I have also thought about that, and damn sure Maxis has also saw the loophole.

Thus

your plan won't work (at least not fully)

because

NOW at present, Hotlink Share-A-Topup or Ask-A-Topup can only performs max RM20 transactions per day, and max RM100 per month.

So if you want to transfer RM100 from one hotlink to another, you have to do 5 times over 5 days, and with costs of (RM0.50 x 5 times)

if that's the case, just change step (6) from rm100 to rm20. so instead of a fee of rm0.50 to transfer rm100 back from #hotlink plan to hotlink plan, it would be an additional of rm2 of fee to become rm2.50 in total.

still not bad in the end right? hmm.gif

Indeed, it is still cheap...
all in
70 days of Free internet would costs RM7.50 (i.e. RM3.21 per month)
but with certain drawbacks
a) have to maintain 2 sim
b) suppose SIM 1 - old Hotlink plan with Hotlink 365/Activ10 numbers for calling
c) SIM 2 - #Hotlink plan for free internet every 10 days
d) hassle to do the transfer every 10 days

I think with the credit in SIM 2 - the money is safe there, cause once the line is inactive - you can't use the internet and thus not charged per kb <----- NOT SURE, have to confirm. Don't want a situation where I forget to do the transfer to keep SIM 2 active, and have it eat all the credit inside.

==================
As for me, saw the opportunity to have free internet albeit at 64kbps for a full one year 365 days + 100 days with my old Hotlink plans(in deactive period).
- top up RM100 get 100 days active + extra RM5
- subscribe to Hotlink365 (RM33) so that adds 365 days to 100 days
- upgrade to #Hotlink plan (RM5) and have 365 days+100 days of free internet.
- transfer out any leftover credit to other old Hotlink numbers which doesn't want to migrate to this #hotlink plan.

Not bothered with losing out on Activ10 - as phone seldom make calls , further more it is an Old Extra Plan, where the call rate are very expensive. So this #Hotlink call rate better for my case. But the call rate is definitely not good for those who utilizes the Activ10 numbers often.

Also not bothered with losing out on the Hotlink365 at the end of the (365 + 100 days)... can MNP out, or maybe things will change after one year whereby all telcos will give free basic internet... 465 days is a long time.

Although RM3.21 per month is good, I have heard of other MVNO that can provide affordable deals <RM8 per month unlimited with 600MB @ 364kbps with One year validity as well. But it seems only ppl with access to Genting Casino can apply. Dunno if the deals are still valid today.

After top up RM100 then subscribe to hotlink 365, validity is still 365 right? It doesn't stack.

And can we buy the hotlink plan that can subscribe to hotlink 365? All new hotlink is #hotlink right?

As far as I recall from when I first subscribed, it does stack though there must be some limit.

However, because there is the rule that you have to top up minimum RM30 in the first 6 months of the 365 days term, then I do not recommend topping up RM100 beforehand.

#hotlink is the only plan right now for new activations and port-in. I am trying to persuade Maxis to add an alternative prepaid plan that's optimized for call and SMS, and has lifetime validity.

Yup someone said they bought 365 validity then convert to #hotlink plan it still valid for the duration.
I havent tried it yet though.

How do u persuade them to do so? U got connection to their CEO ah?

Btw victorywp in your theory, it requires 2 card to share topup with means the actual costs are RM2.50 x 2 right?

The RM30 requirement is no longer required.
I think there used to be a requirement to have at least one top-up of any value after Hotlink365, but even this is rescinded with Validity365.

read it somewhere in Maxis forum.

The stacking of 100 days on top of Validity365 is also confirmed in there. Seems like that is the maximum one can get at one go.

If you have an old Hotlink plan with option to subscribe to Validity365 - YES.. .365 validity is extended to your current validity days.

However all new Hotlink simpacks, and newly MNP are immediately placed under #hotlink plan with no option to subscribe to the Validty365.
Hope you understand.

The stuff the thread is discussing is for ppl with old Hotlink plan contemplating the pros and cons of migrating to this new #Hotlink. The thread starter mentioned how you can get free basic internet (at minimal costs) only if you have access to an old plan.

As mentioned, the downside of #Hotlink plan is you have no Active10, and no Validity365 and reduced deactive period from 90 days to 50 days. So calls and SMS are effectively more expensive, but then Maxis already giving you free internet @64kbps, in essence majority will be whatsapp/wechat instead of calling/sms anyway.

However if you look at the pros of it, for those who tops up monthly of at least RM30, or even wants to take advantage of the RM30/1GB per month subscription... it is worthwhile migrating to the #Hotlink plan. Coz even in deactive period, as long as the RM30/1GB per month still valid - can still use internet at "Supercharged" speed.

QUOTE(victorywp @ Nov 25 2013, 03:12 PM)
for those who are an existing hotlink plan users and looking for unlimited internet usage with the new #hotlink plan, you may try this:

1) maintain your existing hotlink plan (don't convert your existing plan to #hotlink plan).

2) buy one new #hotlink plan at rm8.80 (for unlimited internet access).

3) for the new #hotlink plan purchase, you will have rm5 for 5 days validity (can use unlimited internet for 5 days).

