a57 is good , especially the high ISO, and the CMOS is proven in NEX 5N, D7000, etc.

its so obvious the stupid dealer trying to hardsell their stocks....

A57, Metal Mount, 900k LCD, old iISO hotshoe, 8fps 16mp burst with AF
A58, Plastic Mount, 400K LCD(or was it 300k), new MISO hotshoe (which u get videolight on the new Miso Flash), low Fps (can recall) high FPS will crop the image more... booo...

the plastic mount and low LCD reso is enough to put me off.

SONY A58

the metal inside the camera is the one that holds a lens, not the outer mount... outer mount is for decoration only... it does not have any functions at all... outer mount does not hold your lens.. i use A58 and i always change my lenses...

i don't use lcd screen to take photos...looks like an amateur who use point n shoot if using lcd screen... i use the Electronic viewfinder.. look pro a little bit hehehehe.. EVF is so damn good --- good colors, good contrast, can view picture effect in real time, better handling backlight...

(High-Resolution, High-Contrast OLED Tru-Finder™ Framing, focusing and real-time preview of exposure adjustments are much easier with the OLED Tru-Finder™ electronic viewfinder. All thanks to the Translucent Mirror Technology™ that enables you to accurately monitor the results of your settings by faithfully displaying details exactly as they appear.)

hotshoe??? i always use wireless flash.. hehehe .. changing hotshoe type is not a problem to me...

Sony a58 replaces A57 and A37, so the features are in between A57 and A37...

A58 can focus so damn fast in low light at ISO3200 and produce less noise... i know... i have tried it... i use a58

it can take 5fps at 20MP... not fast enough for an entry level camera? especially the market price is lower than RM1800 at lowyat.

plus clear digital zoom at 20MP with less noise (kit lens 55mm x2 = 110mm zoom).. i don't use it as i don't like digital zoom...

it can lock a person' face, the face is always sharp even when the person moves to the next location or you change your framing.

finally, one NP-FM500H battery can take up to 700 photos per charge... I have tried it.. i took 450 photos daytime and i still had 55% remaining battery power. Can any nikon or canon entry level cameras do this?

I never regret buying A58... better than my current Sony A390... i still keep it as my backup...

just meet uncle chin from studio zaloon at plaza pudu to buy A58... the price is a lot cheaper than lowyat... i bought from him... but i will NEVER reveal the price even if you PM me...

different company have different market strategy. and i believe camera reseller will only sells camera to regular/special customer with special price. more or less price difference not too much, and dealer/reseller will never sell camera and equipment with below cost price unless critical situation

i wonder why he NEEDS to brag that he got special price then mention he will NEVER reveal the price even we PM him. sigh...

btw, all the features he mention is available on the A57.

the AF module on A58 is the same AF module from A57.
iso, the A58 did a little more over processing on the Noise Reduction, causing more smudges vs A57 (iso3200)

and the A57 advantage over the A58 is still better LCD. why is it better?, simple, when you review your photo and zoom in, you will learn how much details u gotten on the shot, compare to A58, u get headache as the image is halfway between sharp and blurred.

the plastic mount vs metal mount. simple, the outer metal mount re-inforces the inner mount. period.
i tried 70200G on the A58, soft swing and i hear a crack sound, return back to the shelf i took from....

bro, no need to wonder why. what consumer so call special price is special for them. for me, i don't really concern of price, i concern of quality and value. if the camera's quality not that good, even it quoted with cheapest price in the world i will never buy it

Amazing...Wow.. . you use expensive (heavy) 70200G lens with an entry level camera like A58? I only use cheap (light) lens with my A58..

If you 'can afford' to test 70200G lens, A58 is not for you. Perhaps, A77 or A99.
I never try G or CZ lenses at any Sony store because I know that I can't afford buying G or CZ lenses.

I agree with you that there are some features of A57 do available in A58, but Sony don't give all the features for them to reduce the price so that A58 is a lot cheaper than A57.

I don't need to review all photos that I take using the LCD or EVF. I'm very confident that my manual settings can produce photos that I want.

I agree with you, VincentLee. Studiozaloon offered me the price that I can afford. So, the price is so special TO ME, not to other customers. : rclxms.gif

If I can pay more, I would definitely choose A99... sad.gif sad.gif what to do.. no budget...

well, the moment he can sell the camera to u with "special price", eventually he can sell it to other customer, or even cheaper, because price is set by reseller after get stock from dealer

To me, there is no issue with the price as long as the seller and the buyer are happy. If unhappy, just go to the another shop. I was very happy at that time. Actually, I have checked the price at many shops before making my purchase.

well, i don't concern much about price. i more concern of value. if even the item price is very cheap but either the camera not worth of that price or the item bundled is below my standard, i not going to purchase
