QUOTE(tonynk9 @ Dec 12 2013, 10:20 PM) note 2 or huawei ascend mate ? Both are good devices. I tested the Mate briefly and found the display a bit brighter than the note2.using mainly for youtube n web browsing.. main features that i look for is sharp display with good contrast / saturation just sold my S2 ... i just love the amoled screen...prefer something with similar quality but bigger screen... Note2 will have more accessory choices and custom rom development support on xda and you might want to try that one day. Perhaps Mate could have custom roms on Chinese forums but I don't know. At least Note2 has gotten 4.3 now. |

Alternatively, the Asus Phonepad 6, as it's like the ONLY other thing with an active stylus. Doesn't have a removable battery but comes with a nice bright FHD screen though. I haven't been looking at the overall landscape for awhile, although I'm under the impression that Intel SoCs are locked down tighter than Qualcomm. IINM it's awfully device specific. Even if the chips themselves have exploitable vulnerabilities, some vendors lock it down anyway. So in the end it depends on which Intel SoC on which phone. But in general terms, ARM based stuff seem far easier to root than x86, even if it's just because there's more ARM based devices for people to crack out there compared to x86 ones, so more vulnerabilities are uncovered for ARM chips for root exploits. But considering that root relies more on security holes in software rather than hardware (except in certain cases where the software is bulletproof), it goes back to "which device" rather quickly. As long as enough users use the device, it should be rooted plenty quickly, Intel or otherwise. IINM anyway. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Dec 13 2013, 03:37 AM |

QUOTE(neuromancerx @ Dec 12 2013, 05:39 PM) if you're impatient, just flash DN3 or Phoenix rom. It came with the latest samsung official firmware, removed bloatware and additional note 3 functions. How's omnirom?Got any issues?I wanted to try the kitkat ROMs but I faced some issues that bothered me last time...For myself, i'm already with 4.4.2 omnirom. |
