hi all expert,
I intend to build a brick wall (about 20ft long x 8ft height) beside the fence.
this is to get some privacy from neighbors.
what's the estimated cost to build this size of wall?

A rough budget price used by quantity surveyors around KL when determining the value of work completed is RM25/sqft for std brick wall.

you have 160sgft so a good starting point would be 160 x rm25 = Rm4,000

so +/- need to occur to take account of footings rqd and size of job.

Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if you get quotes in the range RM3.6k-rm5k.

Cheers

does the RM25/sqft include material, or just labor alone?

Hi,

My current contractor quoted me RM250 pfr for a normal(no pocket/opening) or install decorative stones) brick wall of standard height up to 6 feet..this includes materials, labour and the concrete foundation..so bro Sydney's rough estimation will be quite close

Check if it is legal to have 8' wall. I read somewhere in this forum that there are some regulations as to height of fencing.

I'm currently some reno including a wall. From my observatikns, do Ask your contractor;

1. Footing (base or foundation)
2. Pillar (gap)
3. Wire mesh between brick layers
4. Plastering thickness
5. Brick (red, grey, hollow etc)

Not all walls are buit the same!

bro sekkee,
my floor level and next door have a different of 1-2 ft height.
at my site, the fence is about 8ft tall. at his site, should be around 6ft normal height.

RM250 pfr for 6ft high wall.
Meaning RM250/6' = RM41.67/ft2.

6ft may not pass, most are 5ft. You may want to confirm with the local council, and last time I was told you need some visibility too hence you see the fencing have some opening.

If illegal height your neighbor can report and you need to demolish it.
