It depends on you. How old is your son? If he is too small to play games online, xbox 360 jtag is good enough (can play pirate games, but cannot play online, hence, easy to get bored). You can get this for around RM700.

If you want to allow him to play online, better go for xbox One, either slim or fat (bigger online community, and graphic quality). You can get fat version for around RM900.
However, to play online, you require xbox live gold which is around RM160/year. But you will be given 3-4 games per month, which perhaps more than enough for your son.

Hope the present will motivates him to do better in the future.

I also had the problem to find repair shop in KL before, most game shops said they will send it to the factory. Dont know how much the cost will be though.
Actually, some of the common problems can be fixed easily (e.g. RB/LB button stucked), you can do it by yourself.
Analog drift is a bit troublesome to do by yourself. You can buy the spare from ebay, and send it to phone repair shop to do the soldering. The charge varies between rm30-60. But no guarantee from the shop that it would be fixed.
