QUOTE(KrisMas @ Feb 14 2014, 10:48 AM) Can you do me a favour? Wet them with water then wipe some glass a few times, as if you're polishing the glass....see if any of them leave any lint or residue. Thanks. Yesterday I cut small pieces of each Daiso, Magic Clean & Sonax to try on my TV cabinet's black glass.None of them left any lint. I think use the Daiso one most cost effective |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 24 2014, 02:45 PM) Which clay cloth are you using? Looking for one.QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 24 2014, 02:45 PM) I happen to have some leftover in my store. Got it 4 years and took it out to use it. Easier to use and seems to last pretty long. Applied before CNY up till now. The tire sidewalls lost it's shine a little but I'm ok with that. Will probably apply again this weekend after a thorough wash.I don't soap the wheels directly. Just use a powerjet to hose down the tire sidewall surface and blow dry the wheels afterwards. |

Hi all,
Appreciate some advice here. Just got a really bad, deep and long scratch at the bottom right of my car, covering the passenger door til the back wheel fender. Is it possible for me to apply primer, apply base paint and clear coat before polishing with compound or the extent of the damage is too bad for a DIY? Don't wanna spend a bomb and waste time leaving the car at the workshop for days. Attached thumbnail(s) |

No problems sharing, I think I have more than enough for a lifetime
A little goes a long way, I think 200ml(as per it's normal smaller sizing packs) is good enough if you're doing your own car. You gonna supply the container or I supply it? |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 24 2014, 05:36 PM) Thanks. Will look for it.QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 24 2014, 05:36 PM) i have a pressure washer too but i still prefer directly agitating the surface if it's too dirty; else i just spray wheel cleaning solutions and let it sit, then pressure wash away I think the roads in KL are pretty dusty especially with the dry weather. After a week's drive, the rims turn brown in colour. The dirt accumulated is a lot on the wheels and I find that they are oily as well because the dirty water leaves a stain on my tiles.(my cars generate a lot of brake dust due to shit driving habits Anyway, I now use Meguiars D108 Super Degreaser (10:1) mixed in a spray bottle. I find that it cleans the gunk on rims quite efficiently. I only shoot on the rims and not on the tire sidewall since I don't want to wash the old dressing on the tires. The only thing I find difficult is to clean inside and behind the rims. That takes a long time. Perhaps I'll retire my old wash mitt and use it to clean the wheels. Lastly I use the pressure washer to wash off all the soap and also on the tire sidewall and after that use a blower to blow it dry. The Endurance Tire Gel still stays on the tire sidewall and still gives a good sheen. QUOTE(windskill @ Feb 24 2014, 06:29 PM) I use Autoglym's Bumper and Trim Gel because I still have 2 bottles. But I just realised I can also use Meguiars Endurance Tire Gel. Read that it gives very good results on plastic trims.Previously I was looking at Meguiars D161 Silicone-Free Dressing but it's not available in Malaysia. The more lasting and expensive solution would be to use something like 22ple VR1 Plastic and Trim Restorer. QUOTE(joeysew @ Feb 25 2014, 11:19 AM) The last time I did the whole long bottom side skirt was RM 180 if I recall. QUOTE(joeysew @ Feb 25 2014, 11:19 AM) If i were you, i'd leave the door alone for the moment and focus on the skirting as that's where the damage mostly are.The last time i did my skirting (because i stupidly turned my car too fast resulting in the rear end scraping through boulders), i was quoted about RM120.00. Costly because of the stupid paint (Black Crystal Pearl). The reason why i suggest you to leave the door alone at the moment as even the most experienced detailers will have problem matching the paint colors because your overall car would have the slightly "aged" white color and the newly paint job will give your car a "fresh" white kinda look. It's really obvious under bright sunlight. Try alternatives to fix the lines on the door as temporary measure and once you really think that you need a new paint job or a clear coating THEN have it fixed. |