4) after the expiry, do share-a-topup from your existing hotlink plan with an amount of rm10 for 7 days validity (with service charge of rm0.50 fee per time) to your new #hotlink plan.

5) repeat step (4) for 10 times every 7 days, which means you will get 70 days validity after rm100 transferred from your existing hotlink plan to new #hotlink plan.

6) after 70 days, do a share-a-topup transferring the rm100 from your new #hotlink plan back to your existing hotlink plan (with a minimal service charge of rm0.50 fee again).

7) repeat (4) to (6) cycle every 70 days for more unlimited internet usage at minimal cost.

8) in this way, you are actually buying 70 days validity for your #hotlink (unlimited internet access) at a minimal cost of rm5.50 (including the final fee of rm0.50).

amount and validity for share-a-topup
Amount Validity Period
RM2 - RM3 1 day
RM4 - RM5 2 days
RM6 - RM9 3 days
RM10 - RM100 7 days

U buy RM10 from him for 7 days for RM9.60 meaning u need RM9.60 x 4 for 1 month.
Compared to if u buy RM30 reload card u can get 30 days.

But unless u dont use the credits you bought, instead u "sell" back to him at lower price then probably its cheaper compared to buying RM30 reload card.

1) for hotlink to transfer rm10/time to #hotlink cost you rm0.50 x 10 times (transfer every 7 days) to get 70 days validity = rm5.00 cost.
2) for #hotlink to transfer rm20/time back to hotlink cost you rm0.50 x 5 times (transfer every day) = rm2.50 cost.

total cost is rm7.50 for 70 days validity on your #hotlink.

however, if you don't mind to keep the money in #hotlink (maybe you seldom use activ10 and prefer to call your friends at other network operators using #hotlink), then you don't have to incur the cost for (2), meaning that your total cost is only rm5 for 70 days. nod.gif

QUOTE(victorywp @ Nov 25 2013, 02:12 PM)
for those who are an existing hotlink plan users and looking for unlimited internet usage with the new #hotlink plan, you may try this:

*
So with the restrictions to the Share-A-Top-UP for New Hotlink numbers, (2 or 3 months tenure before be able to share or receive top-up); that adds more complexity to these method described above.

Would have to top-up at least RM90 for 90 days on the new #Hotlink number, or keep the number active/deactive periods for 90 days.

I have always thought you need 3 months usage before be able to Share "OUT", definitely didn't know a new Hotlink number would also need 3 months to Share "IN" credit.

you are right. maybe will just leave it deactive and only top up before service termination within the first 90 days.

dunno about the switching to #Hotlink plan as you have described. Most probably there is a 6 months tenure to a year, before these newly purchased plans can migrate to #Hotlink OR other hidden requirements unknown to us.

When I changed mine to #Hotlink plan with 465 days - I guess a lot of things will change in that time. Surprise the changes came so early.

so when did you successfully switched using your idea to 465 days? seems like maxis is afraid more and more people doing the switching following the tricks mentioned here... rolleyes.gif

I have done it already..... in fact did it two times,

First time, in my family there is a Hotlink number in deactive period. We were thinking of letting it terminate after 90 days, until this #Hotlink plan came about. I top-up RM30+RM10 from M2U, and realised the 30 days adds to the 365 days.
(I top up RM40 total because it costs RM33 for HL365 and another RM5 to migrate to #Hotlink Plan)

Second time, after confirmation from maxis forum, and realising that Maximum validity per any amout of top up is 100 days for RM100, I proceeded to top-up RM100 with M2U on a second Old hotlink plan (which so happens to have just expired its HL365). So I got RM100 +RM5 bonus, and then used RM38 total to get 365 +migrate to #Hotlink. So total 100 days + 365 days VALIDITY. Then over 3 days, moved the rest of the RM60 credit out to a third Hotlink number which only expires its HL365 next year and have no intention of migrating for this third number.

All this is confirmed in the MAxis forum..... you don't have to believe me if you are suspicious of me.

I only meant to inform the masses with the experience and info that I have, don't want others jumping in after just reading your first post. So I thought it would be best to update your guide.

Probably as mentioned by @dgboy, he was trying to convince Maxis to bring back plans with long live validity, after #Hotilnk plan disables this feature.

So if I am to guess, Maxis took up the consideration - and reintroduced back the old plans, but one can only purchase these plans in official Maxis centers and not outside phone shops.

And I am sure Maxis would have known about "HL365+#Hotlink" loop hole. Thus I am very sure there are certain requirements in these new sim packs that is only available for purchase in official Maxis centers.

What these requirements are - I dunno. I can only guess....
either
- cannot migrate to #Hotlink
- can only migrate after 6 months
- can migrate after 1 year
- etc.....

No need to have spies here... there is so much information and Q&A in the maxis forum - I am very sure Maxis personnel are aware of the loophole.

In fact there already taken into account of that loophole.

HOW?

Because it costs me RM38 to have 13 months of Free basic internet.
If you work it out... it costs.. RM2.90 a month

or if I have topup RM100... then
RM38 + RM 1.50 transfer fee for 465 days.
Then it works out to be RM2.54 per month.

So... I suspect... Maxis can live with that if customer can commit those amounts monthly.

