Hi bros, just got my Nikon D7000 and a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens not long ago.
Loving it so far, has a lot more options and much to learn compared to any DSLRs I used previously thumbup.gif
Here are some quick shots laugh.gif

I got one question though - what lighting do you use for product photoshoot? White table lamp with diffuser or just a piece of paper?
*

You might want to look at the video above! biggrin.gif

Hope it helped! What you might want to look at when it comes to light, would you want a soft or hard light, shadows do play an important role too! biggrin.gif

Wow thanks for the feedback guys thumbup.gif
I thought using a table lamp with some diffuser light might work, but my IKEA table lamp emits yellow light sweat.gif

@Calvin Seak I did watch that video before XD Hilarious, but great pics nonetheless

Haha you're welcome! Just keep shooting and you'll definitely be good at it

Thanks bro.

For upcoming event is hold in a hall, so the lighting is same throughout the hall, and i compare with the hall used in last Sunday, the lighting also same kind of yellow cast.

For solution 2:
Let say i using white A4 paper, where should i shoot the white paper for preset WB? At the hall on spot or under sun light?
*
A white paper would not be a good option..

Because it is thin/transparent, unless it is a pure white cardboard than that would be a better options..

If you are so concerned about WB, maybe you can get an EXPO Disc which would give u accurate WB at the same time convenient! You'll save plenty of time that way smile.gif

I would normally shoot in Auto WB in events and all and manipulate later in post processing!

Here's a link for more information on EXPO Disc!

http://www.expoimaging.com/product-overview.php?cat_id=1

Cheers!

I have been gone for to long! So many macro shots!

Recent event I shot last weekend! Met many new friends! Ranging from photographers, drivers and models biggrin.gif

Forgot to ask. Sunday morning when they took pic, suddenly the viewfinder looks blur, switch to liveview also same, it remained for around 10 minutes before resume back to normal. I guess is some mist inside the mirror. That day is rainy day and rained non stop since day before, but i put inside the camera bag. How can it happen? As the lens is close system right? Did you guy experience this before?
*

You're not the first..

It's called condensation smile.gif

Regarding about the EXPO Disc, not sure about Malaysia because I got mine from United States.. Maybe you could ask around biggrin.gif

I like the 1st and 2nd. Third the rain is so heavy? Checked your exif, wow 70mm already can reach this far.
Capture RAW+Jpeg man with AWB. If anything goes wrong on a certain picture, you have a raw as backup. nod.gif

Edit: Added spoiler tag. Haha! laugh.gif
*
It was raining heavily for the first round, Thank God I brought my cap! Which shielded the rain from my eyes! Normally I would wear my Rain Jacket but I pinjam-ed it to a friend of mine sad.gif

Yeaps! The 70-200 is the perfect lens to bring along, it is because I was in the track itself.. The first corner of sepang, you could use a 16-35mm for some amazing panning shots!

Awesome shots mate!  notworthy.gif
I'm sure these were not taken at your house garden right?

#1 is a fungus beetle
#2 is a Great Egg Fly (Hypolimnas bolina) - great shot, these butterflies don't usually hang around too much laugh.gif
#3 bug porn! XD
#4 is an Electric Blue Banded Phintella (Phintella vittata) - this is a very tough spider to shoot since they are extremely jumpy, I have yet to get a decent shot of the front hehe, can try it as a challenge~
#8 is a stilt legged fly- again, a tough shot since their legs are so damn long and are always out of focus. You did very well in your shot, where the legs are still pretty decently focused, kudos!  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Shots will be come very soft at high magnifications, so the trick is to reduce magnification (yes I know its hard to do that for a macro shooter haha) and crop later, or focus stack ^___^
Keep it up~~  notworthy.gif
*
Nice pictures!! Its awesome that you know your subjects! How do you know if you don't mind telling

Wow, that is an interesting shot man!
Flies will secrete fluids when they find suitable food. The fluid will digest the food before the fly sucks them upĀ  brows.gif
I'm sure its a great shot hehe, share share~~

I've never seen anything like that before though haha, and I don't intend on waiting beside dog poo to find out XD
We all have to start somewhere thumbup.gif
I used to be very poor in my macro shots too haha
Yeah, CY sifu's photos are so good, both the cars and girlsĀ  wub.gif
Coincidentally I am also working a bit on some insect research, so I know some of them haha, I just refer to books or scientific literature. I can only ID the commons ones la haha Still much to learn~

