For large chains like Tesco, Sainsbury's etc2 they will accept payment of any amount using cards but smaller shops tend to have a '5 pounds and above only' policy.

It is for the receiver of the postal order. You don't have to have a back account to purchase one.

If they start to charge the number, then we can terminate the contract anytime and keep the phone. Check out clause 8.4c on O2 website smile.gif

but my fren tested just now it says number not recognised...and i have not have any agreement...so my new agreement maybe stated that it will be charged extra for international call...please advise..thanks
*
I called the number 30sec ago and it went through. Your friend's contract is direct from O2 or O2 via Carphone Warehouse (or other retailers)? All contracts will charge for international call. This number acts as 'proxy' to call international numbers, so this number is treated as a 'local' number.

errhh...from what i heard if u r signing new contract, orange can do that but o2 start charging it for those who start a new contract from 27th april 07,again that is what i HEARD(from other forum)...and regarding the 07xxxxx proxy, some can use it and some always get number busy...so need to be verified....
*
They started charging for 0844/0845 numbers for new contracts starting from 27th April 2007, but existing contracts would only be charged from 28th September 2007 (I'm in this category). However 0797 numbers are not included in the list of charged numbers. The 'proxy' numbers are quite busy on weekends/peak times but work fine on weekdays/off-peak.

Two of my mates who are taking O2 contracts via Carphone Warehouse have confirmed that they were charged for 0797 numbers in their last bills. So far only direct-from-O2 contracts can call 0797 numbers without being charged.

Anyone else received the same text?

Quite a cunning move from O2. They did not charge for 07 number but they suspended/blocked the 0797 service. Can anyone point out any clause regarding this in their T & C?

Hi all,

I am also a freshie over at the uk. Juz sign up coz i read this interesting post.
Juz a question, I'm currently using O2 but since they block the 07978 no, can i use a phone card to call international numbers instead? or is there any other way to use my free minutes without charging extras?
*
Make sure your calling card uses 0800 numbers and not 0844/0845/0797/charged numbers. VoIP providers such as VoIPCheap occasionally have promotions to let you call Malaysia for free given that you purchased a minimum calling credits from them. The catch is you have to use PCs to make the calls over the internet. VoIPStunt and SkypeOut also provide similar PC-to-phone VoIP calling. Their rates are quite competitive and sometimes cheaper than calling cards.

owh....ok. btw i heard of free phone stuff there. how does it work? u buy a pack and they give u free phone?? im feeling so blur  icon_question.gif and the free minutes from postpaid... is it for any calls to any telco or landline or juz between the O2 networks? so as the free text. and can u use them for free overseas calls? tongue.gif

There are contracts because the phones are subsidised by the telco. You have to pay monthly fixed bills, usually 12months or 18months (you have your own quota on how many minutes/text messages you can use etc). In return, they will give the phone for free. For more expensive phones, you may also be required to pay for the phone (a fraction of the price, the rest will be covered by the monthly bills), or simply by opting to submit to a higher tariff if you dont want to pay for the phone price (40-50 pounds for bill per month).

For prepaid, you pay for the phone at normal price and the phone offered are usually low-end and locked to the telco.
