So let me get this straight,

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Results :

RM 33 + 8.80 = RM 41.8 [Initial startup]
RM 0.50 X 4 = RM 2.00 [Transfer (SIM 2) into (SIM 1)]
RM 1 Every 7 days = RM 52 [For 365 Days]

Total cost RM 95.80 for 365 Days (1st Year)

2nd Year
Reload RM 133 into (SIM 1)
RM 33 [(SIM 1) Validity365]
RM 1 Every 7 Days = RM 52

Total cost RM 85.00 for 365 Days (2nd Year)

Imaginary cost per year is roughly RM 90.00
but Reality cost is RM 140 per year. (There's no such RM 133 reload)

Condition assumed :
1) HYC will auto-revert into normal hotlink plan after expires
2) RM 10 Transfer per day [Which is below RM 20 restriction]
3) RM 15.50 balance is required for (SIM 2)
4) (SIM 2) has reached 3 months tenure(* Just got changed to 6 months) service to Maxis/Hotlink [The RM 100 Top-up], thus able to share/received share-a-topup.
5) RM 0.50 cost is deducted on side which give out the share-a-topup. Not both side

Pic of 6 months tenure

Apparently, I was still able to connected to 2G/3G even after validity expired. Somewhat good news for now.

Regarding the tenure with maxis/hotlink, I notice is actually like this:

For a new #hotlink SIM prepaid user.

You need 3 months with tenure to be able to "received" share-a-topup. However, you need 6 months tenure to be able to "give" share-a-topup.

In worst case scenario :-
Let's say Maxis/Hotlink decided to instill "only in active period" are eligible to surf 64 kbps for free. i.e. : Need to keep topup RM30 for 30 days validity.

Combining the situation with 6 months tenure with maxis/hotlink. In order for the "tricks" to work, we need a new #hotlink SIM with 6 months tenure. That is the worst case. Provided the share-a-topup rules stay the same.

I'm not sure will the 50 days grace period will "refreshed" after topup with RM5/10 on the 49th day in the grace period though. Hopefully they refreshed tongue.gif

yeah..same with dat guy, but im a bit in luck today. called the call center 1300 number (not toll free). they guided me to change the setting on *100#.

because when we use free basic internet, we are in "Hotlink" profile.. when use the WBB (broadband), we are in "Wireless Broadband" profile. So it require me to change the "Tetapan" (settings).
Note: This is not the same with the phone internet profile settings that u can change in the phone, things like APN or etc is not suppose to disturb.

To revert back to free basic internet, just do this:
*100# > 01 (seterusnya) > select "Internet an Tetapan" > select "4 Hotlink Broadband" > "01 Seterusnya" > "01 Seterusnya" > select "11 Tukar Profil Perkhidmatan" - so it will send u an sms to inform the profile change confirmation.

Very hassle, because they put the menu at the very back of the system.
*
I believe there's shortcut in navigating this type of menu.

Assume that the menu is unchanged, to directly go into that particular menu. Just key in (assume Internet an Tetapan is 9)

*100#01#9#4#01#1#

This will bring you straight into the menu which display "11 Tukar Profil Perkhidmatan", kinda forgot how actually it is cause this technique is used by the phone shop that I went few years back.

Wrong,

Example, if you want to buy internet that uses bbnet's APN:

*100*9*4#

Hi, just an update.

Previously I was using free internet while in "grace period".

on 23rd Jan 2014, I was still in "grace period". Line termination was due on 7th Feb 2014. Connect of H/H+ still visible, however there was no incoming data. It's like a dead data plan. [I've check mobile data used : around 150MB; so over 3GB quota is out of the question]

To confirm is not the Maxis side error, i waited until evening. But no avail. So I try reload RM 10. Immediately after successfully reload, the free internet working again.

insight : Probably Maxis fixed some bug.

can't change back if you have changed to #hotlink.
if you really want to change, before you change, purchase validity365 first, then only change to #hotlink.
so for the next 1 year you can use the basic internet for free without the need to top up.
*
Just read it and checked at hotlink web :

QUOTE
Do I still retain all my existing Hotlink benefits after migration to #Hotlink?

All Hotlink benefits will be retained, except for purchases of Validity 90, Validity 365.

yes, which is why before convert to #hotlink, purchase for validity365 for the final time and then only convert.
for the next 1 year no need to top up and can use free basic internet.
but the 2nd year will need to top up and that time no more validity365 available.
*
I thought the FAQ meant : The benefit of validity90 and validity365 will not passed on to #hotlink. e.g.: The valid period "reset" to 5 days. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Apparently reload via MaxisPay(include via *100*4*6#) would bug the FOC Internet. You'll be topup but won't able to surf with only exception Hotlink RED and Hotlink website.

Note* : Only happen when you're reloading when you're inactive.

The incoming data stopped. Have to reactivate manually on Maxis side. It's like you get banned for not active. And unable to unban.

Reloading via CIMBclicks or Kwik should working fine

did the cs explained to you the reason?

No, haven't fully explain it. But for now, it's better to avoid reloading via MaxisPay. unless you're looking for the reloading amount, not the 64kbps.

i think hotlink will choose the longest validity for you with a minimum of 30 days when switching.

my situation:
- i reloaded rm30 in early april 2014 so my validity was extended to somewhere in may 2014
- i bought validity365 somewhere in mid or end april 2014
- the 365 days added to my validity from my new validity period in may 2014, instead of from the date i bought validity365 in april
- i switched to the new #hotlink plan and the 30+365 validity period follow (my new validity = may 2015)

dgboy situation:
- his validity was less than 30 days when he switched to another hotlink plan
- his validity reset to 30 days because that's the minimum validity given to a user after switching
- assume that his validity period is 36 days before he switched, the 36 days validity period will follow instead of being reset to 30 days

Thanks, that's clear some doubts.
