I'm not sure whether my salary is within O&G salary range with 7 years experience. I was thinking to utilize my MBA to change industry to financial institution. Would it be worthwhile to change or should I stay within O&G industry & continue engineering job?

Of cause you can try take up a financial institute job. But certainly your previous engineering experience will be discounted as these are totally a different industry.

But never try, never know. Good luck

With 3 years of experience, are you a senior in the company? Are your responsibilities heavy? rm3.5k for 3 yrs seems fair for diploma, but yet if you are a senior i guess you should be demanding rm4.5k or higher instead.

what about 3 years with degree? does it make a difference? Some are seniors because they have seniority as in they worked longer, but same responsibilities as me.

The difference between degree and diploma really isn't much, but employers will usually grade degrees with additional 200-300rm on their fresh graduate salary.

If you have the same responsibility as your seniors, are you reporting to them? Same responsibility meant working on the same level. If they are classified as senior while you are not, just because you lack the number of years then the system is very much unfair. Then again, this is not uncommon but if you believe salary wise they also earn more than you while having the same responsibility, you should fight for a higher increment or a seniority level. Otherwise, wouldn't you feel detrimental staying in the same company so long under the people sharing the same responsibility.

If you cant fight the system, maybe you should consider to move on to another one.

I just joined functional team for 1 year + for SAP HCM Module. My salary range is around yours smile.gif. Around 70% increment from my previous job smile.gif

SAP Basis is the toughest job among all the 3 main jobs in SAP field: - SAP Basis, SAP Abaper and SAP Functional. SAP Basis not only deals with networks but also system architectures, designs, networking, security, installation, Operating Systems and more!

My friend was paid to study this and be certified. LOL. So he was practically hired to study for a whole year. It isn't easy to pass the test at all!

Basis is the toughest job? That's news to me. I admit the Basis guy for my project can be very busy sometimes, but his job is nowhere as tough as the functionals and project managers that deal with the business everyday. Although I bet he still gets paid well since he drives a sweet, white Mercedes S-Class.
