I guess we can gather all the basic knowledge about detailing and put it in the FAQs so that newbie like me wont have to repeat the same question over and over again

i saw in this thread (V2 or V1) if im not mistaken someone asking about TW rinseless wash. Anybody of u guys use it? when i search in the net, saw that the price was RM30++ but i did found it at JJ and ACE but it cost nearly RM50 if i'm not mistaken, from the review i've read, it's produced almost similar end result as ONR. The price is definitely cheaper compared to ONR and DG....is it worth it?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I will not expect the result to be exactly same as ONR since the price already almost half the price of ONR. You got it from Tesco? what is the price? is it RM30++? i saw it at JJ last time its RM50++ (pack with the MF Cloth)...but we have to use 4oz of TWRF per 2 gallon of water compared to 1oz of ONR...i guess if we take that into calculate...its still almost the same price as ONR |

QUOTE(Brijesh @ Dec 4 2013, 05:11 PM) Thank you very much dear friend. I need to learn about this CLAY process. not familair with it. i read saying that after apply polish, if got excess need to immediately wipe off, means shouldn't be too thick layer la ? this motion is in circular motion right ? i am all using hand, not machine wor. I'm a noobie also...but imo is better to use mf cloth to touch your car...especially on washing part...never use a rag or the old cloth as u might ended with scratching the car..Step 6 need to use car detergent wash again ? Step 8 buff means also wipe off in circular motion right ? Another sponge for what ya ? to apply the polish / wax is it ? isn't it apply on the car with finger then wipe in circular motion ? Don't get which cloth come near the car ? 2 MF clothes are used to only wipe off the polish & wax separately right ? Maybe we should do a TT so can enjoy pampering the car together. Step 1 - wash & clean thoroughly (sponge + 1 mf to dry off) Step 2 - clay Step 3 - wash (a simple one would do) Step 4 - dry (use the same mf at #1) Step 5 - polish with the TW Polishing Compound (with a little pressure) until you're satisfied (or too tired to continue.... sweat.gif ) and immediately *gently* wipe off (applicator pad + 1mf to buff off) Step 6 - wash again (a simple one enough, I mean...the car is already clean right...) Step 7 - dry (use the same mf as #1) Step 8 - apply TW Paste Wax -> leave to dry -> buff off (applicator pad + 1mf) Imo...minimum u have to use 3 mf cloth, 1 sponge, and 2 applicator pad...if u can use more clean mf is better This post has been edited by haushinka: Dec 4 2013, 05:46 PM |

QUOTE(g88 @ Dec 4 2013, 05:58 PM) For an enthusiast, they will use washmitt (very particular) in washing instead using SPONGE as 99% of the swirl or scrat come from washing/drying (not to mention washing/drying technique) Yes bro..u are right..i would rather use the mf cloth to wash the car compared to sponge.. So for bro brijesh...better buy lots of mf cloth or the washmitt hehehe |

QUOTE(g88 @ Dec 25 2013, 09:42 PM) looking at your 'need' and play of staying (condo right) ? i think you dun need any machinery at all..Once you have tools, pad will be the next crazy thing you going to hunt for (so many branded and type our there from polishing, finishing, cutting, mild, heavy pad)...then product also...different type of polisher with different level of cutting power... Absolutely same as my case....staying in the high rise apartment...initially tried to correct the defect using hand...damn hard, tiring n time consuming...even the result unable to meet my expactation..appreciate if sifu here can recommend any tools with acceptable price range (300-400 (machine only)) and good for noobie like me I tell you what, why NOT you want for next DIT session....let's all the sifu bring their gear do it together with you and from there you just continue with maintenance etc...washing, waxing etc. |

