QUOTE(codenamew @ Jan 11 2014, 04:16 PM) to all sifus. my car side panel just got scratches. another car accidentally drive to near and scratches my whole door panel. not very terrible but can see some blemish white stuff. any idea how to clean those n how to fix the scratches?can use scratchX2.0? If it hasn't gone down to primer layer, probably this is paint transfer. Should be able to remove using ScratchX 2.0. Probably might need to go through few times to remove the paint completely. If it's a deep scratch, you might need to compound it. Remember to apply wax/sealant after that for protection. QUOTE(ntdote @ Jan 11 2014, 06:06 PM) ![]() Hi guys, how to fix the bad scratch on the bottom of my bumper as above? How much would it costs to do a paint job for that spot? Not sure about the cost of doing the repaint job in shop. QUOTE(pisang @ Jan 11 2014, 04:30 PM) Probably you can go to Garage Sales->Automotive section and look for Meguiars sellers. There are plenty of Meguiars sellers This post has been edited by windskill: Jan 12 2014, 03:34 PM |

QUOTE(~PussyDevil~ @ Jan 11 2014, 11:10 PM) What is the best coating available? How come some as cheap as rm 300 and others like 2k++? I would say the quality of the coating (eg: durability, hydrophobic level,etc.). Also, the detailing technique as well. You get what you pay, basically. And, applying car coating is time consuming because you need to clean the surface as well as to remove the paint defects properly before sealing the surface with coating. What should I get for a new white car? Best car coating.....probably permanon, opti-coat? There are others as well, but I only familiar with this 2. Need other sifus to give you more advise |

QUOTE(life09 @ Jan 14 2014, 03:48 AM) Not sure if this the right place to ask or not, does anyone know where to get 800-2000 grit sandpaper? Thanks! Sandpaper should be able to get in most of the hardware shop, I think.QUOTE(shelby_yong @ Jan 14 2014, 04:51 AM) Hi. Not sure what things do you refer to. Or perhaps everything from car wash to wax? Basic 4 steps: wash->clay->compound/polish->wax/sealant -Wash: there are many of decent car wash products (budget as well) that you can get over the counter, like Mothers, Turtlewax, Sonax, etc. Wash with 2 bucket system. Invest on grit guard to minimize the chances of inducing more swirls on your car paint while washing your car. -Clay: you can get soft99 claybar or 3M claybar, etc. Use car wash shampoo or quik detailer as lube while claying your car. This step is to remove surface contaminants before going to polish. -Compound/Polish: This can be quite a long story. It totally depends on the condition of your paint surface. Recommend using Meguiars Ultimate Compound + Ultimate Polish to start playing with. -Wax: After you have removed surface defects, it's time to apply a layer of wax (or maybe more than a layer if you wish) for protection. Meguiars, Osren, Duragloss, Optimum,.......and the product list goes on. Just a general idea for you to start with. Hope I did answer your question(which I think I did not LOL) This post has been edited by windskill: Jan 14 2014, 10:10 AM |

Hi all. Got a question here. Is it true that LC CCS Foam Pad retain the product longer underneath the pad compared to flat pad?

QUOTE(g88 @ Jan 29 2014, 03:01 PM) Lake Country Pads hold up to the heat and friction of polishing without transferring that stress to the paint. Okay. I mean does product stay longer on LC foam pad compared to LC flat pad? Or it totally depends on the product that I use? This post has been edited by windskill: Jan 30 2014, 02:20 PM |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jan 30 2014, 01:19 PM) minor feedback on the LHR21: definitely not as balanced as the 15 is, 1 handed operation is much more difficult though doable (had to because inspira roof is HUGE, basically widest i've washed/detailed so far lol that i require a stool to extend my height/reach Where do you get M101? I am looking for this product surprisingly, speed 1/2 is much more unstable/vibration than speed 3/4... didn't feel safe on 5 and it's a little too noisy for late night detailing anyways so didn't really try. the m101 is cutting enough as it is so don't think i really need heh considering it's insanely huge orbital radius, it's pretty much worthless on curvy/small panels. thankfully, the inspira/lancer design is very flat/boxy lol, not too many curves etc to deal with, the rest i'll just do it by hand i guess... pros: as mentioned, the orbital radius is so huge, i can just cover larger panels/sections at one given time less topping up products haha |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jan 30 2014, 02:31 PM) Okay. Will ask the seller soon. Just not sure I should pick for M101 or M105. I have LC foam pad and a DA. Which product is more recommended actually? I know M105 is more like a universal compound that suits for various types of pads as well as for DA or rotary. For M101, it's more geared towards foam pad.Happy CNY to all! |

For tire protectant (eg: Meguiars Endurance Gel, etc.), will the tire crack if the product is applied frequently?

