Benefits will be a little bit less compare to permanent. Example, bonus might get or not, still depends. No guarantee even though you are receive a good rating. However, you need to do KPI same like permanent.

Quite difficult to convert to permanent as well, it is depends to your boss. Most of the time, they will just renew your contract.

Is the KPI hard to achieve? How do they evaluate and what's the worst that can happen if you fail the KPI? And do workers have better work life balance than private sector factoring in this KPI.

I had a really poor hiring experience with Petronas Digital for a Developer role.

The overall process took 6 months (too long) from chit chat to an offer, with the offer giving me a 10% paycut from my current salary and non negotiable offer. They must think people are really desperate to join them. 🙃

Senior role? Mind to share what's their salary range? or PM 😆

For a senior level role, I was informed Digital budget is not as high as other groups. For transparency I was offered RM8k during the offer. During my search when waiting for Them to come back (in the long 6 months) other companies were willing to offer 5 digit salaries.

Fyi this was >1 year ago. I already joined another company. 🙂

Oh I see, its a 2 year contract or permanent role? Direct Hire?

Did Petronas used to have a certain internal policy to prioritize a certain quota of Sarawakians to work in the company? During the Adenan Satem era.

Depends the urgency I guess, if the hiring manager has certain reason he needs you badly, usually more of Internal Policies like fulfilling certain headcount or ensure some "balance" in the department demographic (race, gender, age, etc) probably will move up your onboard process very swiftly. Either that or you have a certain "person of interest" value the higher management wants sure swiftly onboard you. Otherwise just like JPA enrolling civil servants will take their sweet time.
