QUOTE(Human10 @ Dec 2 2013, 10:40 PM) Actually, qwerty is indeed more limiting and tiring compared to others, the work loads are more concentrated on the left hand. Agreed. Try typing 'the' on qwerty and dvorak for 100 times then the difference is clear. My dvorak speed is only 70% than my QWERTY. Hope I can catch up soon enough By the way, try typing on Dvorak for an hour then QWERTY, you would be amazed on the wonders of the muscle memory! Although there will be some moments of mixing up the keys |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Dec 2 2013, 11:38 PM) 'the' is located on the home row in the dvorak, there is no fingers movement to another position. I'm using the standard version. Well preventing CTS is one of the reason. It also serves as a great encryption tool Btw, what dvorak layout you are using? Dvorak Right ? left? programmer? variant (own design)? Normally, people change to dvorak sure has a reason. |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Dec 3 2013, 12:14 AM) Standard mean is English Dvorak right. Yep the English Dvorak layout. I think old guy like us will need care our health. CTS always the reason to change layout. You should change ur caplock to backspace for better typing experience because default backspace is very far to reach. Do you find any dvorak layout keycaps? I've recently ordered a set of unprinted thick PBT keycaps from IMSTO via Taobao. Sadly the items is still yet to arrive. It would be a rare breed to find printed caps for Dvorak considering most of these keycaps varies in heights. |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Dec 3 2013, 11:04 AM) Blank key caps are nice Great to know that we are typing in the same layout. Cheers for that! Back to the topic, I do believe that any PBT can prevent the shiny surface after months of abuse. The only reason I went for thick PBT is for its surface feel which is supposedly much more superior than non-thick variant. With this being said, it does cost almost twice as much than the non-thick PBT. Sad that the items is still yet to arrive, otherwise I could have posted some pictures here already. For dvorak user, we are heavily use of the home row, then top row. After long time use, may need to swap out certain keys for replacement. I bought normal pbt blank 108keys set + 37 keys set(for future swap). It's rather confusing for dvorak layout user having the qwerty keys on keyboard. Is the thick pbt can last longer for the surface to shine? P/S: I don't like the feel of ABS from the moment I touch them. It felt so, well, plastic. |

Great to hear that you are ordering a set of PBT just as I do. Funny that we are both still waiting for it en route. Lets cross our finger and see whoever ones arrived first. I believed you are purchasing them from Taobao?
Well I'm not a clerk so typing for the whole day is never a case for me. However, I do type often for research paper, note taking and online articles. I'm really aiming to reach that 150 WPM average speed on Dvorak though XD. Still 50% more to go. |

Finally received my unprinted Thick PBT from IMSTO today! For statistics, I ordered and cleared the payment on last Friday and receive it today. Only took around 5 days to arrive. Initially I thought it would only take 3 days tops though seeing how close I am now with China. Anyways, I'm just glad to receive it finally! No complaint here.
Removing the keycaps, including the ones with stabilizer bar was really easy and not as difficult as I once thought, thanks to the Ripster guide that I followed here. In fact, it only took me ~15 minutes to fully remove all the keycaps. Putting them back is again, easy as pie! Several things that I note: - The texture is really something compared to ABS. The extra premium spent on this one is really worth it. You would have to touch and feel it to know. - Apparently the keycaps that I purchased has a slightly lower height than the Filco. For example, the height for the QWERTY... in my ordered keycaps is having the same height as the 'ZXCV...' from Filco. Still, I really appreciate and like the lowered height as surprisingly, I feel more comfortable typing on it! - Dark grey and black looks just perfect! - BLANK IS SEXY Here are some pictures taken throughout the whole process. Warning: Hefty load of pictures » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Dec 4 2013, 11:03 PM) Nice Yea it's hard to find someone with the same passion. Despite what my profile picture might suggest, I'm not really that old though. Hint: I first interact with PC is the MS-DOS days. I'm wondering why we both like blanks and drovak users. Serious question here. Are we same age group? How old are you? |

QUOTE(diaBoliQu3 @ Dec 4 2013, 11:44 PM) How you shift to dvorak? Start from keyboard or what? I don't think it's easy for me unless there's dvorak keyboard infront of me. I'd have to admit that switching from the comfort zone is painfully tough. I still remember having to 'recite' the keys mentally in my mind 24/7 LOL! Eating, bathing, and even before I went to sleep! I had even came to the point of mentally typing it when I'm walking Not yet memorize but already used too. I guess a qwerty forever. |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Dec 4 2013, 11:56 PM) Ah then I would say we still have some age gap here. But passion and interest knows no bound right Heh I'm really poisoned with the new kep cap. The lowered heights really make me typing more comfortably than before seeing my home table level is just few inches away from my heart area. |

QUOTE(toomanyrulez @ Dec 4 2013, 11:41 PM) Now practicing my touch typing method.. I believe it's QWERTY.type typing right? I would say it will take you months to reach that provided you consistently type it. Start slow and try to be accurate instead of typing blindingly fast. Trust me, a spelling mistake hurts the WPM much more than when you type slow. Psychologically, whenever I made a mistake, I tend to become nervous and it affects my ability to type the next words accurately.still quite slow though really wanna achieve 100wpm.. donno when possible.. |
