i think the CM Storm Mech's built should be good. it's alu case and possibly their top tier mkb model.
i've never open up to see the pcb of the cm storm mech or any cm storm's mkb to be honest...so i'm not commenting on that! biggrin.gif

also i didn't go research on really how good is a thick pcb or dual layer pcb is. less chance of pcb failure? components failure isn't because of pcb right? and since almost all keyboard is using a plate to support, how does a thick pcb contributes to it? maybe some expert can help answer that, i myself also not very sure about what i've mentioned tongue.gif

btw, the DAS keyboard's pcb looks really simple and it can be flexed easily.

I wanna ask about Corsair K70 mkb..
Is it any good?
What kb should I consider for this price range? If can, tell me why.. hehe smile.gif
*
thought we had this explained to you already last night? tongue.gif not convincing enough? what was your interest in the k70?

QUOTE(unequalteck @ Nov 25 2013, 09:14 AM)
Yes, before I had a chance to touch the cm storm mech, I thought it just another so so quality mech KB as cm always do. But after done some typing it impressed me
Transfer rate of what? Signal? If so then I don't think I can feel the difference as I'm currently still a ducky user. Is it something like 60hz and 120hz in monitor? Which most of the user can't feel the difference.

Summoning all expert here to clarify
*
it's using alu case, definitely can feel the difference from plastic case. if you can try a custom keyboard that's using alu case.... laugh.gif
but why generally most of the mkb user here avoid gaming keyboard because they have non-standard layout size, usually on the CTRL ALT SPACEBAR row.
that makes changing a full keycap set difficult.

and i just had a thought, it seems like most gaming keyboards uses almost the same layout.
i've seen 1.5x ctrl, 1x winkey, 1.25x/1.5x alt, spacebar, i'm not too sure liao...6x? 6.5x?

You still here? Actually i hope someone else will read this.. haha..
yes man, still not decide yet.. biggrin.gif what i really like is the design, really cool to me..
I guess red switch will be just fine for me, although it will be use generally for typing purpose only.. hehe. But still, I wanna look for something with the same price range
with this kb. For the design wise, i guess this is the best.. smile.gif
*
i addicted to this thread liao >.<
have u personally tried the different switches? because i enjoy typing and gaming (more typing now since i can't game at work) and before getting my first mkb, i thought i would love brown switch. but after i tried my hands on both brown and blue switch, i fell in love with blue switch. it's so clicky and satisfying with each keystroke tongue.gif but the enjoyment is not for the people around u.

if the design is what you are looking for, then go ahead. there's at least one more user here who uses a k70 and one of my friend is using a k95, both of them like their keyboard's design.
for the k70, the special WASD12345 keys are fortunately, available to purchase in taobao smile.gif

but if you are into keycaps changing, do note that when u buy aftermarket keycaps set, u'll have a hard time getting a desirable result at the CTRL ALT SPACEBAR row as it's of different size. it's not totally impossible to change them, just that you have to be more creative and spend a little more money on it smile.gif

and yes, most of us are into keycaps changing. i know of one particular user here who regret and is in so much sadness that his keyboard is not standard layout and couldn't change all the keycaps. tongue.gif

Yes I knew about this. Did a bit research before I bought my shine 9008. If it is the matter of nonstandard layout, then they shouldn't compare and claim ducky makes the best mech kb cuz its not about quality. Is about aesthetic, standard layout can change keycap easily, not quality
*
while i don't subscribe to the idea that ducky is the best mkb around, i can't say much about the quality difference in ducky's and cm storm's mech as i didn't touch cmstorm mech before.
perhaps it's the culture here that gaming brand keyboard is subpar compared to other standard layout keyboard due to it being more difficult to change into the desired keycaps as majority here wants to be able to change keycaps without much restriction unless it's coming from the wallet or keycaps design.
the ducky is considered one of the top because it's built quality is rigid and robust compared to the other standard layout boards...filco is hardly mentioned because it's always...not available in malaysia and it doesn't have full led functionality despite previously being hailed as the top quality mech kb king.

what's important is the user's feel when typing on the keyboard.

food for thought, if keycaps maker starts making universal keycap sets, will gaming mkb kena bashed so terukly over here? tongue.gif

Dont u guys see K70 is only mounted to an alu plate but there is no casing on it ?

The alu plate other brand also using.
It not alu plate then should be metal.

So what's the emphasis on alu "case"
which is essentially the plate.  laugh.gif
Semua kena tipu.

i think i wasn't referring to k70 when i was talking about the alu case...haha! i was referring to cmstorm mech which was alu case.

Not u bro haha is they who think that cm storm is bad I wish they can explain more on quality before I go to the wrong side.

Btw, filco is available locally. Inter-asia is the distro of filco
*
yes, he is the distro, but when u check with him, u get the dreaded Out Of Stock and he tells u new stock is coming soon...since few months ago.

cmstorm quickfire rapid receives a lot of love though although now it's out of production...haha!

Yup. And I edit edit abit the white-ness  whistling.gif

I don't have any cherry profile to compare with. It is shorter.
*
then i suppose it's cherry profile. so sorry...although i was looking for novelty keycaps for my ducky's 4 top right corner buttons, i don't have any cherry profile keycaps set.

speaking of which, imsto classic keycaps is already in penang and should be shipping to my house already! rclxm9.gif

*
this is what we called the sticker mod.
the sticker is placed in between the switch housing to provide better stability on the switch.
also it gives a little decorative effect...haha!

to see the sticker better, u can buy transparent switch housing from taobao...
do you regret asking? brows.gif laugh.gif

usually people do sticker and fully tune switches all together.
less the repeating soldering hassles.

unless using plates that allows switch opening without desoldering!

but the nowadays plate gb getting less.
sprit plate is not gonna like that.
*
yeah...but nevermind lah...i'll be building it from scratch. so there's no need to desolder it in the first place...can straight swap spring and stickered before soldering it in biggrin.gif