Further more, all these can only be done one time, after that... cannot do again after 13 months, or 465 days. As I mentioned, I saw the opportunity, calculated the costs, analysed the situation and took it up. Hotlink prepaid has all these cheap promo which might come in handy as well i.e. RM1=1GB(2am-7am)... etc.

==============

So your guide in its present description in the first post is flawed after Maxis put in all these restrictions.

this free unlimited internet is only basic internet which allows you to surf with speeds of up to 64kbps only.
fb/twitter/whatsapp/google search is not a problem. viber may be slow.

So let me get this straight,

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Results :

RM 33 + 8.80 = RM 41.8 [Initial startup]
RM 0.50 X 4 = RM 2.00 [Transfer (SIM 2) into (SIM 1)]
RM 1 Every 7 days = RM 52 [For 365 Days]

Total cost RM 95.80 for 365 Days (1st Year)

2nd Year
Reload RM 133 into (SIM 1)
RM 33 [(SIM 1) Validity365]
RM 1 Every 7 Days = RM 52

Total cost RM 85.00 for 365 Days (2nd Year)

Imaginary cost per year is roughly RM 90.00
but Reality cost is RM 140 per year. (There's no such RM 133 reload)

Condition assumed :
1) HYC will auto-revert into normal hotlink plan after expires
2) RM 10 Transfer per day [Which is below RM 20 restriction]
3) RM 15.50 balance is required for (SIM 2)
4) (SIM 2) has reached 3 months tenure(* Just got changed to 6 months) service to Maxis/Hotlink [The RM 100 Top-up], thus able to share/received share-a-topup.
5) RM 0.50 cost is deducted on side which give out the share-a-topup. Not both side

Pic of 6 months tenure

Just postulating here, dunno if this method will work or not. But lets think about it.

A question before I continue :- Is the tenure of a new #Hotlink pack required 3 months or 6 months before it is able to use the Share-A-topup or Ask-A-Topup??

Anyway,

My thoughts are such,

Get another friend or family, to purchase #Hotlink plan - after the tenure required, then just transfer RM10 every week to each other.

Eg:- Every Monday morning, both person transfer RM10 to each other. Each will incur a costs of RM0.50. Thus a monthly costs of having free basic internet will be RM0.50 x 4 = RM2.00 per person. And both person would have the free basic internet @ 64kbps.

Pro - Rm2.00 per month
Cons - Have to find another family/friend who wants the same setup.

previously my sister told me need 3 months tenure with maxis was on 29/11 and WaCKy-Angel reported the same on 9/12.
however, myself379 reported on 14/12 that it's now 6 months tenure with maxis, instead of 3 months.

that's yet another great plan from you! +1 rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

but as per inform by many users (including my sister), now #hotlink still allow users to use the unlimited internet even though their validity has expired. drool.gif
so basically users now not even need rm2 per month yet (as per your idea). laugh.gif

That is good news indeed. Maybe Maxis decided to bring it up a level in the competition by giving free internet @64kbps with no conditions.

Better late than never.

If this is the case, then expect more freebies from other telcos.

Apparently, I was still able to connected to 2G/3G even after validity expired. Somewhat good news for now.

Regarding the tenure with maxis/hotlink, I notice is actually like this:

For a new #hotlink SIM prepaid user.

You need 3 months with tenure to be able to "received" share-a-topup. However, you need 6 months tenure to be able to "give" share-a-topup.

In worst case scenario :-
Let's say Maxis/Hotlink decided to instill "only in active period" are eligible to surf 64 kbps for free. i.e. : Need to keep topup RM30 for 30 days validity.

Combining the situation with 6 months tenure with maxis/hotlink. In order for the "tricks" to work, we need a new #hotlink SIM with 6 months tenure. That is the worst case. Provided the share-a-topup rules stay the same.

I'm not sure will the 50 days grace period will "refreshed" after topup with RM5/10 on the 49th day in the grace period though. Hopefully they refreshed tongue.gif

That is the flaw we already highlighted, and indicated at the top of the very first post.

As for the grace period/deactive period of 50 days.... every time you top-up/share-a-top-up, the grace period is reset back. That much is for sure.

Maxis is aware of the problem, and working on it. You are not the only one experiencing this lag with instagram on #hotlink plan.

==================
As for me, saw the opportunity to have free internet albeit at 64kbps  for a full one year 365 days + 100 days with my old Hotlink plans[cool.gif(in deactive period).
- top up RM100 get 100 days active + extra RM5
- subscribe to Hotlink365 (RM33) so that adds 365 days to 100 days
- upgrade to #Hotlink plan (RM5) and have 365 days+100 days of free internet.
- transfer out any leftover credit to other old Hotlink numbers which doesn't want to migrate to this #hotlink plan.[/B]

Dunno if the deals are still valid today.

your current hotlink365 validity will be maintained..... when you migrate to #Hotlink plan,

but when your current hotlink365 expired, then you don't have the option to re-subscribe again to 365, as this option is no longer available after you migrate to the free 64kbps plan .

i've been wondering this for long time now, when the time come that we want to resubscribe to hotlink365 can't we just migrate to plan that allow it, then after successful resubscribe, we remigrate back to #hotlink and retain the extra validity?

or does maxis being tricky again and doesn't allow plan migrationa, or allow plan migration but with/after tenure? hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

migrate to #hotlink plan is one-way street currently

if maxis changed this in the future, it would likely only allow allow migration to a newer plan that lacks the 365 option

yes migrating to #hotlink is one way, and from here we can't reverse or changed back to older plans.

we can only hope that Maxis introduce another plan down the line, which allows 365 days subscription.

