thanks for the info f5calvin.

I was worry because my uncle is photography fans also...but he bought tamron 18-200 instead of nikon kit lens 18-105... when i bought my dslr..he was like regreting lo...even my kit lens is 18-105..but image is much sharper compare to his...

Therefore i want to think first..btw i am planning to go for instalment XD...i think this way will be better

I hope I can get a long telephoto lens like the ones you mentioned one day haha XD Maybe when I am filthy rich I suppose haha XD Although not a very practical lens to have, it sure is fun to use it for bird/monkey/snake shots, noneed to go ninja mode  laugh.gif
this is also one of my reason to get this lens....i missed out alot of shots during trip to sabah...there got alot cute little birds lol.

totally agree, that lens is so crazy sharp even wide open.

at 70mm f2.8, it is as sharp as those prime lenses out there. at 200mm, still sharp, but can't compare with prime telephoto lens.

not to mention the not bad macro capability you can get.

at around 2.5k, it's the only brand new 70-200 f2.8 you can get.

careful though, the AF isn't that good, tends to front/back focus a little bit at longer focal length.
*
2.5k you mean is not nikon brand?

of course cant compare to prime telephoto lens...but i need to learn more about photography first before i move on to next stage.

I never had any problem with AF because most of the time i off my AF XD

i understand nikon 70-200 f4 is sharp...but i heard someone saying "a f2.8 lens can be a f4 lens but f4 will never be f2.8"

Thats why i am wondering so much hehe. There are alot more kind of photo i would like to try

actually no need to think that nikon's 70-200 is the only choice.

since he says he likes MF, the SWM don't matter that much that him already.

and compare the nikon 70-200 vrii/i with tamron 70-200 macro, will the 4-5k of price difference justified by better focusing motor and VR? build quality aside, most people don't threat their lens like a weapon.
*
One more thing i am concern...my uncle said nikon's lens is tougher ...is that true?

it is tougher for sure.

but if you treat your lens nicely, don't abuse them, don't use in rain, don't drop or bang the lens, any lens will last many years easily.

thats a problem...firstly malaysia always rain...second....i want to take rainy day's scene leh icon_question.gif

i think the tammy 70200 is good buy at low price. (nt vy low oso la )
it'll be a good portrait lens..u're using d7k? 200= 300mm for u.. go shoot motorsports haha
*
thats also one of my planning... i have a nikon 50mm 1.8 as well...but attach on my d7000 it become 75mm...so hard to adjust the distance lol biggrin.gif

I've already tried extension tubes and a Raynox 250
Getting a Raynox  will be a better pick bro nod.gif
Don't have to worry too much about lost light, malfunction or incompatibility issues, yet at the same time not losing too much on magnification  laugh.gif

how much normally cost for a extension tube?
might get one and play play
