good colour gamut.
Can consider these:

Acer
V7-582PG-74508G52k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3399[2.2kg], 8GB, W8
Asus
N550JV-CN077H, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080; IPS matte)@RM3699[2.7kg], 4GB, 1TB, W8, backlit keyboard
Dell
Inspiron 15 7000, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + (1920x1080; Touch)@RM3599[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL, backlit keyboard, 58Whr

Prices are RSP, negotiable.

if the discrete GPU kick in, no.
if run on Intel IGPU, decent, close to 5-6 hours, normal surfing.

can disable the gpu when not needed?

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-I...k.104976.0.html

Is this the laptop? i noticed that this is the higher specs provided instead of the only specs provided in malaysia.

6 hours on wifi, trustable?

okay few more questions!

Does watching 720p or 1080p (both youtube and downloaded) triggers the GPU instead of using the iGPU?

Did some research but i can't find a solid answer. rclxub.gif icon_question.gif

大家好,我回来了~ cool2.gif

1. Preferred Brand
Doesn't matter as long as it fulfill my requirements!

2. Budget
Around Rm3000, but of course can save money then save sweat.gif sweat.gif

3. Usage
College work, dota 2, photoediting when travelling, movie(most probably would be using a headphone), photoshop and more more (i cannot think) rclxub.gif

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
14" or 15.6"
Long lasting battery for college
Good wifi cause college got free wifi thumbup.gif
Light weight of course, but no need that light also can.
Durable, at least 4 years!
Prefer SSD. (got a external hdd for storage)
Possible with FHD, but i think HD will do just fine. right? flex.gif
I got a desktop already, just need a portable one for college.

谢谢大哥哥们。 wub.gif

I suppose a 14" notebook will be a better pick if you are looking for portability nod.gif
Unfortunately most notebooks at that price range doesn't come with SSD, you'll have to install one yourself (and get one more external HDD! laugh.gif)

*use remaining budget to upgrade to 3 years warranty; up to 8GB RAM at least; upgrade HDD to SSD (should be able to get 128-256GB SSD depending on which model you pick) ~

For the screen quality, you're going to have to go and check out which one is more suitable/accurate for your photo editing, cause notebooks of this price range usually only have normal screen ~

Wow thanks! will check them out. just wondering ya , I was looking at Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series 7537 due to its good review of battery life and it has a fhd screen but in the other hand it is heavy, do you think it is a good buy?

The Inspiron 15 7000 with FHD is RM3.6k oh bro hmm.gif
The RM2.9k variant, on the other hand, doesn't have FHD...
if  you are really interested in the Inspiron 7000 series, go for the 14" one.. it may not have FHD, but at least it comes with mSATA stock. But of course, it doesn't have a dedicated GPU either- not a big problem if you are not playing GPU intensive games  icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah that price is shocking too. there are two models, one without fhd and one with. but the one with fhd cost a bomb and without msata sad.gif

ADD:
What about Lenovo U430? looks promising

http://www.ipmart.com.my/main/product/Leno...php?prod=401469

Interested in the FHD,8GB ram version instead but i can't find it...

New models come out all the time, if you can wait, wait  nod.gif
U430T? Depends on what you are using it for..
Its not very capable as a gaming machine if that's what you're looking for  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Hmm..
i like it because its light and have long hours of battery life. looks nice too.
with a 8GB ram upgrade, it sits nicely under the 3k budget.
The games i'm gonna play on it is just dota 2.

Should i go for it?
or is there really other better choices?

The previous recommendation looks so so in reviews only yawn.gif
