guys quick question
my bro in law's note 2 died cos water damaged, he sent it to 3rd party repair, replaced whole board, now phone returned, but it seems like T-mobile version's note 2 because it has the t-mobile boot screen together with usual samsung logo, also check for update, no 4.3 update yet so.. is it possible to flash malaysia stock 4.1.2 firmware on this t-mobile note 2? compatible or not? is it same hardware as other all international note 2? QUOTE(kkm @ Dec 31 2013, 03:54 PM) Just make sure it's the GT-N7100 in Device info in Settings. If it is, you can flash any number of firmwares from Samfirmware, including the official Malaysian 4.3... yes it isand further check, it seems current firmware is for india, funny thing the bootloader is t-mobile samsung lol so any firmware works, but need flash thru kie/odin manually? where can i find malaysia stock 4.1.2 firmware? or should i directly flash malaysia stock 4.3? |

QUOTE(mydragoon @ Feb 17 2014, 05:11 PM) there are some good reasons... that saferoot did not work for me, got the address error and refuse to root,#1. warranty period not over #2. some apps like s note, etc is kinda nice #3. some roms seem to have camera focus issue (s/w related) and this might be deal breaker for me in my case, still using 4.3. i used it only coz i wanted to see how it would be, officially. having used it for a few weeks now, i can say i'm not happy at all. so today... managed to find out how to root my n2 without triggering knox. now just need to find out how to flash without increasing counter and permanently remove knox. <-- asked a few times but never really got a reply. then again, mine is AP set... so have to also make sure roms, kernels and what not mentioned are compatible with my set. the creator of the exploit has stated kernel has been patched , this tool will no longer works but still work for some of us, and not working on my note 2 |

guys
most of you should have known Galaxy S3 and some Note 2 users reported these phone kill microsd cards mostly sandisk microsd were killed, and some other brand even though sandisk admitted that they got batch of cards have manufacturing problem ok now.... my sis had a Kingston microsd on her s3,it's almost a year, her phone start having difficulties to read photos and other media files, or not showing on gallery at all, or unreadable sometime it still readable on pc with card reader, so i backup her data and format it, well few photos were corrupted after format and copy the data back, it's working fine again, but then weeks later, same problem back, this time more files were corrupted compared to the last backup data, then i google for info, just know about s3 note2 would kill microsd, mostly sandisk my sis card is Kingston brand, so i give it another shot, this time i put it on my note 2 to use (my note 2 doesn't have micro sd yet) and it works just fine, few days later it started un-mounting and mounting itself and finally sudden died itself few hours ago. totally not detectable on note 2, my optimus 2x, and even on pc with card reader, now the card is officially dead just wondering if anyone of you note 2 users, also s3 user have microsd killing problem? and what microsd you guys use? I'm getting my own microsd card for note 2 soon, but really no dare to get sandisk, Kingston I've read many articles on internet that if microsd card dies on these phones, usually the card itself not really well made, it might not die on other phone and devices, but will still die on some devices like s3 and note 2. the problem is the card so what do u guys think.. what card should I get for my note 2? just an extra note, my bro in law's black note 2 use his sandisk microsd bought from Taiwan just fine, so far no problem This post has been edited by squall0833: Mar 12 2014, 02:43 AM |

Alright guys, just some quick questions
How if knox flag tripped? What I know is warranty void, not reversible, no knox features, but what im not sure is... Some ppl say you will be locked from installing newer knox enabled roms for example upcoming 4.4 stock rom U cannot get update from OTA cannot flash newer stock roms with odin Is that true? But got some ppl in xda said you will still able to flash any newer knox enabled firmware no matter what, just your warranty and flag still remain void and no knox features only And is there any other cons for knox flag tripped that I dont know? |

QUOTE(Noobi3 @ May 3 2014, 02:58 AM) Your info are all jumbled up . Knox and Root are 2 different thing , rooting will trip knox . Lol I hadnt said anything about root yet What I know is warranty void, not reversible, no knox features, but what im not sure is... Rooting tripped knox BUT there are a few with Knox triggered to 0x1 yet manage to claim for warranty after they deroot , reset and flash back stock rom Some ppl say you will be locked from installing newer knox enabled roms for example upcoming 4.4 stock rom Srsly ? Where u get that info ? Knox enabled roms or not , u can still install any stock rom BUT u cant downgrade anymore even to older firmware with same based eg 4.4 to 4.4 earlier version . And that is because of Bootloader but in certain cases , u can upgrade to newer version without flashing bootloader . Eg , I'm running ND5 rom on Note 3 but using NA6 bootloader . ND5 comes with a bootloader as well but i didnt upgrade mine since NA6 is working fine so far . U cannot get update from OTA cannot flash newer stock roms with odin Rooted phone cannot get OTA , that has been that way a LONG time . The only phone i know where u can root and get OTA is Pantech Vega series . Well your info makes things clear for me now As for the part locked from update to newer version, what they actually mean is the bootloader itself and firmwares but not roms? So lets say I wanted to root my current note 2 4.3 stock I rooted it, tripped the flag, no longer able to use knox features (dont care actually) So im on rooted stock 4.3 now So if 4.4 stock is released, how do I update since odin no longer usable ? Anything else that may give me troubles with this knox bootloader I got from stock 4.3 update? And will I have any problem if I want to move to any custom roms? With this knox bootloader This post has been edited by squall0833: May 3 2014, 03:24 AM |

1stly , are you still under warranty ?
no longer under warranty, still remain stock 4.3 and knox not tripped wanted to have phone root but keep the stock 4.3 rom, will update to 4.4 when it comes and look for root method for 4.4 later Which part of my statement makes u think I assume u r rooted ? i was asking what happened to me if i tripped knox, you got talk about root, well extra info always better As for the part locked from update to newer version, what they actually mean is the bootloader itself and firmwares but not roms? ROM is the firmware , same as some users referred to the " phone " as the " device " a quote from http://omegadroid.co/wanted-knox-void-warranty-0x1/ Some facts about KNOX status: It isn’t possible to downgrade to KNOX-disabled firmwares/bootloaders (An attempt sets 0×1) (even though some people state, downgrade is possible when omitting the bootloader file in a firmware package). By downgrading from KNOX-enabled to KNOX-disabled firmware, your devices will be locked to installation of newer firmwares. is that mean it only happens if i try to downgrade my knox bootloader to previous non-knox bootloader? I never say Odin is not usable after rooting , only OTA and KIES update QUOTE Some ppl say you will be locked from installing newer knox enabled roms for example upcoming 4.4 stock rom Srsly ? Where u get that info ? Knox enabled roms or not , u can still install any stock rom BUT u cant downgrade anymore even to older firmware with same based eg 4.4 to 4.4 earlier version . ND5 comes with a bootloader as well but i didnt upgrade mine since NA6 is working fine so far . U cannot get update from OTA cannot flash newer stock roms with odin users tripped their knox to install custom recovery to go to custom rom , so what do u think ? for example, I've seen number of users on xda who have minor problems with their custom rom + custom kernel based on stock kernel will have frequently FC problems, it's something related to knox bootloader actually not a big problem, just wanted to ask used to mod my LG O2x, now using note 2, because knox thingy need to be more careful really thank you for help and info, I'll do more research again if can, i just want to keep stock 4.3 , all i want just root my note 2 This post has been edited by squall0833: May 3 2014, 05:09 PM |
