QUOTE(msismail @ Mar 2 2014, 09:33 AM)
sure - I wanted to share it yesterday, but gosh, I missed my flight back to Kuantan!  doh.gif so, I slept on the benches at KLIA and got on the next flight yesterday...what an experience. hahaa...ok, enuf about me.

anywy, there were 5 candidates for Mechanical (Piping) position. They got 5 each for every other dept as well (MCI - I guess this is material corrosion, IC - instrument control and Mechanical (Static).

I was the last to get in, literally - 5:20pm  flex.gif  the HR and the interviewer kept apologizing for I had to wait that long - but definitely OK with me.

Since the session was running late, they kinda speed up things. there were 2 panels.

it was really a chit chat session at the beginning - relaxed mode.

then the real session started;  brows.gif

1. introduce urself - just about ur self, if u have working exp, just save it for later - there is a dedicated question along the way.
2. they will guide u with simple questions
3. technical part - they asked for what u actually do - how do u conduct/plan ur tasks
4. technical question - since my applied position is piping - the question was about piping; material, wall thickness calculation -

# ps: if u don't know or don't do anything they ask, just say NO. it's completely OK. like myself, I don't do wall thickness calc (since my job related to brownfield (modifications - no need to design new piping), so I just say no - but I took extra effort to prepare - tried to write but missed the formula by a component - they say, it's all good.  icon_rolleyes.gif

5. what code and standards u referred to - ASMEs, APIs, PTS ( at least mention basics one like 31.38.01.11 for general piping)
6. name projects that u've done - they'll jot down from there - not flipping thru ur cv - so remember ur projects by heart - name and briefly what it was about.
7. what is the pull/push factor for application
8. what is ur extra credit - mentioned things I do besides job scope - added value to the company - things like committees
9. ended with - last word from u.
10. they'll contact in 2 weeks time, if pass then move to SI.
11. now they r actually creating a pool of candidates - so, they'll rank everyone and offer them accordingly as time permits. so, just chillex.
All in all, it was a great experience. basically they'll ask basic things - at least things u do. not so technical, but more on concept.

feel free to ask more, since I think it's better if I ask what u want to know since I can keep rambling all day. hahahaa  thumbup.gif
pss: don't do this during interview - keep it short and simple and convincing. if u good at English, it's a big chance to nail it. just my observation.  rclxm9.gif

Question, PIPE (Petronas Induction Programme) is a must? Even for experience new recruit?

And, if I reject the offer. Does HR will blacklist our name?

Please advise. Thank you.
*
To confirm, pipe is a must for everyone.

Once you reject their offer, you'll be blacklisted.

May I know what position and which division did they offere?

Executive DCS, G2. Instrument/Maintenance Department. PCFSSB.
I'm quite uncomfortable with their offer. 6k+ for 5 years experience. doh.gif

Have u tried to revise? Since you will be stationed at Sabah you should earn more than that.

Guys, i passed the SI and the HR inform me through email i passed the interview after a week and subject to placement.

So far, it has been 2 weeks with no new news on my job position, pay and renumeration package. Should i ask the HR or wait for them to contact me. This is my first time dealing with the company so no idea how it works. I dont want to annoy or sound rude to them. I need to know the time to tender my resignation in my current company
*
You should call them. For your TA, which division interviewed you?

I believe current offer for Fresh Grads is 4k.

Called the HR again to appeal and nego the price. Now they're going to review again. I think it's hard to push the price though. sweat.gif

If really 6.2k, I think I will pass this. doh.gif
*
Bro, if the amount is more than 30% from your current salary should be good. I think they will not increase the amount after that.

Hey, I am in the same boat as the previous poster above. Who should I call, the HR or the Hiring Manager? I passed my SI and they called me countless of times since Feb to set a date. I set a date and change afterwards because they didn't reply and give me any confirmation.

So should I call them again? I haven't done the medical check up. They told me I got the position but now I am not sure anymore. Any advise would help. Thanks.
*
Same case, you should chase HR. Btw, mayI know what position and which division th eoffer you?

Now not every scholar got the chance for an SI. They've already screen based on final year results (at least this is for overseas scholar, not sure for UTP tho)

even if you have cable or know someone, you have to meet their criteria and pass all the interview stages.

It is really upon their planning. but just a few slots to mention:

1. during GRADUAN (in Melbourne) - yearly - not sure about other places
2. end of semester (local and abroad) - Scholars get direct invitation. non-scholar can always apply.

those 2 are for fresh-grads...

SI is a mandatory stage for new recruits. for experienced, there might be a Technical Assessment (TA) plus SI or str8 to SI - depends on position level and department.

from my experience for the past 2 months, they actually held SI for like every week. those are for the experienced who passed the TA in Feb/Mar.

tips: just fill up the discoverpetronas website n wait for the call. no high hopes eh... sweat.gif

Thanks for the infor.

Done with your SI? How was it? Mind to share your SI experience?
