Hi all, I'm a 408 1.6T user living in bangkok thailand. Not many pug owners here but im proud to own one.

I've been. Using for almost 2 years now and my first battery with yokohama was already gone, changed during my 10k mileage. Now my car is at 25k and I need some information. I'm not sure if my second battery is about to die as when I now turn my car steering wheels, my headlight will be dimmed, and once my steering wheel stop turning then headlight become normal, I never really notice but today I see so I'm not sure if it is normal or not so can anyone of you share information if this is normal or sign of battery about to die?

Once the engine is started the alternator supplies all electrical loads. The battery goes into a charge mode, meaning it will be charged by the alternator.  Your problem is coming from the cars electrical system.  IMO your problem could be due to a faulty relay in the electrical system. These relays are responsible for proper supply of electrics for the operation of various components. There is more than one relay. SC will be able to diagnose the faulty relay. Replacement is simple. Once diagnosed,it's a matter of pulling it out and pushing in a good one.

Thank you all for your reply, this means it is not normal for headlight to be dimmed right? Does it happen to your cars as well or no? Anyway I will send my car to sc right when they open for service and hope during these two days my car won't come to a stop sad.gif

That is not normal, head light should not dim. Does not happen on my car which is also the 408T. I don't think it will cause your car to come to a stop, but it's best to get it fixed assp.

Btw how is Peugeot service support in Thailand.

Thanks for information. Im at the SC now sending my car for check and waiting for result. Peugeot service in Thailand is the same as what you all are facing in Malaysia, it got worst during last 5 years when the previous dealer was operating PEUGEOT THAILAND. I used to own 406 and had to sell it due to bad service from SC.

Until the last couple year when the FRENCH head office noticed a bad operation and then they send their own FRENCH people to operate for PEUGEOT THAILAND now named as EUROPEAN MOTORCARS. Service improved and sales improved a lot and thats why i bought 408T. I really Love Peugeot cars as i think its a lot better comparing with other cars in the same segment! I have many cars with me and PUG is my most favorite!

As for 408T, i have used for 25k now and till now happy with the car and its efficiency, i had my battery dead and then got new one changed without cost from SC. Then i had sensor issues where i believe you all also faced the same and then got it changed as well.

Also my water pump failed during 20k and got changed under warranty. Water pump failure is common in 408T owner in Bangkok.

For the current issue im waiting for result from SC and shall give you update of what the cause of problem is.

PUG 408 NA cost 1090000 baht and PUG 408T cost 1290000 baht. Recently just launched 408 SPORTIUM cost 1390000 baht(same model as 408 GRIFFE)

Anyway, wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR and glad to have such forums where i can share information. Hope you all accept me as one of the members!

P.S - attached are some of my DIY modifications i made myself!

Bro kob1488, very glad to have you as a member of our group. All the problems you have had are similar to ours. That will be the case as all 408s for ASEAN is assembled in Malaysia. Peugeot support and service in Malaysia has improved a lot as compared to previous agent. Of course there's all ways room for more improvement.  As more and more Peugeots are sold the challenge will be greater. I hope the agent in Malaysia realizes this is good and steps up to the plate.

I've had my car for 18months. Other than battery change no other problems. Thought I had a leaky water pump. That wasn't the case. Your DIY looks great, well done.

The prices for 408s in Thailand appear pretty much the same as in Malaysia.

Keep us posted on your problem. Thank you.

Thankyou! As for the problem identified was again due to battery failure and not performing well. Got new one changed by sc without cost. Picking up the car tomorrow as i let the sc do wheel alignment as well. Thought delkor battery would last but not really. Sc said maybe the one i got was a defect one do they had put a new one for me, but still delkor brand. So this is my third battery now...

I am surprised it's the battery again. Especially since the source of electrics at the time of your problem is not from the battery. Did the SC do a systems diagnosis. Anyway tks for the alert.  Most of us have gone on to 2nd battery. I guess that is an item to keep an eye on.

I changed my battery 6 months ago,OK till now. Anyone here having problems with 2nd battery? jessyeo was 1st to go on 2nd battery. Any feedback?

yes, the SC had made full diagnosis and no sign of any electric problem other than battery not providing enough voltage, Once they changed the battery everything returned normal. Yea i think it is good to monitor your battery constanly.

Saw this from Peugeot Club Malaysia FB,  water pump problem for 408. Please take note. The owner claimed replacement under warranty.

Mileage 25k..symptom: coolant level drop even after topup.

Hi Guys,

Is the 408T reliable? I mean does it give alot problems? Coz like i see through this forum there is some issues with the car. Like water pump, the 3rd break light.

And also i notice, the car has the "Pull to left" problem. Is this a normal thing for the 408T? How to rectify???

Thank you very much.
*
This is normal for all cars, no brands are perfect and its ok to have a bit of defect as long as the car remains reliable and efficient and i believe 408 is a considered to be real efficient comparing to other cars in the same segment and the problems we all face is not something big and its all under warranty which you have nothing to worry about.

did the coolant level issue(i.e too low) will be alert on the dashboard screen?
*
As for mine, I had a warning shown on dashboard, then I check my coolant level it was low, I refill it and use but after 3 days it pop up warning log again so I send to sc to check and found that water pump was having problem so they replaced new one and problem was gone.

Surely there will be alert if coolant is too low.