I believe this has happened before, 2/3 years back Maxis introduced a plan that with RM5 top-up for 3 months validity (0-days grace period and no 365 days subscription)... later they introduce another plan called "New Hotlink Plan/ Hotlink 3.0" with 365 days subscription. Now, this latest plan called "#Hotlink" plan ... with no 365 days.

as I know, all these extended validity options were introduced by the telcos under pressure from skmm

however, the signs are that the telcos are slowly pulling the plug on long life plans.. as they introduces new plans without it and with even shorter grace periods, such as 50, 60 and 75 days instead of the original standard 90 days

I also sensed some gentle hints from CS replies in Maxis Forum that the 365 days option may not be available from Hotlink in the future

anyway, we shall see what happens

did you signed up the hotlink broadband wbb 1day 200mb?
anyway, by right it won't make changes to your free internet basic.
have you tried restart your phone and check again?
but recently many did experience unconnectivity or instability of connection to the free internet basic.

yeah..same with dat guy, but im a bit in luck today. called the call center 1300 number (not toll free). they guided me to change the setting on *100#.

because when we use free basic internet, we are in "Hotlink" profile.. when use the WBB (broadband), we are in "Wireless Broadband" profile. So it require me to change the "Tetapan" (settings).
Note: This is not the same with the phone internet profile settings that u can change in the phone, things like APN or etc is not suppose to disturb.

To revert back to free basic internet, just do this:
*100# > 01 (seterusnya) > select "Internet an Tetapan" > select "4 Hotlink Broadband" > "01 Seterusnya" > "01 Seterusnya" > select "11 Tukar Profil Perkhidmatan" - so it will send u an sms to inform the profile change confirmation.

Very hassle, because they put the menu at the very back of the system.

I believe there's shortcut in navigating this type of menu.

Assume that the menu is unchanged, to directly go into that particular menu. Just key in (assume Internet an Tetapan is 9)

*100#01#9#4#01#1#

This will bring you straight into the menu which display "11 Tukar Profil Perkhidmatan", kinda forgot how actually it is cause this technique is used by the phone shop that I went few years back.

yes, i already suspect you signed up the hotlink broadband wbb 1day 200mb.
because there is no 200mb for rm3 in hotlink profile. biggrin.gif

Hi, just an update.

Previously I was using free internet while in "grace period".

on 23rd Jan 2014, I was still in "grace period". Line termination was due on 7th Feb 2014. Connect of H/H+ still visible, however there was no incoming data. It's like a dead data plan. [I've check mobile data used : around 150MB; so over 3GB quota is out of the question]

To confirm is not the Maxis side error, i waited until evening. But no avail. So I try reload RM 10. Immediately after successfully reload, the free internet working again.

insight : Probably Maxis fixed some bug.

LMAO...

Now I know Maxis staff really didn't do their homework when they introduce new prepaid plans.

share-A-Top-Up no longer entitle for "Free Basic Internet".

Those caught upgrading from old prepaid plan to this #Hotlink plan, now have every right to ask to change back to previous Hotlink plan with 365, Hotlink5 and Hotlink 10 and 90 days grace period.

This is ridiculous from Maxis, once they found out their folly... they impose new restrictions on share-a-topup. These are not loopholes we subscribers took advantage, these are services provided by Maxis. Chop and change as they like.
The management team has to be sacked for not doing their research.

People pay 50 cents to share a top-up to keep their active period ... and they have every right to enjoy the free basic internet as per advertise in their promotion for the #Hotlink plan. More so for those subscribers who upgraded from old plans. I would say they are more or less conned into upgrading to this ridiculous #Hotlink plan which at present doesn't recognise [Ask-A-Topup (include Share-A-Top Up / Postpaid Top Up / Maxis Pay / Auto Top Up / SOS Top Up] as valid options to keep their line active with free internet perks as advertised.

Truly believe, these chaps at Maxis didn't realise 2 friends use the same plan, and share RM10 every week with each other to enjoy the free internet. What a bunch of idiots.

So stupid, they should have also disable the Share-A-Topup along with the Validity365, Hotlink5, Hotlink10, 90 days grace period..... when subscribers upgraded from old plan to #HOtlink plan.

One of the first question to come from subscribers when the promo came out... was "Share-A -TOp-up" still valid??? and those idiots say .. ya, still can transfer.

Now a lot of ppl are caught in a predicament.... have to topup Rm30 to keep their number instead of RM33 for a year in old plans.

I guess they should ask to change back to old plans, or port out if they don't intend to be cheated by idiots.

They better have some firefighting measures, as I am sure a lot of subscribers are pissed off with such measures introduced on the #HOtlink plan.

I am sure quite a few will opt to just MNP out , and end their relationship with Maxis.

A plan that looks so promising might prove to be Maxis downfall now.

