In a mid size firm salary of a 2 year experienced LA (legal asst) is about RM3k-4k. In a small firm could be less but u may hit partnership track earlier and easier maybe. My friend hit his partnership in a 2 boss firm on his 5th year as an LA with salary of RM6k and profit share of 10%.Not much but not too badlah since this way he has no liabilities. Firm only does routine contract work anyway, hardly any litigation so worth it lah. Non stress.

In my time paralegals already go RM1.8k that was 10 years ago. Wow, u mean our market for law grads so depressed ke?

Seriously u can do waaaay more that be a paralegal, trust me. Find out what u enjoy or what interests you. Then find a job in tha field. Otherwise u will just hate your life.

do you like publishing?
with law degree you can be a legal editor
local law books publishers are Sweet & Maxwell, CCH, CLJ, MLJ...
they offer reasonable pay

I was a legal editor for 3.5 years

my dear, you are not qualified to give advice till you get your PC (practice certificate)... sweat.gif

with a UK degree, your knowledge in Malaysian Law is like zero without CLP...
so, how to give legal advice leh?

if you intend to do corporate... then I guess Legal Executive at Legal Department of big corporation is the job you're looking for...

few months ago there was such a vacancy in Jusco... (they're constantly recruting for this position... look out for it if you're interested)

Why dont u do the MAICSA exams and look into Company Secretary jobs? U even get some exemptions from exams coz of your LLB. Being COm Secretary for big companies will pay well once u have some experience. Its rather routine work but u will never run out of offers, really. ANd u can go quite high up the corporate ladder. If u get bored Corporate Reporting side esp for huge companies reporting to SC and public needs to be tracked and managed well by persons with legal and communications type background.

as you've seen from all these posts...
having a mere LL.B is just not enough!
even if you wanna skip CLP you'd still need to get some expertise in other fields
ie more studies... sweat.gif

company secretariat is a good idea
if you're determine to climb that ladder...
but you'd still need to get the cert...

so either way you'd still be forced to some further studies
no way to run sweat.gif

Had the same dilema as u b4 I took my CLP. Im currently takin my CLP exam on July BUT I think I'm prob flunking it coz of WORLD CUP... Personally I think the job market for a law grad without CLP is not very good here... Many of my frens without CLP moved to sales!
