I tried to build a foam gun and FAILED 

I tried to build myself a foam gun that attaches to a regular garden hose like the Gilmour Foammaster 2.

I assemble the kit from ACE Hardware, comprises of 2 things; 1) solution bucket 2) hose gun.

Once assemble it look this.


However it did not produce any foam, just water. On their website it showed foam!

I have a hunch why it's not working but does anyone know why? More importantly how to make it work?

Forget about the 'foamer' in ACE. I've tried 3 types: the gilmore, the one shown above and another one which is for cleaning windows or something. What came out was something more like a soap mix (which is what they're suppose to be) instead of foam.

I think the part that contributed the most for the foam is the one in the red square. It's some sort of compacted metal mesh.

Managed to get a sample of D114, been using it at 1:32, cleans well, but strips my D156 spray wax. So I decided to...

...put in an order of D115, which is at customs now waiting for clearance. Just in time for water rationing LOL. If water becomes a bigger problem here maybe Hypercoat will bring it in one day.

Shipping was almost as expensive as the products though...

P/S: Also ordered a gallon of D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream (AIO) which I won't be able to finish so if anybody wants to share some let me know.

FYI, Jusco in 1u for Turtlewax is having discount 20%, and others brands as well, you may try have a look from there. Besides, I have go down to car accessories shop (beside foot court, forgot the name), there is no discount at all, but they have promotion for Turtle brand of products by displaying outside near counter..

May I know Kit and Turtle, which one is good for Wax??

Electric ones are max about 140 barg. Pressure is one thing. Flow rate is another. The higher the flow rate and pressure, the more expensive it becomes. Higher pressure type is usually for professional / industrial usage and are usually gas powered. But nowadays you can even buy the electric powered professional / industrial usage like the Karcher HD series.

The other part of the PW equation is the different lances. There are normal ones like the Vario Power lance is for washing normal stuff and the more powerful type for washing stubborn dirt on walls, roof tiles and floors is with the Dirtblaster lance. That one can rip your skin from your flesh.

That's what I do lah. Wash car porch, windows, unclogging drains etc. But not toilet lah. How to wash toilet if upstairs? But if you're going to be doing those stuff, you need a slightly higher rated PW. The less than RM 500 Karcher PW series are for light duty stuff.
Engine compartment preferably use normal water garden water hose pressure. Dangerous to use PW as it can make water go into places you do not want it to go.

i think the wax is more towards focused on protection.

i noticed if you use the touching test method, the BSD will have squeaks and doesn't have that smooth feeling that the ULW (or UPW) gives.
granted, the UQW topping off the ULW does provide really awesome beads while ULW alone doesn't really does that much.

that and i've noticed the wax can really absorb/protect dirt/dust before it reaches the clear coat or even messing up the glaze underneath.
(refer to the doodle google plus post i've made, where my friends doodled' on the car when it was very dusty)
or even the random cat paws pushing dust/dirt around as it trampled all over my car.

i think it's been debated/discussed many a times that, beading/sheeting isn't the be all end all when it comes to protection. and the thicker/waxier/smoother feel of the ULW will attest to that despite having inferior beading/sheeting qualities.

personally i don't think i'd wait for my UQW to finish, i still love the east of application and the water beading of it

and it's ok, i've come to terms that speeding and detailing aren't the best of friends and i have to embrace it's shortcomings if i were to continue dealing with both.
that's what you get for going over 200kph a lot

and nah, not going to do anything.
maybe after a few months i'll do another full detailing project again to compound/polish everything.
