don worry of traffic time, it will become shorter in future..u know why?

because there are lots of MRT station along cheras and kajang, during that time MRT operate, many ppl will take MRT, the traffic will become smooth, so driving from semenyih to klcc will take you about 40-50 minutes only...

Err, sorry la, I think this is really wishful thinking. I live in Kajang, seldom take LRT as my workplace is not accessible by LRT. The traffic 5 years ago when I first moved in was very smooth as compared to Puchong or Kota Damansara where houses were around the same price. It takes me about 30 minutes to get to workplace in KL Sentral during peak hours. Now it takes about 50 minutes on a normal day. 1.5hours on a bad day
But these 2 weeks I need to go to CBD hence took Star LRT. To my surprise, it was less crowded than last year or few years back. Very strange right? And the ride is actually quite pleasant, aircond working fine, stations well maintained. I just could not understand why people prefer to be stuck in the jam instead of taking public transport. But I suspect it's a 'status' thingy cos most people in the train does not seem to hold high position cause they either look very young or very ah-soh (clerical position looking), I know this can be highly discriminating, but just stating my personal observation.

So yes, while MRT is aimed to make public transportation more accessible and more people should be able to use it so it eases the road congestions, if we factor in the growth in population + growth in number of cars on the road, I seriously suspect it won't ease the traffic. I'd be very happy if the traffic doesn't get worse by 2016/2017. And yes, I do intend to take public transport if I remain in the same office where there's a station stone throw away

Thanks. Do you mind to share which area of Kajang you are staying, normally which road you are using to KL sentral and typically where's the most jammed area?

Perhaps with such information we can get a better comparison to Semenyih. If using Lekas/Silk highway, Semenyih actually can reach Kajang around 10 - 15 minutes.

Thanks.

I live in Sg Chua, so I take first exit on Silk, Jln Wan Siew. 5 years ago hardly anyone uses Silk, but in recent years, it's congested as soon as you past the toll, and they introduced tidal flow towards Putrajaya, which helped slightly.

Then usually I'll take Besraya highway passing through Mines, MidFields etc and cut into Jalan Istana. But these days it's also quite busy because there's only 1 toll on Besraya and work out to be cheaper than KL-Seremban. The jam typically starts from after MidFields.
Now with the new highway from Jalan Cheras to Istana, sometimes Waze would advise to use that route instead, but it's not exactly on the way and the MRT construction makes Jalan Loke Yew (Tesco extra stretch) very congested also.

On the way back usually it's via East West link exit to MEX then MEX exit to KESAS and KESAS exit to KL Seremban highway. Besraya towards Kajang typically is very bad after palace of the golden horses due to cars trying to get to Sri Kembangan and Balakong at Mines exit. KL Seremban is clear after Sg Besi toll.

For Semenyih however, I'm not sure if the other Silk highway towards Cheras Batu 11 is better as I seldom use that side. As far as I know, the jam typically starts from ex-Phoenix plaza

Actually from say Setia Ecohill, even if using Silk highway, it takes about 20-25 minutes to reach my place at the moment because there is no direct link. With the direct exit to Lekas, I hope it can achieve the 10-15 minutes to Kajang.
Anyway, I once used Lekas/Silk in the morning to get to KL from Seremban. It's quite bad even at 7 in the morning. So although I'm vested, I really wouldn't be overly optimistic with the traffic. Esp when Seremban is also developing rapidly with people buying intending to live in Seremban but work in KL or Putajaya

My goodness..... Looks like u have to pass thru several bottlenecks (e.g. Th Mines, Connaught, Cheras Sentral, or Seremban-Sg Besi, Tun Razak) then only reaching KL town  notworthy.gif

If it rains in the evening, then no need to go back home cos the Smart Tunnel will close  rclxub.gif

Huh? Going to KL by Silk highway (Kajang-Uniten side) doesn't get Mines bottleneck. I don't use Connaught or Cheras Sentral either
I also don't use KL Seremban highway in the morning nor Tun Razak.

I don't think you really understand the route I plotted.
Anyway, what's the travel time from inner Puchong (say nearby Han Ming) to go to KL Sentral? Or inner Kota Damansara say Section 5 during peak hours?

I didnt mean to KL Sentral, but for those who work in KLCC  smile.gif

I think if one works in KLCC or Golden Triangle area, doesn't matter where you live, if you live >15km from CBD, driving there is a nightmare
Personally if I have to go to CBD during peak hours, the only solution is to leave house by 6.45am before the traffic build up in Smart tunnel. I can reach Westin Hotel within 1 hour when I leave at 6.45am. But when I leave at 7.15am, it took me 1.5hours

Bro, thanks for sharing.