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Feb 2 2014, 07:37 PM) I apply dressings to my tyres after every wash, even if they don't really need one. Never had such problems. QUOTE(acefreakz @ Feb 2 2014, 07:40 PM) Someone quoted: Okay got it now! Thanks! "Well silicone acutally makes the product easy to spread, it's a necessary ingredient. Our Endurance isn't silicone based making it safe. I can guarantee our Gold Class Endurance Tire Gel will not dry or crack your tires. I've used it for years and never encountered any issues. The Gold Class Endurance Tire Gel actually has antiozonants to prevent your tire from cracking and drying. It's the only tire product we offer that replenishes the antiozonants your tires lost (the stuff that makes your tires look brown if not protected)." - from here think should be ok gua |

QUOTE(scoutfai @ Feb 3 2014, 05:24 PM) I have read from AMMO NYC and other sources that solvent base tyre dressing will dry the rubber and hence prompt tyre edge cracking. Thus this group of people recommends the use of water base tyre dressing product. The only drawback is its durability is shorter than solvent base tyre dressing. Thanks for the useful information! Appreciate it Nevertheless, I also read from Autogeek.net, a post by Mike Philips where he responds to someone asking same question like you but specifically point it to the Meguiar's Endurance Tyre Gel (because this is a solvent base tyre dressing). Mike assures the reader that Meguiar's will never product something that harms our tyre. But I also read from Cari.com detailing thread that someone has been using Meguiar's Endurance Tyre Gel and after year he notice his tyre cracks and puncture. He reasons that this is because of the tyre dressing he has been using and after this experience he stop using solvent base tyre dressing and change to water base tyre dressing. He claims since then he never observe the problem again. No crack. I think few questions need to be addressed: 1) Is there exist solvent base tyre dressing that does not exhibit the drying effect? i.e. solvent base tyre dressing that does not crack the rubber? Is Meguiar's Endurance Gel this kind of special build solvent base tyre dressing? 2) Does tyre itself affects the effect of tyre dressing? Maybe cap ayam tyre will crack but Michelin tyre does not crack when used with solvent base tyre dressing? Sorry but I do not have answers the above two questions. Do I use Meguiar's Endurance Gel and other cap ayam tyre gel (like those Kit tyre foam spray where you can get with a bargain price during sale)? yes I do use. Do I observe any crack on my tyre? No so far after 1.5yrs of using the cap ayam foam spray (I am pretty sure it is solvent base because water base is more expensive). Am I worry my tyre will crack? I do but I do not find this worry is justified from my personal experience so I will wait till my Silverstone tyre explode first then I see who to blame. But the only reason I am using Meguiar's tyre gel is because I have bunch of them which I got it during sale. I actually just want the Meguiar's shampoo but the discount is better if buy together with the gel so I get it too. LOL |

QUOTE(mirage81 @ Feb 5 2014, 11:04 PM) Yea, actually it works the same too. QUOTE(mirage81 @ Feb 5 2014, 11:01 PM) Spend the whole day detaling my old car.. I don't think there's a need to top up with Quik Wax or Quik Detailer. An overlapping action when waxing should give you a good coverage of wax on the paint surface.1) turtle wax rinse free as spray detailer 2) ultimate wash & wax to wash up 3) claying with quik detailer 4) rinse again with turtle wax rinse free 5) polish with the Magic 101 6) rinse again 7) Maguairs M16 to wax up Man! It damn tire to use hand to do all these... But that Mag' M16 is damn good compare with the Ultimate Wax.. Just wanna ask usually after waxing..do i need to top up with Ultimate Quik Wax or Ultimate Quik detalier? Or just leave it? Any1 can guide me? Thanks Top up quik wax only when you do your weekly/bi-weekly car wash maintenance (especially when you think the water can't really bead well on the paint surface) This post has been edited by windskill: Feb 5 2014, 11:35 PM |

QUOTE(mirage81 @ Feb 6 2014, 01:19 PM) My "alternative" quik detailer is actually Optimum No Rinse / Turtlewax Rinseless Wash (which you can easily get in Tesco and Ace Hardware). Tesco is selling at RM35/bottle. 1oz for 32oz of water should serve the same purpose like quik detailer for me.*The dilution ratio might be over abit, do some math and adjust accordingly |

QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Feb 6 2014, 03:28 PM) Haha, the number one thing that i fear is the cloudy patches after wax application because my car is black in color so a small dot of such defect is enough to kill the entire appearance of the car and not to mention my self satisfaction. Wash car, followed by wax is actually okay. The additional steps such as claying, polishing, and even IPA wipe, are just to provide the best surface to achieve the optimum bonding of wax on the paint surface. These steps are basically surface preparation.I wash my car once every week at night with Magic 101's "Wash & Wax" but because of my regular car wash, the wax will wear off faster than i was told. I just did my 4 layer polish and wax about 2 weeks ago and washed my car only once so now my car still feels "smooth". I reckon the wax is still around but i do not know how long will it last so before it goes away so i am hoping that before it goes away, i apply the wax. I've seen so much videos online using clay bars and some to the extreme using a rotary machine to polish off the contaminants before they apply the wax but i have absolutely zero knowledge on these advance techniques and if i were to try it, i know it will cause more harm than good which is why i asking around to see if just washing the car thoroughly would be sufficient to prep the car for waxing T____T Without proper surface preparation, you still can wax your car after car wash. Wax will still be there, no worries. The only thing is about the durability of the wax on the paint surface. That's it |
