Hi everyone,

I have been working with petronas since 2009 and i guess its time for me to share with you what little experience i have working with petronas.

I am blessed to be sponsored by petronas to pursue my degree overseas and currently serving my 10 year bonds.

As for the interview process, i went for my interview during my 3rd year in University in 2008. Went back to report for duty in end of Aug 2008, and got a position a week or two after that, and started my work with pipe a week after raya in oct 2009 with 3.5k starting salary.

After a year, started to get my 1k allowance (which currently being absorbed as basic salary after the adjusment). as mentioned somewhere in the thread previously, below 3 years, i didnt get any adjustment on my salary during the first salary adjusment in 2010. However, the annual increment as well as new salary grade restructure has been in my favor.

promoted to G2 end of 2012 (when they first introduce new salary grades) and now waiting for a G3 position next year.

i am working in upstream geoscience development division.

Feel free to ask me any questions especially regarding gng in petronas!

hi,

i would like to know whether Petronas is hiring remote sensing or GIS or geomatic graduates?
*
petronas do have a small geomatic sections under exploration division although most of what they do is monitoring data acquisitions done by other contractors, especially site survey. As petronas always keep hiring, and as always patient is key, i would suggest that you just submit your application and went with all the interview processes ( can be as quick as 2-3 month or even 1-2 year depending on job availability) and who knows, by the time you pass the interview, a vacancy might be there. good luck!

thx for the hospitality.
i've graduated with a bachelor's degree in geology. been applying to gng ever since but to no avail. had a year exp as of nw as a field specialist in SLB. is it actually hard to get into this particular segment. i mean it's not easy to enter petronas but could the vacancies for these positions are somehow not 'that' allocated for newbies like us. in fact, im more than happy to work in petronas in a way which my background could somehow relate to.
also. i've applied via discoverpetronas, drop resume via fair but i never called for interview. modified my resume countless times and resubmit. would i need to resubmit again such that the
"HR" could somehow note it.

very recently my sister got an offer from
petronas although she didnt accept it since the position is not what she want and currently have in a different company. she submitted her cv through the website and waited around 1-1.5 year before getting an interview. she did updated her cv a few times, ad i helped her cleaned up her resume lol. anyway, since they do get tonnes of resume each year, based on ur luck, u might get the interview earlier or later. u might need to wait a bit, a few of my friend also waited 1-2 year before getting an offer after their interview during their study. i guess all u can do is to keep trying and wait. btw, under 3 year exp, most likely u will be treated as fresh graduates.

as for positions, very recently, around 10 new fresh grads staff were hired in my dpt alone within 2-3 month. so they are hiring fresh grads. however, u do need to compete with utp, ukm, ums, usm, um, unk grads as well as overseas stud which most of them are also scholarship receipient. as long as you pass the interview, you will be in the pool for 2 year and will be offer a position as they are available

i'd applied 1-2years without a single call. i know how hr are overloaded with resumes. honestly, at least for me, it's not so much on the position i want, but to have a job to begin with and related to my background.
not sure if b4 this it was end of the year times and vacancies are scarce.. i read news of ppl unemployed since graduation in august.. losing my confidence as in am i that bad ?

Maybe another thing you can do is keep updating your applications, maybe make it clearer, more concise, have it proof read by someone. Im not sure whether it will help, but my sister did get a call a few month after I sit with her and help her to write a better CV. It is always a good practice to keep your application and CV updated every now and then with any new information anyway. good luck!

should i apply for internship to have a higher chance to be absorbed as staff ?
*
As far as i remember, at least with my department, most of our interns do get offered a job after they graduated, especially if they do well during their intern. So based on my limited experience, it might helped if you do get an intern position with Petronas.

Hi,

I just received an SI invitation from PETRONAS but the "Declaration Form" is missing from the email. I have an SI next week. It's CNY, most of the people are already on their leave already. Does anybody knows where to download them?
*
just email them saying it is missing, and im pretty sure u can fill it up later.
