Here's sum pix of it b4 I start working on it. Overall pic of the rig. ![]() View of the side panel with the vents n fanhole. ![]() Very messy internals. ![]() No rear exhaust fans. ![]() No front intake fan either. ![]() |

Here's the plan for it.
1. Rear exhaust fan. UV Green fan. 2. Side panel will be cut around the vents. The round vent thingy will b maintained in the middle. Blue LED intake fan in the middle of the window. 3. Cut a 120mm fanhole at the front for air intake. Blue LED 120mm fan. 4. Install Green CCFLs. 5. Stealth Wiring for another wireless rig look. Will update as I go along. |

this casing have the same internal design as my casing. i'm going to see how you're going to cut up some space for the front 120mm fan. been thinking to do the same for my casing but dont have a good idea how to do it.

OK. Updates! Didn't do much today. Still feeling really bad from the food poisoning. I was getting restless after sleeping the whole day though, so I got my butt off the bed. Felt that I was capable of doing sum minor work like rough cuts n sum cleaning up work. So here we go to the updates. Pardon my lack of story telling skills 2day, still a bit mabuk from being sick all day.
Here's the stuff I bought for the rig. ![]() Now it's time for sum masking up n measuring. ![]() Time to cut. Phew, this is gonna b really tough. That circle in the middle is gonna b a tough nut to get right. That circle vent in the middle isn't even centred! The factory stamping machine wasn't calibrated correctly I guess. So It's gonna be really difficult to get right coz it isn't centred in the 1st place. So I'll hafta do my best to make it look as centred as possible after cutting. ![]() Done! Rough cut is complete. Now it's down to the detailed work to get it really nice n round. That'll be done 2moro. ![]() Sumore cutting on the chassis itself. Hollowed out the rear fan grill for maximum airflow efficiency on the exhaust fan. Still needs detailed work. All I had time to do 2day was rough cuts. The 1st thing to do 2moro is the front intake hole, then it's down to the detailing work to make everything perfect. ![]() |

Here's what I did after it got dark. Can't do any cutting after 7pm unless I wanna start a war with my neighbours.
Here's a look at the mobo b4 cleaning up. Look at the area at the Northbridge heatsink! Dust dust dust. A whole lotta dust. ![]() Now to the part where I clean the CPU heatsink. Look at all that dust that accumulates without u knowing coz u dont really c it till u take off the fan. Can u imagine the peak load temps with dust like that! Must be pretty high n the worst thing is, when it's clogged up, it gets hot, then the fans gonna spin at max speed all the time which leads to more noise. More noise+hot temps= B.A.D ![]() Here's a look at the VGA now. The fan is dead coz too much dust in there. The bearings were totally clogged up with grit n wudnt even move. Also, notice the broken blade? Not good. I'll hafta whip up a 40mm fan to replace the dead fan. ![]() Dust dust dust! ![]() After cleaning out the VGA. ![]() Now here's after all that cleaning up with a bristle brush on the heatsinks n fans n sum compressed air on the sensitive bits. CPU HSF b4 cleaning. ![]() CPU HSF after mucho cleaning. ![]() Northbridge b4 cleaning. ![]() Northbridge after cleaning. ![]() After cleaning out the VGA. ![]() Well that's all 4 2day folks. Hopefully 2moro will b a more productive day when I feel a lot better. |

QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 22 2006, 01:45 AM) ![]() This sight looks awfully fimiliar.... Cleaned out a BILLION of cases like this. Updatesssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worked on it all day long n got the panels all done. Detailed work on the side window. Using the RTX for intermediate cuts. Final touch will be with the file. ![]() Next up was the acrylic. Cut a square piece for test fit. ![]() Then I turned it around to mark with a pencil. ![]() Cut cut cut! Started cutting the acrylic to fit the panel. ![]() Hole in the middle done. ![]() Now it's time to try it on the panel n hope it fits 1st time round without need for recutting. Lucky it was right 1st time around. No need for extra work. ![]() |

