Dota2 Spike, any idea how to fix

i keep getting 1k pings (normal is ~250) and in the console it will show it is getting some update how to fix this bug? i tried the solution here but still get same issue http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=84120&page=66  Attached thumbnail(s)
