Public Service Announcement: There's a new toy store chain opened in 1 Utama today called Hamleys. Their opening day promotion is "purchase a Transformer Beast Hunter Deluxe (RM59.90) and receive a free Beast Hunter Legion (RM24.90)."

^ seems more like a Public Disservice Announcement, but that depends on the state of your wallets tongue.gif
Hamleys huh, never heard of em before.. and you said chain? hmm.gif what else do they have there, aside from TFs?

It's an international toy store chain, very famous in London. But it's not a hobby shop lah, it's more like Toys R Us, but with an added selection of handmade traditional toys for kids.

They have another opening day promotion for baby toys, but I'm sure you won't be interested in that tongue.gif

if you have seen deluxes for RM12, voyagers for below 50... then yes, 87.90 is still high
some of us have only patience, while some have an abundance of cash that they can buy straightaway.. both sides seem to think the other one is ridiculous.. that's just how it works whistling.gif

Bro, waiting is no problem, but where do we go to find that kind of price? Even during sales I haven't noticed prices go that low... at least not in average places like TRU or department stores.

Complexity has it's pros and cons. Since Hasbro (unlike TakaraTomy) is aiming the Transformers franchise towards kids they have find ways to simplify the transformation process as to make them kid friendly. For example they made a lot of the movie toys transformation so complex that even parents are having a hard time transforming it. Another reason for them to try and simplify the transformation process may also be due to cost cutting measures as complexity in production come at a cost. They will save cost by combining the more simplify kids line of toys with the regular release of TFs. Hasbro may have made the decision based the poor sales of the recent TF toy line.

On the other hand this may result in the dwindling interest in the number of veteran collectors who appreciate more intricate designs and complex transformation as most of them will probably be turning towards 3rd party company since their products are catering more towards adult collectors.

To simply put it it's a double edge sword situation... make them too complex the parents will turn away... make it too simple the collectors turn away.

At the moment I have to say the CHUG series is currently one of best line of TF they have given us with not-so-overly-complex but still intuitive transformation design at very affordable price (Not to mention a lot of G1 character reference which I really appreciate smile.gif ). Why can't Habro make the other line ups with the same caliber as is beyond me rolleyes.gif . Just my 2 cents... nod.gif

I wonder what's the ratio of children to adult collectors. If it's something like 80/20, then from a business perspective, Hasbro would be happy to sacrifice the adults.

Generations Springer acquired at Tesco Curve for RM76.93 cool2.gif

And yeah, the shelf price was RM109... after scanning at price checker only do you see the discounted price. Thanks for the heads up orestes!

To anyone interested, there's one Springer left on the shelf, and around 4 or 5 Blitzwings (no surprise there)...

Q. What do TF collectors and rappers have in common?

A. Sometimes they will say they quit... then a few months later come back because a hot new mold 'forces' them out of retirement tongue.gif

I wonder how they got VW to agree to this one? Didn't they reject the TF franchise for years because of the association with war/violence?
