SHAH ALAM: The Syariah High Court here has issued an arrest warrant for controversial blogger Papa Gomo after he failed to appear before the court in relation to a violation of an interim custody order involving his two daughters.
Justice Mohammad Adib Husain issued the warrant for Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, 30, also known as Papa Gomo, after allowing an application by lawyer Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Zain who represented his ex-wife Bellina Omar Sharifuddin Chin, 28.
Mohd Zaidi, in applying for the warrant, earlier informed the court that Wan Muhammad had been served with a show cause notice at his home in Taman Danau Kota at 9.41pm on Nov 7 after he failed to abide by the interim custody order granted to Bellina on Sept 2.
However, he did not comply with the order, which led to Bellina filing a show cause notice against Wan Muhammad on Oct 1.
Wan Muhammad and Bellina were married on Feb 25, 2006 and divorced on Sept 24 last year. They have two daughters, Wan Cassandra, 4, and Wan Camillea, 2.
“He had received and signed the acknowledgement form for the show cause notice. However, his absence today speaks of his obvious defiance.
“His non-compliance to the interim custody order has resulted in my client (Bellina) not able to see her children for almost a year,” Mohd Zaidi said Wednesday.
Justice Mohammad Adib ordered for the Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Department (Jawi) and the police to execute the arrest warrant.
The court also fixed Jan 28, 2014 for mention in the case.
