Hi, there were some corrosive bird droppings on the car and i tried to use polish/wax/scratch remover to get rid of it but it became worst (there might be fine dust on the cloth too i guess). Any suggestions on how to remove the fine scratches? Although it's not so obvious and can been seen at certain angles only, i feel sad tongue.gif

A cheap and quick solution if you already have a normal drill is to get the small 125mm Bosch sponge that looks like this;

Ace Hardware sells them for RM 23 if I'm not wrong. It comes packaged in a box.

Attach to the end of a drill bit (spinning motion, not in hammer mode), put a few drops of Meguairs Swirl X, Scratch X or Ultimate Polish Compound on the sponge and polish on the surface that has those fine scratches.

Be careful not to over do it. No excessive force required. Control the speed of the rotation with the the drill trigger. After running over the surface back and forth for 10 to 15 seconds, stop and check to see the condition of the scratches. Repeat a few times when required.

I personally use this method when I'm doing localised spot correction and don't want to mess with bringing out the RB. Some times if not careful, a big and powerful tool like the RB can do more damage that is not intended when you just need a simple solution.

I actually got the Meguairs DA Power System. Expensive but ok lar if you want to do small spot correction. But the correction power is slower because it's a DA.

Thanks for the tip smile.gif

i am a victim of such "property damage" almost every week without fail.

it's not the cloth that caused this, it's the bird droppings. next time if you have something like that, first wet a lump of tissue and then just leave it over the droppings. let it gets soft before you wipe off gently, try to prevent any hard pressure on the paint. the bird droppings sometimes have hard particles in them in which if you just wipe them off (applying pressure) will cause scratches like these.

black paints are prone to things like this.

Well, i only saw this after the car was washed (a day later). Initially there were no scratches but i could see the bird dropping layer on the paint after the wash. That is when i tried to polish it and the scratches appeared.

Next time, i will clean it immediately with the wet tissue. smile.gif
