Thanks bro! Any tips/overview about the working environment there? Is it easy to get along with other people?

Also, was it an order for you to relocate or you applied to change department to GTS?

Haha sorry for so many questions. Thanks in advanced for answering them bro!

PGB is a huge plant. based on my previous experience (used to be on consultnt side), people are OK. hahaha.... have fun riding. don't bother about how to get along, belasah jer...Terengganu people are nice, but pls dont get bitten yeah..ahaha

I'm hired by GTS. from day 1. i wish to transfer to Kerteh, but it's almost impossible. who knows...keep praying.

ps: it's not a dead town u know. i'm from there and i survived. ahaha.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Fresh grads usually are samseng jalanan. Giving them a post to sleep in Petronas can ensure they can have support during election. Like MAS is the best example, over manpower by 50% rclxub.gif
But, when a company are making money, they don't mind to have more employee sleeping inside laugh.gif

With all the retrenchment from major oil companies around the world like shell n schlumberger, i wonder y is petronas still hiring...

I hope they dun bankrupt this country just by hiring ppl who doesnt do anything in the company juz to fill in the quota

If need ppl, should hire those experience ppl who juz got retrench. Afterall, these experience ppl unlike freshies hv financial commitments already such as families, hse and cars
*
shell, slb are nothing like petronas. they r not from here (for eg). that's y u see many of their employees got retrenched.

it's not like one-to-one replacement. if they dont approach, how should one get hired? everyone is still subject to the guideline, assessment and interviews. not that easy. also, since they have been working for so many years, they should get things prepared (i.e got lots og money - kate kerja shell, slb)m unlike fresh grad who got nothing and try to get a loan for myvi pon sangkut.

just my toughts...

Fresh grad who never works for another company wouldnt know what bz is like or sleeping in company is like when u hv nothing to compare.

From friend's experience working in shell n petronas, he say eventhough shell hq is in miri and it is a small town yet they are busier than petronas which he is currently working at in klcc/dayabumi.

It has that kampung atmosphere. Very free. I hv fren working in petronas sabah. And he says petronas kl is nt as bz as sabah.

And i am assuming that ur a fresh grad who nvr works for any other company yet apart from intern?

The MAS situation is quite true...

But then again to the person who quoted me, i should seek out further info from frens who works in petronas. Afterall, one fren who had work in shell told me abt petronas current working environment.

I wanna see petronas high up there to compete wit the world top ong company but seem like petronas maybe losing its edge. Look at Sinopec, cnooc from china. A country with almost no oil n gas apart from the discovered shale gas. They r topping the charts by being top. Petronas?
*
ooo..okk...i'm working at dayabumi and u r right in some way. We are not as busy in the office because WE ARE OUT THERE, DOING WORK OUTSIDE OFFICE IN OPUs (Kerteh, Sabah, Miri, Gebeng, Segamat, offshore platforms...u name it). we got like 10s of projects and only weeks to get them done. we don't really tasted the "kampong"ness of chit chating, the cozyness of airconditiniong like some poeple might have overheard by someone else.... shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

I bet u do know that the number of retrenchment in msia in those stated companies are just a small percentage of their total worldwide retrenchment right? or r u so comfortable in ur own petronas world that u dun know what is happening around the world?  hmm.gif

Good to hear that ur bz in petronas tho. My fren working in sabah petronas is very bz too. From what he observe, kl petronas are not as free as sabah where engineers too have to work on weekends.

It is good to defend one's company, but as a msian, u do know that petronas does represent our country's brand. Looking at where it is heading and run, make me  fear that it gonna be worse someday... Just like MAS

Good thing we have Airasia.
*
Lol...comparing percentage with the real number? if 1000 is 1% worldwide, what is 1000 to malaysia and 1% to the world? hehee...being in petronas is not as dull as one shall think of. not going to drag even further here. but please dont be judgemental against anyone yeah. try learn to open up ur mind and be friendly.

it's not petronas fault or anyone else for that matter. it's a business that we are running here. there's risk and whatnots. so, it's not fair to make such a statement. do u see the current situation happens every now and then? no right? petronas is doing the best that it could to save country. an i'm sure that u r fully aware the the country rely on petronas right? if petronas goes bankrupt, it's a dead end which is never a good idea to think that it could be happening. be positive.

Just like 1MDB is doing its best for the country?

Just like MAS is doing its best for the country?

Just like how Proton is doing its best for the country?

I seriously dunno why u are stating the above that I bolded for u...

I am opening up my mind by questioning petronas hiring. One guy answered that though.

And what is friendliness got to do with my questionings?

means your name already booked in that position.

all that's left is for your head of dept to argue your case in the PDC Meeting, if all Management members agree then you're in.

If in PDC your name didn't go through, then it's up to your Manager. If he/she really wants you, then they'll argue your case again in the next PDC Meeting. Good Luck then  thumbup.gif

oh really? didnt know that. i tot PDC is for PPA exercise.

After 3 weeks since my day of employment with Petronas Penapisan Melaka, I feel my previous employment was a lot more better than now. Eventhough the salary is better, but I don't see the work life balance in Petronas. People are so inconsiderate and selfish, blaming game all over the place not to say the workload. Might be leaving soon.
*
i'm not in the position of judging anyone, but my advise and always be my belief for blaming is that; tell the truth. if u are on the right side, then u'll be fine. if u r wrong for any reason (lack of experience) so be it. learn something from it, treat it as a learning cycle (regardless of how many years during previous employment) and stand up/step up.

Previously, i've worked in a harsh environment as well, but i've survived by doing so. is sounds cliche, but is works.
As for work life balance, that charge of your own life. u can do it. i've lots of friends in PPM and they excel...good luck.

Just my 2 cents.

first couple of weeks at PET is not that bad. I've been assigned a mentor who is an expat and have 30 year + experience. People are so supportive even though they are so busy. The base/core knowledge that you need to cover based on ur skill group is properly outlined. Plenty of training provided and travels..

I heard some bad things about ACD, unfair evaluation, hard questions etc but so far it is okay here.
*
u r dem lucky!

for the ACD, fret not...i've attended the baseline last month and it was great! the trick is that, treat the assessment to gauge your competency, not for promotion.