Usually noneed to wait (unless flying or hunting shot), just find them and shoot laugh.gif
Like copperwire93 mentioned, its more about composition, focusing and ninja stealth to not scare them away XD
*
Haha nice!! Keep up the good work! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
I'm also thinking of getting a Macro lens but not to shoot insects tongue.gif More on wedding bands and rings! biggrin.gif

Hi sifussss,

Sigma 17-50mm better or 35mm f1.8 better in a event such as comic fiesta 2013 in KLCC? because it is not full in-door nor full out door, not sure which lens to bring. Too lazy to bring both, just a simple setup with flash gun and shot.

Just want to write blog about the event, not those apa apa photography page you normally see on fb that with superior lightning and such. But still quality photo is still the main factor.
*
Bring both lens, you won't regret! Both lens a great for CF, last CF I brought a 16-35f4, 35f1.4, and 70200f2.8.. Its heavy but I don't mind!

I don't have a camera bag, so might be an issue for me to bring a flash gun + 2 lens.. sad.gif still deciding want to buy crumpler or not..  hmm.gif
I read that too.. the older version is sharper.. but I have a shaky hand sometimes... maybe wait for a while to pump more $$ to get that sigma 17-50mm, but boy it is a heavy lens.. Dilemma..

on the side note
http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/SanDisk-Extreme...=item3a85fa3294

is this a good buy? have no idea whats the pricing of the memory card, but I do need a larger capacity and faster speed card than my defult class 6 8gb~  whistling.gif
*
Don't get crumpler!! There are much better bags out there btw and cheaper too!

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Dec 4 2013, 09:09 PM)
if really need 1 only, get the 35mm 1.8 la.. the last event i went to animangaki..95% i used 35mm.. light n sharp.
tammy 1750 is best among them(third party 1750)
i rmb u brought the manual focus zeiss isit?

Crumpler Heaven(M) + Crumpler Barney Rustle Blanket, I'm not purely looking for a camera bag.. I looking for a bag that can carry my camera gear + ipad + other stuffs... I travel alot for vacations.. so water resistence + can carry water bottle, passport, ipad, DSLR, etc is a huge bonus tongue.gif There's many sling bag offer that too, but during travel sling / backpack is dangerous due to pickpocket. Messenger bag can easily slide to front and hug it. The sling I'm interested is the Crumpler Enthusiast..

Any recommendation other than crumpler to fit my needs?  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  drool.gif

I might get it from the local store when I get my 35mm this weekend..  brows.gif finally a prime lens!!

Edit : that Lowepro Transit Sling 250 AW not bad leh... how is the price? if significant cheaper I might get this instead of the crumpler combo~
Need to fit my above needs wor.. I only can find crumpler.. haha other bags is too pro for me..  rclxub.gif
*
There are many brands out there and most of them are way better than crumpler!

Your camera gear is still ok, need not worry biggrin.gif

I don't think it is a good idea to use a sling bag, it really does hurt on the shoulders after few hours of used when you travel..

I am using a ThinkTank Speed racer, its a sling with a belt to distribute the weight from your shoulder to your waist smile.gif

Fits a D4, 70200f2.8,1635f4,35f1.4,sb900 and nexus 7, filters, battery and could add a few more items

Here are some major camera bag brands
Kata, Thinktank, Lowepro, Vanguard

Yeah, go carbon and never look back.
You sure can fit all of them together?

On mine, one side 80-200mm f/2.8, middle will fit a D800 + 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, a 14-24mm f/2.8 and quite tight already.  sweat.gif Adding a SB910 speedlight on the little space on top of the 14-24mm f/2.8 will be tight.

Depending on the type of shooting, I take a Thinktank belt with Skin 50 and Skin 75 pouches and use Optech sling camera strap equipped with acra swiss clamp to grip my camera body attached with arca swiss plate.

If I want to take a little more on the go, I'll use my Thinktank Glass Taxi. It's been on the market for quite a while already but I find that it's pretty slim and small but yet able to carry quite a bit of gears.

If I need to take even more stuff, I use the Airport Navigator roller. Saves my back.
Nude some more.  biggrin.gif
*
Yeah its possible! and its quite comfortable too! Best part is that you could slot in the thinktank belt system pouch at the waist biggrin.gif But for events I would prefer the thinktank belt system! Not so bulky tongue.gif