If not mistaken, from Jalan Wan Siew, either you are using the north section silk that will lead you to Cheras Kajang Highway, which finally to Batu 11 (I presume you are not using this road), or you can pass through Sungai Ramal toll and then exit to Kuala Lumpur-Seremban highway. If you don't exit here, you can go straight until the interchange in front of UNITEN and cut into Jalan Sungai Besi which finally will lead you to the Mines, Besraya and all the way to Jalan Istana (I presume you are using this road). By the way the stretch from UNITEN interchange to UPM junction no jam during peak hour? Sometime the cars too much pack up in front of the UPM junction, until only the rightest lane can move.

Can you please kindly advise why you are not using the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban highway? Is it because Besraya is RM 1.30 while Kajang to Sungai Besi is RM 1.80 instead? Have you ever compared the severe of jam by using these two roads? I normally will go out KL-Seremban Highway, Kajang to Sungai Besi toll normally no problem, but straight after Sungai Besi Toll, and on the way go to Desa Petaling/Sri Petaling, traffic will pile up and jam all the way. Is it besraya will be less jam instead?

I can't really get how you back from office though, as it involves KESAS and MEX. Anyhow, as you use East West link, why not come out to KL-Seremban near the interchange in Desa Water Park? Jam? toll price?

From Semenyih actually can use the way you are using now as well. From Lekas then go into silk via Bukit Kajang toll, all the way to Sungai Ramal as well. If want go to Sungai Chua / Jalan Wan Siew, just exit before reaching Sungai Ramal toll, then go back to Sungai Chua via Kajang mewah / Pasaraya bintang. I consider it is quite direct already, only need about 15 minutes.

"Lekas/Silk in the morning to get to KL from Seremban. It's quite bad even at 7 in the morning" <- May I know which route you are using? Cheras 11?  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

Correct, I use Uniten side. Most of the time it's a bit slow traffic to reach uniten, and it's quite smooth thereon to go to Mines and beyond, until salak south garden where cars exit to Kuchai Lama.
Why I don't use KL Seremban? Simple, 1. the traffic light to go onto Kajang toll takes forever; 2. jam usually starts from Petronas station all the way to Jalan Istana. Besraya although further, is faster
On the way home, KL-Seremban is quite congested all the way up to Sg Besi toll, hence it's faster to use MEX from East West link and come out after MRR2 exit. But I supposed this is only temporary measure, when the interchange to Sri Kembangan open on MEX, MEX will be jam all the way from KLCC

I am using the way you described to go to/from Ecohill, but somehow the few traffic lights I've to pass after Silk/Lekas took forever. But it doesn't bother me as long as we are talking about Ecohill or EM since there'll be direct link

It was not congested/jam at 7 in the morning on Lekas/Silk, but it's very busy. So I'd imagine it would only get worse in 3 years time. Perhaps you should try it once on a normal working day. Then you will know what I mean. The busiest time on Silk towards Putrajaya is about 7.30am when the gov servants go to Putrajaya by 8am. By 8.30am that stretch will be quite smooth.

Thanks.

True, the traffic light goto Kajang toll normally takes 5 minutes, if already on the bridge, then normally I will wait. Every time green light turn on will have about 2 minutes for you to pass through, so it is still okay. Of course if you are already way far from the bridge, then it would be great to use the interchange in front of UNITEN. Pertronas station near to Desa Petaling?

Lekas/Silk will not have traffic lights. You gone through several traffic lights is because you need to go through the Semenyih town currently. Correct, once the Ecohill link is completed, you won't need to commute to the Semenyih town anymore.

I did, as last week I went to Technology Park Malaysia from Semenyih using LEKAS/silk. Normally will be reaching Sungai Chuah about 15 minutes, at around 8.05am, congestion only started after Sungai Ramal toll and as you said, many people is heading to Putrajaya during that time. Silk even open up additional lane in opposite direction heading to Putrajaya/Puchong, that's why you said can reach interchange near UNITEN with not much congestion. Normally I will go out to KL-Seremban, as our destination is different, though we are heading on about the same route.

Do you know that during peak hours the traffic light cars can queue up to where the shell station is? rclxub.gif
The Petronas I'm referring to is the one next to the new Standard Chartered building, the one very popular with McD, so yes, the jam starts there all the way to Jln Istana

But to be fair, everywhere about 25km radius from KLCC has bad traffic getting into KLCC. I guess Kajang is not too bad compared to people from Klang having to use KESAS highway to go to KL-Seremban and use Smart tunnel thereon
