I hope the new Nikon 1 will be a lot more attractive now, though I suppose its not going to be really much when based on a Coolpix design T___T
Would be nice if its retro-looking hehe

QUOTE(copperwire93 @ Nov 28 2013, 04:50 PM) Thanks. Actually any speedlight will do I suppose? I'm noob with speedlight, don't know which model is good for a start, I heard there are two kinds of it, TTL and manual. My usual settings for macro are (*on FF): ISO 400 F16 1/250 flash 1/32 The trick is to channel the light directly onto the subject, which will require some DIY modifications I never really adjust the power of the flash unless if shooting (i) subjects that are far away i.e. dragonflies/damselflies; (ii) subjects that are resting on black background. So there's no real need for a very expensive flashgun, though you might have to make do with the slow cycling times or overheating when spamming shots QUOTE(jepertine90 @ Nov 28 2013, 04:54 PM) gratz on v23... we shld rename to national geographic... @[PF] T.J. is just spamming all those bugs and insect 80% of us never know.. haha QUOTE(Agito666 @ Nov 28 2013, 05:01 PM) dem, you makes me want to try on flash =3=... need save more for few months Flashgun good for portraits and events too yo, see CY sifu's photos all so nice, not that much harsh shadows but wat can i use with flash gun haha >_< event gua.... |

QUOTE(copperwire93 @ Nov 28 2013, 06:46 PM) F16 and low ISO, no wonder your shots are all great. Wah, why drag me into water? haha I always stick to f/7.1 for 'acceptable' DOF and change ISO to get more exposure, or sometimes just to speed up the shutter. Sometimes need to get to 1250 ISO, hence more prominent grains when cropping. Haiz... really need a flash gun lah. haha. Some more macro spams. PF T.J influenced me, blame him. Hahaha! » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I find shooting wasps/hornets are really easy for macro newcomer like me. They're big enough to get the focus. And although, they're venomous, they're also easy going (most of the time) you can get closer and they won't sting you right on sight. Except if continuously provoked by flash like the last picture, the yellowjacket preparing its venom for me. She gave the warning by lifting its abdomen part. I understood and walk away. Your photos are really good. I think many macro photographers are a bit too obsessed with getting higher magnification that at the end they only show the subject, and not what the subject is doing (which can sometimes be very interesting), keep it up! Love shots #2-4! #1 is a female Oxyopes birmanicus, whereas #2 is a Tetragnatha sp. (have to be able to see its big jaws to be able to ID) I've never got any proper flying shots of hornets or wasps T____T you are damn pro already haha~ And yeah, one good thing is that you will learn more about your subjects' behaviour other than just their diversity |

QUOTE(copperwire93 @ Nov 28 2013, 09:59 PM) Wahh... all nice moments shot. Especially that flame dance. Thanks man, I think the flame dance photo doesn't do the flame dancer justice Eh? Why the days layout same like Crocodile's » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Or maybe Crocodile's tiru Casio. Was really noob that time and didn't capture the moment properly. Shouldn't have focused so much on trying to get the exposure right. In contrast, I should have just up the shutter speed and lower the ISO until leaving only the flames and shadow lines of the body, should be nicer XD Anyways, always loved your still shots, very impressive considering you don't use flash (right?) QUOTE(copperwire93 @ Nov 28 2013, 10:39 PM) The purple watch is nice. And the point of view too. Ahh I see, thanks for sharing~Ya, no flash, just some lighting from the window. The rest are lightroom editing. Made a radial selection on the watch and underexposed everything else except inside the radius. Perhaps next time can try taking shots in the dark and use torchlight to paint the watch during long exposure shot, the effect should be quite nice too Dayum I don't have watch lol, and the same shooting technique cannot be used for girl watches I think since they are more cute-orientated XD QUOTE(tongweng @ Nov 28 2013, 10:42 PM) i understand nikon 70-200 f4 is sharp...but i heard someone saying "a f2.8 lens can be a f4 lens but f4 will never be f2.8" True, but the thing is that the jump from F4 to F2.8 involves a very big jump in terms of price too Thats why i am wondering so much hehe. There are alot more kind of photo i would like to try |
