I have the LG HT904TA All in one Home Theatre System plugged in to my LG 50PS60 Plasma TV with a HDMI Cable. All has been working fine for just over 4 yrs now.

Recently, while watching a DVD with surround sound on, suddenly the sound from the speakers stopped. So I rebooted both the TV & Home Theatre & tried playing the DVD again. The sound came on briefly for 1-2 seconds & went silent again.

I tried playing a program on TV & the same result, sound comes on 1-2 seconds & then silence.

So I switched to the sound from TV in built Speakers & sound is fine. I can play TV programs & DVD with sound from the TV speakers without problem.

However, if I switch the sound to the Home Theatre I get sound only for 1-2 secs & then silence (this only if I reboot the Home Theatre first).. if not then silence throughout. The DVD player in the Home Theatre works fine.

I tried with a different HDMI cable, same result.

Any ideas from anyone?

Thus from your description, the problem occurs when trying to get the sound (directly) from your home theater system speakers. From those symptoms, it does sound like there is a failing internal power amplifier (that drives the speakers) on your home theater system...

Sound like the amp is kong...

If under warranty, send for warranty.
Else get a new system or just a real AVR.. Some low end outdated AVR can cost less than RM1k and sure better than the LG all in one.. IMO, no point fixing it.

Thanks Lex. Is the Internal Power Amp a part that I can replace? If so can you guide me on the part no? I saw only 2 major components when I opened up the HT. One is EAX61283401 & the other is EAY60568703. Is it one of these or a component on it?

Replacing the entire power amplifier boards can cost almost as much as buying another home theater system, plus high difficulty in acquiring the replacements as well. Usually its one or more components on the board that has failed. You could try sending it to a local electrical/electronic repair shop, and see if its possible to get it repaired.

Thanks. I will I will try getting the board repaired. If not probably buy a new Home Theatre.
