QUOTE(horns @ Oct 10 2014, 07:56 PM) don't worry CLU will do the trick pretty well. the max it can go is 88c. (non-air conditioned room temperature, about 30c) imo as long as it's not above 90c under load it's fine. (i am talking about playing games non-stop for more than 6 hours each session hehehe) I dont get it. Why not bigger fan for processor too in R4. :Sthe gpu temperature on the other hand is like 75c max. the good of triple pipes now my problem is the PCH. if i do long-hour gaming it will reach over 100c for sure. |

QUOTE(horns @ Oct 10 2014, 11:47 PM) bigger doesn't mean better. however they should have put in more powerful fans. rpm are slow i mean it should be blowing off more air out. The GPU fan blows out more air. Maybe my fan is spoiled and it is working on low rpm hmm.there is a fan mod tutorial at techinferno, http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17...fm-10-4cfm.html (using m14x r2 fans. cfm is much higher) but seriously, don't do that |

QUOTE(horns @ Oct 14 2014, 10:54 PM) yay. finally something worth waiting for Upgrade cost will be around 3kRM imo.i have the same question on my mind lol! as long the card has same layout design i don't see any problem. we can use the same gpu heat sink. (talking about standards, they should share the same layout theoretically hehe) |

QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Oct 15 2014, 08:23 AM) GTX 980M Is below 3k. I am definitely in, especially if thr are swap + top up deals too!. GTX 970M is below 2k GTX 970M perform better than GTX 780M and GTX 880M. Maxwell (9xx) starting price is cheaper than Kepler (7xx, 8xx) cards. I hope can bring some cheap GTX 780M and GTX 880M to sell here with lower price than my current selling price. But the real question is, can a 980M be used on M17xR4 |

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 26 2014, 10:33 PM) great news! clevo's 980m works well natively in aw17/18, without bios/vbios modding (a.k.a. plug and play, literally). previously aw18 was reported to be unable to run slevo's 980m.sli. it turned out that it can. the catch is to run them in uefi mode delThis post has been edited by mansooriqbal: Nov 27 2014, 03:27 AM |

QUOTE(horns @ Dec 1 2014, 10:09 PM) Note: for those who wish to upgrade their gpu in m17x r4, don't go for 880m. what about 780M?From my extensive tests after updated everything to the latest under w8.1 in a m17xr4, it's true that all latest drivers are crippling performance of the card, resulting in very terrible performance for gaming. The only place it can go now is aw17/18 with the right vbios. What a disappointment :/ nvidia has done something to make their own product to run at lower than advertised speed :// |