What is the difference in using 'unet' and 'bbnet' APN? I'm using 'unet' as APN on my mobile phone, I tether to my notebook, the connection is sometimes hit and miss.

Hi guys, was thinking about switching to this plan from my Youth Club plan which is expiring this year. How's the speed of this free internet for Waze usage? And upon activation there is a 5 day active period, upon top up how long will this active period be extended? Is it lik RM5 topup for 5 days active period?

it's free basic internet so the speed is 64kbps only. yes rm5 reload is 5 days, rm10 is 10 days, and so on...

Wow, if that's the case I'd rather retain my current youth club and get RM30 for 1GB/month

How about Umobile's new prepaid plan, RM10 for 10MB free high speed internet, after exceeding RM10 isit pay per use or free at capped speed?

the advantage is that your reload amount rm5 for 5 days is for validity period but your mobile data is free and unlimited (you need to stay active to use free internet). the amount you top up can be used fully for calling or sms (no internet data charges).

Overall its a decent plan especially for people like me. My main usage of internet is for whatsapp, fb msg and waze only and with this plan i am able to use the unlimited internet for all. Yes the line will get unstable sometimes but then its free.

I get myself a new phone and get the latest #Hotlink number to use the so call free internet services like WhatsApp and Waze.

But then again, when I read through this thread it seems that some said "share a Top-up" is not valid or required 3 mths to do so. Which is true ?

I have HYC which I retained in my old phone and extended to 365 days. I do not think I will upgrade the plans and leave it as it is but for my new phone which I just want to enjoy those internet basics, am I able to transfer credit out to my HYC after the tenure of 3 mths ?

Guess I will only know and keep reloading after 3 mths which I then transfer the credit to my extend period of 365 days since I barely use any credit on the new Hotlink plans since basic internet is provided smile.gif

Thanks for the clarification.

"ACTIV10 is now also available to #Hotlink"

Yes, Maxis made this change in response to user feedback.

However, don't expect Validity 365 - no telco is going to give you "free" internet for 9 sen per day.

It would be good if users have option to subscribe to 128kbps plan. Don't mind paying a monthly for it. Just a suggestion.

just to have validity365 available for #hotlink, but the charges can be more than rm33/year of course. and/or they can set a certain requirement like minimum reload amount within that 1 year.

6sen/30sec, 1sen/SMS with ACTIV10
12sen/30sec, 7sen/SMS to all local networks

You can ask Maxis for older prepaid plan instead of #hotlink, but you do have to ask. Best to drop in Maxis Centre.

that's my suggestion to maxis/hotlink that they still can give users validity365 for #hotlink plan, maybe charge higher than rm33/year and impose requirements for reloading within the 365 days period. better than not allowing validity365 for #hotlink at all.

that's my suggestion to maxis/hotlink that they still can give users validity365 for #hotlink plan, maybe charge higher than rm33/year and impose requirements for reloading within the 365 days period. better than not allowing validity365 for #hotlink at all.

assuming maxis won't be of this kind bcoz they bank on users to keep reloading their account staying active only then can enjoy the basic free internet.

else if only one fees per year, users can what'sapp whole year, no sms, no call.... maxis financially crisis.

months ago, a top executive from a singapore telco even suggesting they start to charge singaporean using whatsapp and the like apps sweat.gif

obciously their target is for users to keep reloading.
but seriously, reload rm1 for 1day validity for some people like me who rarely sms and call really hard to finish sweat.gif
only umobile were kind enough to give longer validity for each reload.

Hi guys, may I know id HOTLINK & Basic are two different packages? what are the main difference?

I just bought a Basic sim and would like to buy RM1 daily pass from time to time to get faster connection but couldn't find it in *100#. Is there anything I need to do or wrong code I go to to subscribe to the RM1 daily pass?

Hi, I would like to ask some question about #Hotlink plan before I decide to MNP smile.gif

1) For example if I purchase RM40 (RM30 + RM10 separately) top-up every month, did I get extra 10 days to bring forward to next month? (I mean is RM40=40days validity?)
2) What is the average H+ and LTE speed for #Hotlink 1GB RM30 plan? (Any location is okay just wanna see its speed)
3) Is the LTE connection stable for you?

Thank you very much smile.gif

For #1, you can try this page: http://new.hotlink.com.my/en/rewards/top-up-rewards.html

For connectivity, #Hotlink LTE will only be available if you subscribe to the mobile internet plans. Coverage and speed will depend on area. Just as long your plan is still valid, then you can have the basic 64kbps at no extra charge.

I suggest you just buy a sim pack, subscribe to the 1 day mobile internet pass and try out in the areas you frequent. See if the connection is good enough for you before you port in with your main line.

i top up rm30, used that rm30 to buy 1GB monthly plan which support LTE, but then i saw maxis disregard the top up 30 days vailidity after buying the 1gb monthly plan, means no count, still at the old expiry date. but can use data for 1 month.

another thing, after buying the #hotlink simpack, to enjoy LTE u need to swap for LTE simcard. the trick is the latest #hotlink simcard came in the pack looks identical to the 128k LTE simcard (a standard sim with pre-cut microsim design), a maxis dealer (not center) customer service personnel last time confirmed me no need swap saying this is the one, but after days of try, finally discovering it is still 32k simcard, got to swap. so better go to maxis own service center to change.

