QUOTE(Koki @ Nov 29 2013, 01:28 AM) Hi bros, just got my Nikon D7000 and a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens not long ago. Loving it so far, has a lot more options and much to learn compared to any DSLRs I used previously Here are some quick shots » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I got one question though - what lighting do you use for product photoshoot? White table lamp with diffuser or just a piece of paper? ![]() かるた - Karuta A Traditional Japanese Card Game. by Pan & Toori, on Flickr This is my 1st product shoot, I just use A4 paper lay around, using sunlight from the window.. IMO white paper works because it reflect.. sadly I don't have enough hand or human power or tripod to hold another paper on the left side.. basically, if you are on budget or lazy to set up, sunlight and A4 paper is your best friend.. Hi sifussss,
Sigma 17-50mm better or 35mm f1.8 better in a event such as comic fiesta 2013 in KLCC? because it is not full in-door nor full out door, not sure which lens to bring. Too lazy to bring both, just a simple setup with flash gun and shot. Just want to write blog about the event, not those apa apa photography page you normally see on fb that with superior lightning and such. But still quality photo is still the main factor. |

QUOTE(gunzerdude @ Dec 4 2013, 02:03 PM) nono, already have the sigma.. is my friend one, just not sure to tumpang that sigma or bring that 35mm.. is tamron 17-50 better than the sigma? because in future, may be after Chinese new year(angpao ftw) might get one of these lens. I love the kit 18-55 but the f3.5 and the sharpness is a bit let down when shooting in-door.. |

QUOTE(gunzerdude @ Dec 4 2013, 02:11 PM) Bring both la, the 35 isn't exactly all that big what hmm tamron also got wor.. Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 VC.. but is like 400 cheaper than the sigma version.. Performance on both the tamron and sigma are about the same. Except that the sigma has OS which will be useful for still subjects in low light. Up to you to decide whether it's worth paying extra to gain that capability la. Edit : ok got vc and non-vc, and os.. gah! brain hurt when browse, just like when the first time I learn how to operate my DSLR.. This post has been edited by jepertine90: Dec 4 2013, 04:20 PM |

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Dec 4 2013, 05:09 PM) Bring both lens, you won't regret! Both lens a great for CF, last CF I brought a 16-35f4, 35f1.4, and 70200f2.8.. Its heavy but I don't mind! I don't have a camera bag, so might be an issue for me to bring a flash gun + 2 lens.. QUOTE(copperwire93 @ Dec 4 2013, 06:19 PM) In a nutshell, people say non-vc is much sharper than the vc one, but vc surely can help you to reduce camera shake especially in lowlight situation. But, maximum 50mm is enough for you to make do without VC. Hence, the choice is yours. Hehe! That's all I can advice. I read that too.. the older version is sharper.. but I have a shaky hand sometimes... maybe wait for a while to pump more $$ to get that sigma 17-50mm, but boy it is a heavy lens.. Dilemma.. on the side note http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/SanDisk-Extreme...=item3a85fa3294 is this a good buy? have no idea whats the pricing of the memory card, but I do need a larger capacity and faster speed card than my defult class 6 8gb~ |

QUOTE(Pro3363 @ Dec 4 2013, 10:06 PM) Which Crumpler? The million dollar series? I was in the same scenario as u months ago, but in the end i got the ThinkTank Streetwalker Pro. Now targeting Lowepro Transit Sling 250AW. I would prefer the Lowepro over Crumpler any time Crumpler Heaven(M) + Crumpler Barney Rustle Blanket, I'm not purely looking for a camera bag.. I looking for a bag that can carry my camera gear + ipad + other stuffs... I travel alot for vacations.. so water resistence + can carry water bottle, passport, ipad, DSLR, etc is a huge bonus I bought the same exact SD card cheaper. Why not try any local camera stores at ur area? Any recommendation other than crumpler to fit my needs? I might get it from the local store when I get my 35mm this weekend.. Edit : that Lowepro Transit Sling 250 AW not bad leh... how is the price? if significant cheaper I might get this instead of the crumpler combo~ QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Dec 4 2013, 10:07 PM) Need to fit my above needs wor.. I only can find crumpler.. haha other bags is too pro for me.. This post has been edited by jepertine90: Dec 4 2013, 10:43 PM |

