About that 400GB HDD. I'm planning to bring an external 3.5"HDD along. Should I check it in or carry-on? Also what's the procedure like to bring in a lappie?
Heard that you have to turn it on so they can be sure it's not a bomb or something. Same for the external HDD?

Do NOT check-in your laptop if you do want it back in one piece. Same goes for your HDD. Just bring it in as carry-on luggage. Tens of thousands of travellers (not just students) take their laptops along as carry-on every day, so why would customs worry about you.

I'd like to reinforce what Geminist said about TV licenses. If you're not willing to pay for the license, don't watch TV. Period.