I think I gonna ask them clearly before I MNP to #Hotlink, if buying 1GB RM30 plan will deduct 30 days from active period, I rather stick with DiGi Super Long Life 365 days validity sweat.gif (My plan is buy RM 40 [RM10+RM30] per month for 1GB internet and call, no point to MNP if I only can use 10 days for calling every month)

Maybe it is a bug for u, try go to Maxis Forum and ask the CS team too

Hotlink is getting cruel sweat.gif
Maybe they are going to introducing back Validity365 soon brows.gif (I can dream rolleyes.gif)

Edit: I know their new plan, they are taking off the slow 64kbps internet and replace it with free social messaging so ppl can't complain the net is slow when they are using those apps anymore tongue.gif

thats what i thought too...
maybe too many complaint due to validity365 not available hmm.gif

and you're right about the elimination of free basic internet, because stupid ignorant people complaint about its being to slow. what would u expect for 64kbps anyway...
i read maxis forum, some idiot even complaint about its not reaching 64kBps.. the fool cant differentiate between kilobit and kilobyte, expecting to get 64kBps aka 512kbps for free doh.gif

i still doubt tho that they would bring back validity365 to #hotlink...
based on the new "free social messaging" they're still offering free whatsapp, wechat etc access for free.. means if they bring validity365 back, people would get a whole year of free whatsapp access for just rm66, rm33 fee+rm30 reload in six months. using whatsapp would bring less income as people not using traditional sms anymore, not to mention later whatsapp will introduce voice call...
currently people need to reload rm1/1day to stay active to use it, means for a whole year need to reload rm365. rm365 is better than rm66 for their profit brows.gif

Just wondering what language is your EasyMenu? I called 122 and press 2 for English and now it is still half English half Malay for me sweat.gif
Yes I got the Validity90 and Validity365 option too, but when you choose one of them it will say not applicable to all #Hotlink plan, but I will try it out on 1st May smile.gif

haven't try earlier so i tested just now after rebooting phone once, yes its activated already.
btw i think "free basic internet" is still applicable. probably maxis just renamed it to "free social messaging" to lower users expectations. many idiots expects to get free unlimited, uncapped speed to stream youtube 24/7 so they changed its name. i tested with browser and facebook, opens and loads pages just fine.

btw i think "free basic internet" is still applicable. probably maxis just renamed it to "free social messaging" to lower users expectations. many idiots expects to get free unlimited, uncapped speed to stream youtube 24/7 so they changed its name. i tested with browser and facebook, opens and loads pages just fine.

sorry can't take screenshot, using it on nokia dualsim dumbphone, and thats my only phone currently wub.gif
but the code gave me some sort of "empty" easymenu, on top got few line of empty space and at bottom only got two option, 0 Back and 00 Main menu.

afaik the free internet is suppose to automatically activate after two hours of simcard activation, no need to sms anything. if still not activated even after two hours then just reboot phone.

#Hotlink would be a better choice cause of the free basic internet. The call rate is 24sen/min and SMSes are 7sen to all networks - its cheaper with this plan if you call and text a variety of numbers (can also use the Activ 10 as mentioned in the above post)

Besides...... #Hotlink has been the recent hit in town, hasn't it rclxm9.gif

Anyway its easy if you wanna change to #hotlink, just dial *108*25# from your phone wink.gif

If credit balance more than RM10, New Hotlink Plan have these rates

Calls/SMS to Maxis/Hotlink 20sen/5sen

Calls/SMS to Other Networks 30sen/10sen

we get Activ10 rates too, and can subscribe Validity 90/365

If credit balance below RM10, the on/off net call rates are 24/36 sen (sms rates same as above)

grace period is 90 days, compared with 50 days for #hotlink

can't change back if you have changed to #hotlink.
if you really want to change, before you change, purchase validity365 first, then only change to #hotlink.
so for the next 1 year you can use the basic internet for free without the need to top up.

Just read it and checked at hotlink web :

QUOTE
Do I still retain all my existing Hotlink benefits after migration to #Hotlink?

All Hotlink benefits will be retained, except for purchases of Validity 90, Validity 365.

yes, which is why before convert to #hotlink, purchase for validity365 for the final time and then only convert.
for the next 1 year no need to top up and can use free basic internet.
but the 2nd year will need to top up and that time no more validity365 available.

I thought the FAQ meant : The benefit of validity90 and validity365 will not passed on to #hotlink. e.g.: The valid period "reset" to 5 days. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

The last time I changed my Hotlink plan, that's what happened. My validity was reset to 30 days from switching date, which actually extended my validity. 30 days was the initial validity for new activations under New Hotlink Plan. These days Maxis not so generous.

I didn't regret changing to #Hotlink when this came out with 365 +100 days validity.
The 64kbps speed is useable with Opera Browser for normal surfing.

Support the Campaign above... so I can convert back to Hotlink365 after the 465 days of free basic internet...lol tongue.gif

Apparently reload via MaxisPay(include via *100*4*6#) would bug the FOC Internet. You'll be topup but won't able to surf with only exception Hotlink RED and Hotlink website.

Note* : Only happen when you're reloading when you're inactive.