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Dec 4 2013, 09:09 PM) if really need 1 only, get the 35mm 1.8 la.. the last event i went to animangaki..95% i used 35mm.. light n sharp. I shot animangaki with 35mm + kit lens too.. yup very sharp, but I open very wide, some picture too soft.. tammy 1750 is best among them(third party 1750) tammy 1750 best and cheapest.. seems like a no brainer~ is this standard zoom lens good? |

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Dec 4 2013, 11:28 PM) yeah..vc quite useful for me as i have unsteady hands.. lowlight , indoor will vy useful. bt it comes with a price. all your photo use that tamron right? looks sharp!! the overall sharpness is vy much decreased and edge sharpness not vy sharp.. the non vc is sharp. edit : just checked your animangaki photo.. those looks amazing how come mine doesn't as sharp as yours even using the same lens? PP? or my setting is wrong? This post has been edited by jepertine90: Dec 4 2013, 11:51 PM |

QUOTE(Pro3363 @ Dec 4 2013, 11:45 PM) Not sure about the price yet.. Still a pretty new model. It's bigger brother the transit backpack 350AW sells for about RM490, so roughly i guest the transit sling maybe RM300++ awesome, hope it is cheap.. I wish the zip to open the whole bag is a separate zip, then it would be perfect ~ QUOTE(f5calvin @ Dec 4 2013, 11:57 PM) er..abit of PP sharpness haha..bt not very sharp la.. some i recompose n made it less sharp ady.. my tamron shots are usually not sharp. bt enough for events la. i got the vc one cz gt promotion or something he quote me rm1250 only..so i bought it lo.. I also PP sharpness, but the colour and quite soft.. it's the same. with or without vc has the same poor sharpness. >< just heard from my friend tamron 17-50 suffer dust problem? |

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Dec 4 2013, 11:59 PM) There are many brands out there and most of them are way better than crumpler! I think crumpler is pretty solid already, from what they offer.. along with style.. hahaYour camera gear is still ok, need not worry I don't think it is a good idea to use a sling bag, it really does hurt on the shoulders after few hours of used when you travel.. I am using a ThinkTank Speed racer, its a sling with a belt to distribute the weight from your shoulder to your waist Fits a D4, 70200f2.8,1635f4,35f1.4,sb900 and nexus 7, filters, battery and could add a few more items Here are some major camera bag brands Kata, Thinktank, Lowepro, Vanguard thats some cool bag, but as I said is too pro for me.. I just want a bag that can carry my essentials, along with my dslr + 1 lens would be enough for travel.. haha I don't think in the foreseeable future I would own a super zoom lens such as the 70-200.. I'm not as hardcore as you guys.. who knows, maybe in the future I might bring those cannon running around and 'shoot' people or animals.. haha Now I'm just interested in getting a 35mm prime and a standard zoom to replace my kit lens.. along with a city bag~ you guys are super helpful.. |

QUOTE(Buddy05 @ Dec 7 2013, 02:41 PM) I found that D3200 liveview lcd screen color not accurate and not enough clear , any setting that can be done with that ? You can't.. yup the screen colour is not accurate.. I think is more vivid as compared to the original photo. when I export it out to my desktop, the colour tend to be more pale.. however it can be fixed via lightroom with raw.. |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Dec 9 2013, 01:37 PM) I view it with lightroom..QUOTE(jchue73 @ Dec 9 2013, 01:56 PM) One explanation could be that Picture Styles is used in the camera. LR does not recognise Picture Styles that the Nikon body applies to the NEFs. So when you use LR or PS for that matter, everything except the WB is not recognised. I never use picture styles... in fact I never use the white balance, I just auto. Just that when I view it on the screen the purple is nice, but view in lightroom the purple is like 15% more pale than the screen. Using Dell U2412M, colour representation of the monitor should be very close to original. |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Dec 9 2013, 04:57 PM) View with CaptureNX or ViewNX and see if its still different or not. Its like what jchue73 explained earlier, does it happen with JPEG as well? Jpeg is ok... hmm later try with capturenx/view nx and see how.. ps. even the WB is approximate only :S This post has been edited by jepertine90: Dec 9 2013, 08:20 PM |
