QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Mar 8 2015, 05:58 PM) yeah. it's just around 75c max in my m17xr4 (definitely below 80c). however the problem is not the gpu temperature in my case. intermittent drops of gpu/vram clocks regardless of gpu temperature are the actual problem. it can drop to 150+mhz in-game, while the temperature is just 68c. i am using a desktop gpu driver mod by mr. fox of techinferno/nbr, with it overall game play is acceptable (running full clocks), and the effect is much less to occur. (every time i need to hide somewhere for a few seconds in-game because of serious fps drops) |

That was why I suggested to you to clean up cooling parts and replace the gpu thermal paste first. I use 880m in old aw so there might be incompatibility exists. I use a 330w ac adapter for my 17 btw. |

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 8 2015, 02:08 AM) er.. i didn't check it out yet but i think it's a dual-pipe. (however for some reasons the cpu temperature is much better than aw17 with 4900mq) waaa... so nice... 4930/4940MX + triple-pipe... steady~~~~ i am getting some triple-pipe cpu heat sinks for my aw18 next week anyway i wish my AW17 with that MX processor... |

QUOTE(azamalin @ Mar 9 2015, 06:25 PM) uh? please read my previous post to you in the previous page. i have suggested you a good thermal compound, where to get it, and how to treat it before application. apparently you didn't read it.yes, besides its abrasive nature, ic.diamond also leaves a dark mark on your heat sink. arctic cooling mx-4 is ok but still not as good. i have tested quite a number of thermal compounds, including ic.diamond, mx-4, tuniq tx-4, prolimatech pk2 and pk3, arctic silver 5, coolaboratory liquid ultra (clu), and gelid gc-extreme. so far the best results to me are clu and gc-extreme. gc-extreme is much safer so it's my personal preference. |

QUOTE(azamalin @ Mar 10 2015, 01:17 AM) QUOTE(azamalin @ Mar 10 2015, 02:37 AM) oh. You chose clu. It's a good choice but you have to be extra careful with it because it's electrically conductive. this was why I didn't recommend it in the first place. It also leaves a dark mark on your heat sink. To remove that you might need their own cleaning solution, or sand papers. It's not very soluble to arctic clean. When applying, remember to use only a very small amount on the heat sink and cpu die. Well just be extra careful with it. Edit: i cannot stress on this enough because clu can cause serious damages to components in a computer, including cpu, if you or someone you hired to do it are not careful during removal and application. Also, fyi it can corrode aluminium. So do not use it on aluminium heat sinks. Other than that, its performance is one of the best i must say.