The incoming data stopped. Have to reactivate manually on Maxis side. It's like you get banned for not active. And unable to unban.

Reloading via CIMBclicks or Kwik should working fine

No, haven't fully explain it. But for now, it's better to avoid reloading via MaxisPay. unless you're looking for the reloading amount, not the 64kbps.

anyone success in getting free movie passes using Red Apps before?

I manage to claim and receive the barcode. But how do I redeem the ticket?

Do I need to present the barcode at TGV counter?

Hi, have you successfully claimed your ticket? I got some question need to ask too

Is this from real Hotlink team or fake. I already got my bar code for tickets but I am not sure I can use bar code directly or need to claim physical ticket for the movie rclxub.gif

guys, after reading few last pages about the discussion that validity365 not available for new hotlink plan, i need confirmation about this.
i have a hotlink number( not newly purchased, so i guess it supposed still in old plan), can i purchase the validity 365 first, only after that migrate to new hotlink plan, to get free whatsapp?
yeah, my only intention is to have free basic internet (whatsapp) with very low commitment, as already have postpaid number for voice call and sms.
my other choice is xpax; get the long validity (1 year/2 year), and reload for mobile data (rm 10 for 150mb), as what i understand its data can be used as long as line active.

guys, please advise... thanks in advance smile.gif

No you can't, if not mistaken the validity will reset to 1 month after you switch your old Hotlink plan to #Hotlink, so subscribing to validity365 before switch is useless sweat.gif

yes, you can purchase the validity365 first and then migrate to new #hotlink plan. you will have your validity extended for one year in your new #hotlink plan. and yes, free internet for the next one year... i just converted that earlier.

can't change back if you have changed to #hotlink.
if you really want to change, before you change, purchase validity365 first, then only change to #hotlink.
so for the next 1 year you can use the basic internet for free without the need to top up.

QUOTE(victorywp @ Apr 30 2014, 04:59 PM)
yes, which is why before convert to #hotlink, purchase for validity365 for the final time and then only convert.
for the next 1 year no need to top up and can use free basic internet.
but the 2nd year will need to top up and that time no more validity365 available.

I just port to #Hotlink directly so I am not so sure, can I know when your converted your plan?

QUOTE(dgboy @ Apr 30 2014, 08:23 PM)
The last time I changed my Hotlink plan, that's what happened. My validity was reset to 30 days from switching date, which actually extended my validity. 30 days was the initial validity for new activations under New Hotlink Plan. These days Maxis not so generous.

i think hotlink will choose the longest validity for you with a minimum of 30 days when switching.

my situation:
- i reloaded rm30 in early april 2014 so my validity was extended to somewhere in may 2014
- i bought validity365 somewhere in mid or end april 2014
- the 365 days added to my validity from my new validity period in may 2014, instead of from the date i bought validity365 in april
- i switched to the new #hotlink plan and the 30+365 validity period follow (my new validity = may 2015)

dgboy situation:
- his validity was less than 30 days when he switched to another hotlink plan
- his validity reset to 30 days because that's the minimum validity given to a user after switching
- assume that his validity period is 36 days before he switched, the 36 days validity period will follow instead of being reset to 30 days

anyone having trouble to claim anything from live life loud after updating red app?

my problem would be whenever a push notification come out and I press it, it will either:
1. The apps take a longer time to load and most likely error come out afterward or
2. when I manage to hit claim and answer the right question within a short time period, it will always show me that all prize has been claimed... vmad.gif
last time when I won TGV ticket, no matter how long I take to answer the question, for sure I will win the prize if I answer the correct answer.

The app is getting more users now, I think should be the traffic issue, maxis needs to upgrade server capacity to handle more users when they push the notification.

Refer to hotlink website, only plan listed entitled to subscribe 365

Is #Hotlink eligible for Validity 365?

No, #Hotlink is not eligible for Validity 365. It is only available for the plans below:

Extra Plan
Basic Plan
Hotlink Plan 3.0
Hotlink Plan 3.0 Sabah/Sarawak Plan
Hotlink Plan 3.0 Kelantan/Terengganu Plan
Social Edition Plan

But it seems hotlink no offer these plan any more as reply from maxis forum below.

As our current Hotlink offering is the #Hotlink plan, all expired Hotlink plans have since been removed from our website. However, for your perusal, the rates for the expired Hotlink 3.0 Plan:

share-a-topup is from user to user not reload directly from maxispay because maxispay doesn't have that feature/function.

Maxis validity 365 only valid for old user ? i recently call the maxis center to ask for validity 365 on new number, they said its not avail for new hotlink free internet plan. Is there any way/trick to get a year validity with free internet ? probably buy the old number to get that validity period ? or any other telco that provide a year validity and free internet

currently searching for a year validity + free internet for my gps tracker .. i didn't want to top up every month for validity purpose because i didn't use much credit for gps tracker which already feeds its data trough out internet lines, any suggestion guys ?

all the new prepaid is #hotlink plan which has no validity 365 anymore. you probably need to find other telco that offer you that.

yeah, i have been using this 4g/lte service very long time already at rm3 from 12am-7am. now they increased to rm5 and from 1am-7am only.

tips: actually you can use it for 2 days. 1st day, activate at 4am and use til 7am. 2nd day can use from 12am-4am. i have been doing that all the while. but now with the changes, you may activate it at 3am and use til 7am. then 2nd day from 1am-3am.

