QUOTE(aromachong @ Jan 17 2014, 09:21 AM) hmm can use thinner/tupin to clean too? more effective? or use RAINX that use to clean our windscreen? (guess this will have effect because it's acid) ? rain x is not a cleaner. and rain x is not acidic.

Just wondering guys, saw Aeon Jusco selling Black and Decker KP600 for only RM199 (FOC car vacuum some more.)It is really worthy? Wanna play with something cheaper first before exploring further. Please advice

Anyone tried this before? It works like spray wax. Just spray after washing car even when car is wet, and wipe it dry. Seems good in repelling water. This post has been edited by OhNooy: Jan 19 2014, 10:44 PM

If you're on a budget, give it some time and find an additional RM150 and get the Bosch GEX 125 AE.

Thank you for the feedback. So it's the same model as posted by bro g88. May i ask why this is recommended? Is there anything within the same price range as the Bosch GEX 125 AE?

Not sure if there's anything else in that price range...unless you want to get a rotary polisher (China brands). The Bosch (the older model that's been superseded by this one) has been commonly used and accepted by many detailing enthusiasts as a reliable and useful machine for light correction work (polishing) and for applying waxes/sealants. And with the advancement of polishes/compounds and pads, it could actually do more than it was able to as compared to decades ago when it first came out.
I've heard of many who had started getting into detailing as a hobby and bought the B&D but, soon enough, 'upgraded' to the Bosch (or rotary) due to the lack of it's ability to do anything else but applying waxes/sealants.

Hi guys, i had go through the thread these few days. But I still had no idea on how to start. Which brand should i go? If i go for meguiars, where can i get it and which product should i go for?
I plan to polish and wax with hand. Is that ok? and must use sponge to do it? or Microfibre cloth is enough? and will the hand polish and wax cause more swirl mark?
And what product should I get for rim cleaning? Its was super dark and thick with dirt. Normal car wash will just get the cloth become dark and not clean at all. Hard to remove.
Beside, how to clean and polish the car engine? and use the wax or interior cleaning product to rub over it? can wash with water? Anyway to do it?
What about windscreen? I notice that some of the rain repellent will cause damage to the wiper and what is rain x? and any product that i can use so that it does the water repellent effect?
So far these are my question. Hopefully all the sifu can help me out of this. Sorry for bad English and thanks in advance.

QUOTE(g88 @ Jan 20 2014, 11:45 PM) Get M135. Detailer series of UQD or get gallon of ONR > Dilute is as QD. The ONR sounds like the most economical way How do you go about wiping it? Just spray on and wipe? I notice that my mf cloth gets super dirty even though I washed my car like 2 days before. And I'm super paranoid about getting hairline scratches or swirl marks. Another question is what do you do about the mud near the wheel arches?

I'd normally shut one eye and wait for the weekend to do my normal routine wash. If you're really OCD then there's one thing that you should know - the more you touch the paint and higher the risk/chance to get the swirls, etc. QUOTE(cslance @ Jan 20 2014, 11:43 PM) Hi guys, i had go through the thread these few days. But I still had no idea on how to start. Which brand should i go? If i go for meguiars, where can i get it and which product should i go for? A: You can go for Meguiars, Mothers, Duragloss, 3M, Sonax or any other established brands, even soft99 would be a good start, just to get to know the products and their usage. I would suggest Duragloss if you're looking for value for money and don't mind to spend a little bit more than the 'normal' off-the-shelf local brands. You can google and find the local on-line sellerI plan to polish and wax with hand. Is that ok? and must use sponge to do it? or Microfibre cloth is enough? and will the hand polish and wax cause more swirl mark? A: By hand is fine, as long as you can afford the time and strength to do it, cuz it's gonna get *very* tiring if you plan to finish one whole car. Oh...and sounds like you'd need to do more reading up and get more info on polishes, wax, etc. and how to use them. Try google for videos/youtube on polishing and waxing. Meguiars do lots and lots of informative videos on them and it's a good place to start. And what product should I get for rim cleaning? Its was super dark and thick with dirt. Normal car wash will just get the cloth become dark and not clean at all. Hard to remove. A: I think you're referring to those stain caused by brake dust, etc. If you haven't 'properly' wash them from start, you'd need something stronger but safe to 'properly' clean them. In your case, I would suggest something like Megs Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner or Sonax Xtreme Acid-Free Wheel Cleaner or the like. Use a soft bristle brush to agitate or microfiber cloth to clean them. Next wash should be easier and you can use any all purpose cleaner.Beside, how to clean and polish the car engine? and use the wax or interior cleaning product to rub over it? can wash with water? Anyway to do it? A: This would largely depends on what car. Normally it'll be quite safe to water-wash Japan/Korean cars' engine. You might need a 'degreaser' but normal all purpose cleaner can do the job as well. You can opt to dress the plastic/rubber parts with a rubber/plastic dressing or a dedicated engine dressing like the one Megs has in their product line-up. Again, plenty of youtube videos on this and plenty of guides online. What about windscreen? I notice that some of the rain repellent will cause damage to the wiper and what is rain x? and any product that i can use so that it does the water repellent effect? A: The only way any rain repellent (those branded ones la) could cause damage to the wiper is if you use/apply it wrongly. They wouldn't risk coming out with something that's damaging or else they would be faced with plenty of law-suits. I'm fond of RainX as well....works very decent and cost effective. So far these are my question. Hopefully all the sifu can help me out of this. Sorry for bad English and thanks in advance.

Yeah that's what I thought too. Wouldn't want to risk damaging it with my own hands.
I've read about this California Duster. Who has experience with similar products? Just to get rid of loose dust.
