INTRODUCTION

I tested Razer Carcharias PC Gaming Headset for a few weeks after I finished testing the Steelseries Diablo III Headset. Let's take a look about some of the features Razer said about this headset

As usual, Razer's packaging was always flashy and stylish. The headset was packed neat and safely inside the box with its cable.



On the rear side, we got a more detailed information about the headsets in a few language.



Inside the box, we got the Razer Carcharias Headset,Razer sticker and some kind of card to welcome you for using Razer's Gaming Peripherals.

TESTING SESSION

Musics :

The Razer Carcharias performs well in this category. The sound quality was pretty amazing. It produces a very clean sound. The treble was not bad as well, it doesn't go overboard. But, the bass was pretty weak for me. I tested it with some heavy/metal songs and it doesn't impress me. In my opinion, this headset was good for hip hop/country and techno songs. Still, I have a pretty good time listening to musics with this headset.

Games :

For games, it performs pretty good. For FPS, the gunfire and explosions can be heard like it was real. I don't have any complaints for FPS games. For MOBA/RTS games, I tested it with Dota 2. The sound was more realistic than my 2.1 speakers. When I got hit by Clockwerk's ultimate, I got the shock from the sound produced by this headset. This headset performs good for games.

Comfort :

First of all, I'm gonna start with its headband. The headband material was made with a soft cushions. It doesn't put any pressure on my head through my gaming session, which is good for prolonged use. I was expecting the ear cushions to be softer. It was made of cloth filled with kind of hard foam cushions. It doesn't give you comfortable feel like with leather ear pads , but you won't get irritated by it. I played games and listening to musics with these for 4-5 hours with no problems at all. If I go longer than that, my ear would feel uncomfortable. In terms of comfort, the only complaint is the ear cushions was made of hard foam. I would like to see Razer made the ear cushions a little bit more soft

Design and Build Quality :

The design was pretty bold if you ask me. They made it a full-black design for the Carcharias. I would be happy to see some grean neon Razer mark on the top of headband to make it more stylish. For build quality, the headset mostly made of plastic, but it doesn't feel like cheap plastic. The cord was braided to prevent any damage that can make you buy another headset. But, if you do break it, you can't repair it. It doesn't feel fragile, but not sturdy as well considering it was made of plastic. I think it can hold off if you just use it with your PC

Mic Test :

The microphone was very clear. It is expected from a noise cancelling microphone. The only problem I had is the microphone was not really 'adjustable'. It feels like it will break if you try to bend it.

CONCLUSION

Razer Carcharias PC Headset is a pretty damn good headset. The sound quality was amazing, but not in audiophile grade. I would recommend it for gamers on budget or wanted to buy their first headset. There are a lot of good gaming headsets that were made for gamers on budget, but I suggest you take this headset into consideration. Razer Carcharias is available on market for RM269-RM289.

PROS :

-Comfortable to wear for hours
-Sound quality was good

CONS :

-Bass a little weak
-Not meant for transportation or traveling purposes
-Ear cushions were not as soft as I would like it to be