Means if your validity is more than 30 days (for example 1st of November 2015), when you change your plan to #Hotlink your validity will become 8th October 2015 (maximum 30 days validity after conversion to #Hotlink)

Please take note that #Hotlink cannot sign up for Validity90 and Validity365 (365 days validity no need topup), and there is no u turn after u change yr plan to #Hotlink

Be aware that basic internet is reduced to 500mb/month

Some user had mentioned that they are unable to use internet after that

Used to be 3gb

With the Hotlink RED App installed, it'll be easier to do many things that you'll normally do through the *....# code/s.

With the Hotlink RED App, top-up instantly, check your balance anytime,
load up your mobile data, get access to the hottest events and more!

After #Hotlink, the other telcos have also come up with free Internet over the last few months, Celcom Magic SIM, Digi Smart Prepaid, and then U Mobile Power Prepaid. Guess Maxis had to make adjustments to remain competitive.

My suggestion is to check the respective telco's website for the latest information before changing plans.

OHHSOME my foot! Maxis hotlink never fails to disappoint customer. Previously everything is ok until their recent change to 500MB X 6 policy.
And the BEST of the BEST part is that they actually REMOVE the quota info from the RED apps, trying to hide something?

Hotlink plan is becoming too complicated for me. Normal reload vs hot ticket reload. have to key in so many things and keep track of free minutes (before expiry) and free data. So Susah. Not every vendor sell hot ticket

After #Hotlink, the other telcos have also come up with free Internet over the last few months, Celcom Magic SIM, Digi Smart Prepaid, and then U Mobile Power Prepaid. Guess Maxis had to make adjustments to remain competitive.

Reducing basic internet to 500mb/month is not actually competitive move

Being competitive in business doesn't have to mean only meeting your expectation, the free basic internet, in this case. There are other things involved that they would have adjusted as well, which others will only notice especially when those are exactly what impact them.

You might want to widen your view and see what other telcos have to offer, to understand what's going on. Then maybe from there decide if you'll be happier if you port to another telco.

Just a suggestion. smile.gif

Agree with ur points, however I still dun see the move from 3gb to 500mb consider a competitive move. And I wonder what would happen after the 6 X 500mb ended. hmm.gif

Was the "Free Basic Internet @64kbps" 3GB before? I've no idea about this as I don't use it.

The 6 x 500MB is (separate) "High-Speed Internet", a promotion:

https://www.hotlink.com.my/en/plans/free-internet.html - the link for more information.

Activate #Hotlink Starter Pack Now To Enjoy:
FREE RM5 Pre-loaded airtime
FREE 3GB High Speed Internet (500MB x 6 months)
FREE Social Chat
Always On Internet
10x faster internet on 4G LTE

So once 6 x 500MB ends, I guess you can either continue using the the basic Internet or subscribe to one of the mobile Internet packages.

Yes, the #hotlink free basic internet FUP was 3GB before 23rd July.

The current #hotlink promo only applies to new subscribers. The free 500MB is only valid for 7 days. Last year hotlink 6mths x 500mb promo gives 14days validity.

The longest free internet validity was from the recent DiGi Best bundle promo that gives 6mths x 200MB with 30days validity.

All big three telcos have now standardized their free basic quota to 500MB. Only U power free basic internet is (as of today) 2GB FUP.

As of today, the best is from U power (if you have good coverage) with free 1GB/30days High speed internet plus 2GB free basic internet.

Actually 500mb is enough for Imessage and whatsapp. Just don't download the video or the pictures.

Celcom so far has not blocked whatsapp call in their free basic Internet

Kinda confuse with "500MB for 7 days validity". Does it mean 500MB @full speed for 7 days or 500MB @64kbps for 7 days? What happen after the 7 days?

FREE 3GB High Speed Internet (500MB x 6 months) is a promotion (Promo period: 10 July 2015 – 30 September 2015) for newly-activated #Hotlink accounts, a separate thing from the Free Basic Internet @64kbps (aka Always On Internet on their website) that's been around for quite a while.

https://www.hotlink.com.my/en/plans/free-internet.html - for more information

*FREE 500MB pass is valid for 7 days. So life goes on after the 7 days, until the next month when you qualify again. If you want to use data in the meantime, you can either revert back to using the basic internet or subscribe to a mobile internet package to surf at high speed.

Thank you for answering my question patiently notworthy.gif
As I convert to #hotlink plan last year, means that i'm not entitled to this 500MB high speed right? But what happen to my existing Free Basic Internet @64kbps?
I think hotlink capped it to 500MB from the previous 3GB.

From what I can see, the promotion seems to be only for newly-registered #Hotlink accounts. You might want to contact Maxis to confirm on this.

I don't think there's any changes to the qualification for the Free Basic Internet except for the 500MB cap. This, I believe, is the selling point of the #Hotlink plan, so it should be there so long as you qualify to use it. If you somehow can't access/use, maybe check with Maxis?

Free Basic Internet allows other uses than just social chat/apps. But at 64 kbps, I'd say it depends on the games you want to play.
