I can share what my company vs its competitor rates for O&G offshore.
My company: not doing well right now: Per day offshore 90-140 USD for field engineers depending on grade
Subsea7: 300USD/day for every personnel (I need confirmation on this though).
On top of it, you get hardship allowance, etc etc bout like 20-30% of ur basic depending on ur company haha

QUOTE(rukaman @ Jul 17 2014, 03:47 PM) Job Title : Process Engineer Job Desciption : Maintain and monitor manufacturing process Years spent in company : 8 months Company : MNC Industry : Manufacturing Tenure : Permanent Employment Level : Executive Experience before joining : 3 years (1.5 yrs with MNC as Technician + 1.5 yrs with local company as QA Engineer) Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree Salary : RM3100 (before deduct EPF) + compulsory bonus 2 month every year What do you guys think? I believe can go higher.. Probably is because you joined as a technician and skillset of process engineer is still rather fresh at the time you join as a process engineer, thus getting a few hundred extra compared to a fresh process engineer

QUOTE(rukaman @ Jul 22 2014, 11:43 AM) Thanks guys. Am thinking to change field of work, but could not make up my mind for the time being. Working in manufacturing is kind a routine job But I hear if working in semiconductor industry long enough, you may not able to get other type of jobs like example ONG, Bank and etc. is it true? Changing industry altogether is a big difference bro. Changing to bank is like apple and orange, dont think any of your technical skillset as a process engineer can help much. Unless your doing stuffs involving lean process improvement, optimization, risks analyses, general quantitative skills which may help in their business. Change to OnG upstream is a 100% difference, theres almost no value you can add to it. On downstream production side, maybe some of your process control skills, safety knowledge helps, etc etc.. In general the job specialization will also change to chemical refining ald. Well, can also look for OnG vendor companies that might have relations to semiconductor which I no idea haha

QUOTE(algonjo_encem @ Jul 22 2014, 01:40 PM) Yup.. Totally agree!! BUT its not possible if you from process engineer, go to Bank. BECAUSE i did it and no problem. WHAT you need is SKILL, KNOWLEDGE and HOW you win the interviewer. Plus is you got additional certificate that related to improve process such as ITIL, Six Sigma, PMO. I have it and now in Deployment Management. Manage People and handling project. Yes, it all depends on individual and skillset. I have a friend, engineering degree. When he was an engineer he also took up six sigma course. Now a master black belt holder and work in OnG industry as process improvement consultant. With this qualification he basically can hop to different different industry, coz basically everything on earth runs from head to toe

QUOTE(BravoZeroTwo @ Aug 6 2014, 01:55 PM) Congrats ! Is the SGD100/day standard for everyone ? Thanks. According to HR, 100/day is standard across, which is the downside for the higher ranked employees. I dont know about management level but 100 is acceptable for a junior like me

QUOTE(tholib @ Sep 20 2014, 11:05 PM) Job Title : Mechanical/Structural/Pipeline Engineer Job Desciption : Oil and Gas Consultancy Years spent in company : 1 year Company : Local Industry : Oil n Gas Tenure : Permanent Employment Level : Junior Experience before joining : 0 Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree Salary: RM 1,600 plus medical benefit Somehow I'm quite depress with my current job. So depress coz almost everyday have to go back home 10pm (work on saturday and sometimes sunday too in order to complete work) , hold big responsibilities and boss expectation to deliver. No senior/lead engineer to refer to only one boss is the only lead. Overload ton of works yet have to be multidiscpline engineer. Still shitty pay I must say. Can anyone offer me a better job please they say dont be choosy when get first job. For ur case i assume u get rm1.5k when hired. Now 1 year your still inside getting 1.5k. When you hop for other company then ur bargaining power will be within 3k only.. in actual others with similar or even lesser experience may bargain for 4k lets say... you better move out from there