Dear sifus,
Just wondering are u guys planning for another DIT session? I just bought a new toy (bosch ROB) with a basic pads (CCS orange, white & black). Just done detailing my car last weekend (took me 9 hrs to complete it) due to my noobness in handling the machine...the result is quite good. Its not that good as i only manage to remove 60-70 percent of the swirl..somemore the etching caused by the bird poo and the scratch from the fingernail scratch are still there. The steps that ive took as below: 1) wash the car with tw rnw 2) clayed with the PG #1 3) compounding using the UC with orange pad 4) polishing using the UP with white pad 5) wax the car with tw ultra gloss platinum series using the black pad I really hope to learn the detailing methid and how to handle the ROB machine from sifu here...will gladly join any DIT session organize by u guys Pic after done with the polishing steps prior to apply the LSP. Apologize for the quality of the picture as im not good at capturing it |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ May 20 2014, 08:45 AM) Nice finish....great start...I love dripping wet black coloured car. The thing about the Bosch ROB//LC Orange//UC is you'd need quite a few passes to remove deeper defects like water spot etchings, bird poo etchings and scratches. Not to worry cuz sometimes, even with a rotary, you'd need more than one pass for them. 9 hrs is not bad to finish doing 2 steps on one whole car with the Bosch. It would have taken me 2 days..... Thanks for the compliment sifu krismas...btw yes i only did 1 pass per panel...and only maintain with the speed 3 for compounding/polishing. Do u think i can increase the speed to 4 or 5 next time? One more thing...i noticed that i can only apply light pressure as if i put more pressure the pad will stop...is it the light pressure can remove the defect with a few passess? |

QUOTE(roxx @ May 22 2014, 09:28 PM) I was thinking the same too as at the moment im using carnauba wax and with our current weather and looking at the beading on my car now (almost a week my car protected by the wax), i highly doubt the wax could last more than a month on my car...Correct me if im wrong..but to apply the aio monthly to strip off the current wax prior to apply a new 1 should be safe right? |

QUOTE(GRexer @ May 23 2014, 12:38 AM) Most AIO(s) has cleaner or mild abrasives/polish in them. Hence, they'll clean off whatever's on the surface when being worked on. Sifu Grexer,Most of the time, old wax/sealant gets removed as well in the process, but, permanent coatings(those that crystallise) are safe, though I would be wondering why would you want to AIO on coatings. If ur post was referring to me...are the wax (conventional wax) considered as permanent coating? If yes, is there any other ways to clean off the current wax before i apply a new one? I know the clay or using dishwash detergent can strip off the wax...but since im living in high rise building (using nr to wash my car) its kinda difficult for me to use the normal method to wash my car...and as for clay i also tot its not recommended to do it often as it can inflict swirl? Or should i apply a new wax on top of the existing one without stripping off the current? |

QUOTE(roxx @ May 23 2014, 12:18 AM) Bro roxx,Yes the AIO do provide mild protection though..but it is recommended to put pure wax/sealant after u use the AIO for better protection..maybe sifu in here can give better explaination This post has been edited by haushinka: May 23 2014, 02:02 AM |

QUOTE(nig3l @ Jun 7 2014, 01:27 PM) Ok! Thanks for the input. I'll Are u planning to polish the car by ur own if the test spot success? If yes u can try and get well known brand such as meguiars etc. If u plan to do a test spot then send it to the shop to polish 1whole car...i think cheap AIO suchs as soft99 would do for u..Try spot polishing and see if it works Any brand of the shelf to recommend ? |

QUOTE(KIntos @ Jun 8 2014, 08:51 AM) Hi guys/gals, Is it dented? I dont think the u can touch up by ur own unless u got the tools like paint shop have as it looks like a long scratch...normally ppl will only touch up the stone chip not the long scratch..it will worsen the defect if u did not do it properly...Can i directly put touch up paint on my accident car to prevent rust until i go toyota body and paint to repair it? Or u all have better option beside touch up. [attachmentid=4004397] Better u polish that area to minimize the scratch whilr waiting to send ur car to profesional. |

QUOTE(KIntos @ Jun 8 2014, 12:28 PM) Yup dented and lower carriage is the worst and deep scratches. Just afraid it will rust on the lower carriage. IMO it wont get rusty if the scratch is not too deep. But Im not too sure about it...it will depends on the environment of ur place oso..if u park the car 24/7 under porch or covered car park...it would not be a problem i think...besides, how long u gonna wait to send it to respray? 1 month? 6 month? |
