Hye guys, just wanna find out how many of you guys applied a screen protector on ur DS/DSL. Do you think it is neccessary? What brand do you use/recommend? Will it affect your gameplay (touch screen, 'silau', etc)?

Thanks in advance thumbup.gif

Yes it is necessary depending on what games you play.

Ouendan is a good example of why you need a screen prot. (+ a better stylus)

Yup. for my DSL.

Get a Hori. U'll be satisfied.

Too much scribbling when answering tough questions in Brain Age can scratch ur touch screen. tongue.gif

what's this screen protector you people speak of? some kind of superhero? tongue.gif

i never bothered with any, and i *gasp* left the ds in the hands of my younger siblings for a couple of months. needless to say my ds looks very very "seasoned", both inside and outside.

can't say it affects my gameplay at all, though

i dont use screen protector. if u apply too much persure on ur touch screen, u still get scratch even with screen protector. NDS is a flip unit. so im not so worry about it. but PSP i think is a must.

believe me, a screen protector is a must.

saying such things as DS/DSL is flip-unit and you shouldnt worry about it is rather funny.

Playing with/without the paranoia feeling is a HUGE difference. /swt

Can we close this thread already?

It's quite obviously you need a screen protector.

Just check out Joystiqs/4cr's DS lite guide, and they say it's essential.

Playing games that require continuous tapping really contribute a high chance of getting your DS scratched and scarred. And playing MPH without a screen protector is almost like asking your DS touch screen to be mutilated. Just get those Hori Dual Screen protector, nuff said.

SCREEN-PROTECTORS.

They just PROTECT the screen from being scratched. No harm in adding another layer of protection right?

Unlike your DS which only costs RM50 now.

it may be worth $50, but it certainly didn't cost $50. don't mix those two up. either way numbers are pointless when there's no intent to sell it.

and sorry for not spending extra money to protect myself from something so harmless.

I don't use screen protector for my phat DS and now my screen is covered with a couple scratches and a big spot where the surface is cloudy (worn out) due to thumb strap usage (for MPH) . I can slightly see the worn surface when I playing even with the backlights on.

Djinn, I interested on the Hori screen protector (ori, of course). PM sent.

im agree with Quote~ thumbup.gif
but if some one can spare me a free nori i will try it out too drool.gif keke
just dont feel like spending axtra money that i know how to hander.
i was playing MHP too. just need to clean it with a class cloth after playing.

after all. i have install 100s of touch screen panel to my customers in industrial enviroment, touching with the fingure. got no any complane about scratches. If only some ppl press it to hard with the fingure nail or the fingure got sand there will be a scratches too.

so, if u think u press too hard or u malas to clean the screen. YES buy a nori.
*(still will get scratches if press too hard)
for me, i clean my screen and pen tip after playing. maybe this is why i always loss in MHP. rclxub.gif

Ofcourse screen protectors are a must. Unless you don't play Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents. I've made some scratches (damn you spinners!) on the hori protector on my touchscreen already, after almost of month worth of playing Ouendan.

nevermind just found out the answer to this when i decided to reward my DSphat with a screen protector after eight months of abusing, oops i mean using the touch screen without a protector.

i ordered the HORI liquid crystal filter from PA because i had a few touch-screen games i have been waiting to play (ouendan, feel the magic, rub rabbits)
i resisted the idea of using a filter but after the damage done by playing trauma center without a filter, i knew my touch screen won't last for very much longer without one. cry.gif

the one i ordered was the DSLite version which PA didn't have any HORI for the DSphat at the moment. the touch screen filter fits almost perfectly but the top screen one was slighty smaller. no matter, it's the touch screen that really needs protection since the DS is a flip-unit. thumbup.gif

applying it was a little tricky but i think i can live with the few air bubbles here and there. tongue.gif
then came the part to testing the sensitivity of the touch screen with the protector layer on top, i decided to test it out on trauma center since i still have some surgical skills left in me.... icon_rolleyes.gif

holy crap...sliding the stylus across the screen just isn't as smooth as it used to be!
vmad.gif vmad.gif it had a horrible rubbery feel when you try to slide the stylus across the screen where else when you do it without a filter, it feels like ice-skating.

those who played trauma center and had to suture a wound would know what it means to slide the stylus on the screen. maybe some or most of you had a screen protector applied onto your DS right from the day you purchased it...but for me, having used the touch screen for eight months without a filter takes a lot of getting used to.
now i know why some ppl prefer NOT to wear rubber....maybe not. laugh.gif

congratulations! you bought a pirated protective sheet lol (or you applied the topscreen protection sheet to the touchscreen)

I can slide my stylus all around the touchscreen smoothly as if there's nothing on it. btw, does the sheet comes with yellow stickers on the middle of them?

i think not, smarty pants...i ordered the HORI from PA and i don't think they deal with knock-off goods. and i'm certain i peel off the right layer because the top layer had a peel me label on it while the bottom layer is not adhesive.

i think you have never used the touch screen without a protective layer on it so your perpective of "smoothness" and mine is a little different, too bad....

Both layers aren't adhesive, IIRC.

I did. Might be my hand being not too sensitive to minor roughness when sliding the stylus then. :/

Yah, both side dun have adhesive, the protector depends on static to cling to the screen.

i tried to run the stylus on the protector for the top screen of my DS and it doesn't have the same rubbery feel as the protector on the touch screen (ie. one feels smooth while the other feels rubbery)

did i stick the right protector on the right screen? all i know is the top screen protector could not have fit onto the touch screen cos it was slighty bigger....hmmm, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to use a DSLite protector on a DSphat. rclxub.gif

i tried to run the stylus on the protector for the top screen of my DS and it doesn't have the same rubbery feel as the protector on the touch screen (ie. one feels smooth while the other feels rubbery)

did i stick the right protector on the right screen? all i know is the top screen protector could not have fit onto the touch screen cos it was slighty bigger....hmmm, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to use a DSLite protector on a DSphat.  rclxub.gif

no its not wrong, rubbery mean the sensitive layer is on the top, which reduce the scratch on the screen unless u rub the screen with stylus very hard. top screen's screen protector is just a normal piece of plastic biggrin.gif
