I feel like gundam marker when it first applied, it is very nice. But if you didnt coat it... the effect will soon become dull after sometime.. That's what happened to my gold with my HGUC Banshee destory mode. Its getting more dull after a year.. I should have gloss coat it in the first place.

i think that only applies to gold and silver/chrome markers. thing is, you can't coat these kind of paint, it'll loose the shine. tried clear top coat on a painted chrome part and it turned silver. rclxub.gif

standard colours worked just fine.

Ya, it's really watery.

But when I first apply the first coat, i will check that whether the surface good or not.
Then I tried to apply again (maybe 2~3 minutes later), then the first coat got pushed away (kinda like cement already), haha ..
Still noob though ..

problem is, the chemical compound in the silver marker will dissolve the dried paint. so to overlay silver/gold/anything similar, better use brush(with a light touch).

the long hours of building i can handle, it's the long hours of applying decals that kills it. cry.gif

i've had my sinanju for around 3 years now. still haven't finish decaling it. doh.gif

although i did finish MG zaku2.0, macross vf25G Super & fixing some detailing on 2 older MGs in between. sweat.gif

yeah.. im using gundam marker currently... got smudge but i just quickly rub with my finger to even them ... if leave too long, it will dry and will be harder to remove ..
pencil should be easier .. just need to buy better tone lead
*
mechanical pencil goes down to .3mm. that's the smallest. to get darker use 2b grade lead.

to clean dried gundam marker, use pencil eraser.

Hi sifus out there I have a few questions. I'm assembling Unicorn Full Armor, and bought a can of Mr. Super Clear Semi Gloss (as I don't like over-glossy look). This is my first time applying top coat, and :

1) How long does it takes for Mr. Super Clear to 'completely' dry up, I've tried on my old gundam and they seems to dry up damn fast.

2) Do I apply panel-lines (using Gundam Marker) after applying Mr. Super Clear or before?

Hopefully some sifus will provide some good advices into these questions  notworthy.gif

a) usually i'd wait for 5 mins before the next coat. just to be sure.
b) like most, i'd panel lined then top coat. that way the paint would cause the lines to look like smudges and more natural.

others may have different answer.

those looks pretty nasty, as it's a load bearing joint. just glue won't work well.

if it were me, i'll do it like this(how i fixed my sinanju's waist):
1. disassemble the joint.
2. for the bigger joint, you need to jab a sewing needle into the center of the joint(by heating it up, red hot)
3. use hot glue to stick the parts together(in and around it). the needle will help to reinforce the joint.
4. use a soldering iron to even out the hot glue around the joint. the idea is to melt the hot glue into plastic joint in such a way that it became seemless.
5. for the neck, same method, but without the needle.

unlike just glueing, this creates a stronger bond. my sinanju's waist is pretty solid after the fix. i use this method to fix my childrens' toy as well. really swore by it flex.gif . think "concrete" and you'll get the idea. brows.gif
