Hi everyone,

I didn't realise this forum is kinda a club page till now lol...was an owner of a 2nd hand forte since January this year smile.gif

Just would like to ask a question:
One of my headlight bulb has fused (H7), and am wondering which bulb to get...i called up 2 SC, one didn't know what bulb they use o.O, while the other told me there is a standard bulb for RM35, or a Osram Nightbreaker for RM110 (or RM150 i forgot) for a pair..

Which one should I get installed? No labour cost will be charged..

I've also noticed ppl selling philips x-treme vision for RM150 and osram nightbreakers for RM110..

Now the final question is...should i use philips or osram if i don't want the standard bulb? thanks haha

either one is fine, just don't use the auto headlamps often else within 2 mths confirmed kantoi.. was using HID earlier so didn't bother much and it works fine till today..removed it coz of the stupid ops this ops that to prevent headache for timebeing
*
haha thanks for the input...i never actually tried auto headlamps before so not sure how it works haha

in the end i went to kia sc to get it changed before the replies came since they have 10% off now for world cup promotion...not high end bulbs though but oh well peace of mind...will change myself next time though to save labour cost :/

It's basically for lazy people or people who always forget to switch on/off their headlights.  The sensor is the round button on top of ur dashboard,  when the light level of ur surrounding gets dark enough to meet the programmed sensor input,  it will trigger the headlamps to turn on by itself.  Works very well with HID but not so with halogen bulbs coz too sensitive adi the settings. Imagine pass by shady areas where there are trees,  it turns on,  after that off,  after that on again,  after that off.  Sure kantoi, hahaha anyways enjoy your ride.

thanks for the info..i see i saw this thing on the dashboard but didn't know it was the sensor lol

anyway, could i ask you a question as you may know the answer...
with all the illegal fancy plates on the street, i'm not sure if mine is as the previous owner had this installed at the back (the front is the normal plate since she broke it)...

do you think this is compatible? i can't find any decent information online or even on the jpj website as they only give the measurements..i went to jpj near my place and they told me to go to the wangsa maju branch to check instead sleep.gif" they don't even know themselves...

P/S: sorry i zoomed in to show the font clearer

i think ur fonts already spoke for itself..they said somehow the only legal ones are the 'mahjong' type of fonts...urs, i would deem they want to force you to pay also u can't say anything ...its always them who calls the shots...
*
alright thanks haha...
yeah wana get it changed asap cause i don't even know what font is this...
as far as I think Arial Bold is accepted but i don't know mine is...just confirmed it's not from your reply

now need to find for someone who sells it..not even sure if 3D ones are accepted although they do look kinda cool sweat.gif

thanks again smile.gif

you have 2 choices

1) just play dumb until u get flagged down then start acting innocent and promise you will take it off by telling them oh, i just bought over this car actually, i will get it changed immediately as i didn't know its illegal (your chances are 50/50  laugh.gif )

2) quickly go change to the ugly font types that you can see on most forte's otr.

they can find fault with you no matter what...as long as your tints are not super dark, or bodykits scream 'LOOK AT ME I'M SO HAWT' probably they will let you off the hook, but as far as your picture shows, its not the usual type of letterings used for sure  sweat.gif
*
hahaha i just read this...

my car isn't super hawt lol...the tints was removed when she sent to puspakom and i never intended to put up any till lately cz my face got burnt from driving long distance lol...but am waiting till they got a proper guideline with the tints..

in msia it's ridiculous cause there are so many different plate makers...i lived overseas for sometime and the plates are standard..even the personalised plates (the ones u get to combine, make yourselves) are all done by authorised people who know the actual guidelines...in msia anyone can make plates

i guess i'm ok with ugly fonts, afterall we don't have a choice haha..

thanks again for the input XD

aih in malaysia apa pun boleh, no standardization, flip flop policy at best. i know what you mean.. oh well, we live here so gotta abide by the so called rules...as long as your car doesn't stand out then its okay adi lah, else i think you have a CF roof or bonnet also they will kacau..  yawn.gif
*
true...lol yeap adjusting back to msian policy..they always can say what they want with their own rules and regulations

anyway to everyone:

i went to kia SC yesterday to change the bulb...they tested my battery too (since it's free with some promotion) but i didn't ask for it...
so happen right after that my car had problem starting...i brushed it off and drove away..

today it happened again..
thus i went back again to ask about it, also because my lamp wasn't placed properly...and they told me my batt has to be changed..

i guess i agree it has been so long and the previous owner probably hasn't change it since she bought it in 2011, but what are the chances of it failing right after they check it? sleep.gif"
good thing they don't have battery stock atm...i'll just change somewhere else probably cheaper haha

any ideas what may have caused this?

Before you get the battery changed, try checking on the terminal fasteners first.
Look/Test and determine if it has gotten loose (either maliciously by SC or by natural causes).
Have come across cases where SCs 'overlooked' to fasten those terminals properly.

Edit: Fyi, car batteries often reach their EoSL in about 1.5 to 2 years (depending on usage and quality of the product).
Recommended brands? I'd say Century, Yokohama, AC Delco. Personally, I've only used Yokohama, Bosch, and GP prior, and I give Yoko the thumbs up. The rest are purely based on hearsay from friends (petrol heads) and forums smile.gif

thanks for the info smile.gif
i checked the fasteners they're all tight..
am looking around for batt now..
model 55d23l i think (from the info here haha), price range around RM250 i think...

Wow! That's good to know.
Pls do share the price of the Yoko batt once u have them and also where they come from (i.e. - local Malaysian made or imported from somewhere else).

Also (as bad as this may sound like I'm trying to turn u into a lab rat) pls try and check to see if the Yoko batts fit onto the Forte's batt base plate/holder smile.gif
*
huh...oh so u didn't try yoko on forte?
lol sure will find out when i get the info from my aunt..
at the moment my batt is still surviving so hope it will last as long as after my aunt confirms with her neighbour
