whatever you think is good for you man smile.gif .. i suggest you look deeper about the problems and issues of g750. rog.asus.com/forum/ or notebookreview.com are good places.

the rules of thumb for new electronics purchase apply (lemons do exist among these well-built devices):
1. make sure the seller commit to one-to-one exchange/full refund for an agreed period (normally 7 days);
2. before that date expires, make sure each and every physical components that you will use commonly works out-of-box (dead pixels on screen; ports, headphone jacks, etc.). if anything is wrong, go for one-to-one.

good luck.

by the way, we only have g750JX with 770m currently. the 15.6" g56JR is on the way but i think the gpu in this range ages rather quickly.
*
Yeah, Malaysia only has G750JX, kind of sad.

I wonder if they will get G750JZ with 880m in later.

laptop graphics card in the domestic market is quite rare. they only can be brought through online auctions or trading. i think you can PM putochip123 about it, or try ask Prince J; i think they do supply those GC.

Hello, is there any way to create a recovery partition in a fresh OS, as per the partition(s) in the hard disk that came with the laptop? I didn't create anything with AlienRespawn but the old (failing) hard disk is still with me.
Thanks!

if you wanna have the stock system on your new disk, it's better to ask dell tech to help. if you're finding out the way to have a fresh OS and then create a recovery partition based on that fresh OS, i think the tutorials on how to do that can be found via google.

Hi all Alienware gurus,

I bit my tongue and placed order for an Alienware 17 which comes with "750GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s+64GB mSATA SSD Caching".

I know this might not be a best decision at this time knowing that GTX800M series launch is close and Alienware laptops might have refresh few months later, but I found a relatively good deal and due to personal reasons it's best for me to setup a new laptop now.

I want to move Window OS from the stock HDD to a new SSD which I will purchase later on.

I plan to do so by following the steps below once receive the unit:

1. Create a recovery drive on a USB thumb drive (16GB) and keep it safe;

2. Install the new 240GB SSD in the secondary drive bay of AW17;

3. Use Macrium Reflect to clone the OS from the stock 750GB HDD into the new 240GB SSD;

4. Remove the stock HDD from primary drive bay (boot drive) and install the SSD into it. Leave the HDD outside the laptop;

5. Once everything is fine, install the stock HDD into secondary bay, and format it empty to have it as storage drive.

Pls let me know if I have overlooked any minor detail in the above steps.

good decision smile.gif

as for the migration to the new ssd, i guess the steps will work. it's also better to set up the bios (sata operations) to ahci.

seems like after closed beta, BF4 is much more buggy than beta release. blink.gif

most of the times it's fine. (only weird bugs here and there) and there are times when the scene has a lot of explosions around you, the gpu power is not enough apparently. (rare cases; it happened only a few times)

the only problem is the latency. many times mati buta one :/

the new dlc second assault is coming on 18 feb. (like in one or two days) hopefully with it things could be better. (hope only)

I heard some Windows 8 notebooks nowadays doesn't come with recovery disk.