C the air intake at the bottom of the faceplate? Sooooooooo small n restrictive.
![]() I did sum dremelling to enlarge it. Here, it's much bigger now. ![]() Now it's on to the 120mm intake fanhole on the front. As u can see from this pic. The front intake was originally 2x80mm holes. ![]() I cut out the protruding fangrills on that n then cut the 120mm hole over the 2x80mm holes. This is a rough cut. Detailed work not done yet. I still need to grind away those nubs from the fan grill n also the rough edges from the cutting. This fanhole required extreme concentration n precision. Look how close I had to cut the top n bottom of the hole. C that tiny lil bit at the 12 n 6 o'clock positions. ![]() This is after filing n grinding of the edges. Mounted an old fan for test fit. Fits like a glove. ![]() |

More updates!!!!!!!! Hehe. Just cudn wait to get the rig up n running. Wanted to see the internals all blinged up. Here's a sneak peek for now. I haven't installed the side panels yet coz they're not finished.
Here's sum bling bling for the gfx card, a nice blue LED fan. ![]() This is how the gfx card looks like in the dark now. ![]() This is the internal shot with just the LED fans running. ![]() Here's the Super Bling Old Horsey all dressed up n ready for a night out. 1 more thing, haf u guys noticed the HDD is "wireless". I tell u, this rig wasn't easy to implement my Stealth Wiring. The PSU had sum of the shortest wires I've ever had to work with n it was really, really difficult to work with. ![]() Well, this is definitely the last update for the day. The window panel will b going in 2moro. But wait that's not it yet! There's more comig after the side window is installed. What is it? Well, u'll just hafta keep checking back to unravel the mystery. Muahahahaha. Just to show u guys who just started reading this worklog, this is how the rig looked like before I blinged it up. ![]() This post has been edited by ianho: Jun 23 2006, 04:00 AM |

QUOTE(Shah81 @ Jun 23 2006, 03:55 PM) @ianho U'll b surprised how much air gets in tru the 2 square holes down there. It's more than enuf. Anyway I didn't wanna cut up the front panel coz it's gonna disturb my plans for it. Hehehe. It's gonna b pretty cool.is it sufficient for the fan to suck air from the 2 small holes at the bottom of the front cover. i thought you're going to dremel a nice big hole for the front fan intake. something like this maybe |

Total lights out shot. Only the LED fans on. ![]() This is with the CCFLs on. ![]() With room lights on to show how the exterior looks like now. ![]() Remember this? This is how it looked like b4 the side panel mods. Big huge difference eh? ![]() Well, now it's on to 2 more things which I'm modding right now. For that u'll hafta check back later. I used the 6 pcs of acrylic for this. ![]() It's a ROM window!!!!! Done. Now it can be pushed in to the ROM cage. This bottom piece covers the metal base of the cage to make it nicer. There's also a gap between the cage n the plastic faceplate. Now it's nice smooth platform inside. ![]() The front acrylic window has been put together but I forgot to take sum pix of it. I've just bonded it to the bottom piece so I'll just leave the thing to completely bond b4 I start moving it for pix again. Until then............................................ |

Here's the complete ROM cage window unit. All bonded n ready for installation.
![]() Here's a pic of why I had to make a base plate for it. C that gap at the front between the faceplate n the ROM cage? Things will fall into the gap n it doesn't look nice with a hole there too. ![]() N here she is.................... the Sexy Superstar of the show! The one n only Ms. Lara Croft Starring in Project Bling It On! ![]() ![]() All I haf left to do 2moro is to change the DVD drive faceplate to black. Drill the mounting holes for the ROM window n screw down the ROM window assembly into the ROM cage. Will update with the final pix 2moro with everything comlete n the rig running with lights n all. The other side of the panel is exposing too much of ur cable management tricks men ..... not sure u done it purposely or there is other meaning behind it ....
anyhow really like the cleaness and the lara as well...just a little suggestion why dont u make a background for her .....it would be nice to see her in action within ur case.... just suggestion only.....keep up men ...really like ur way of modding ... |

hhmmm.....i think it will be nicer if the lara croft is illuminated....coz the backlight is bright, but you can see the detail of her.
by giving it a second tone, then she can stand out. maybe you can try to use LEDs to lit up her front part a bit |
