Started this thread months ago, currently running a Palit GTX260 216SP, Would like to know whats the next GC to get if i wanna upgrade, just the GC, PC specs below fyi PSU - 750W CPU - AMD Phenom 9750 RAM - 4GB 800Mhz DDR2 Mobo - 1x PCIe 2.0 x16 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Hi all sifu this is my current PC spec. Looking to upgrade to play current gen games smoothly.. like SC2.. Arkham origins.. Not looking to future proof anything as i think the bottleneck in gaming is graphics only. I know windows experience index is not a good benchmark but i just screen capped it to show the spec currently i have 2 situations. 1. I have a haswell 3.1Ghz chip, could be used to build a new system , but requiring to buy a new motherboard and heatsink, possibly rams too as i think my current rams are DDR2. Total cost could be around 700+. And i will end up using Haswell onboard graphics, is this sufficient for current gen games @ mid/high settings? 2. have a 550W PSU lying around, get a new GPU which is compatible with my current hardware, cost could be lower ? what are the recommendations ? if im not mistaken, the onboard graphics is called Intel HD 4600. how does this compares up to current gen GPUs ?
if going for option 2, pls recommend me something like current gen mid range GPUs, of course must be significant upgrade over my current 9400GT

Both options would still make it easy for you to upgrade in the future.
Option 1 - You can get a new GPU in the future, but forget about playing modern games at the moment. Option 2 - You can always move your GPU to your new PC next time, but you can at least play some modern games now.
GTX660 would be a good upgrade for you, they're going about 800 I think.
