Boss..let say if were called by head of department for interview & not registered in petronas job portal. Direct interview, does the candidate still need to go through SI also? The candidate only have 1.5 years of experience working.
*
They will instruct you to register at petronasdiscover. Nothing to do with the SI invitation, The direct intrview is chit chat session. If recommended, then proceed to SI.

SI is for permanent hiring.

Yes, look like it. They have current running projects which required some experience people to work on their project. I have attend 2 interview, which the first with HOD and weeks after that with GM. Now waiting for approval from management. It really take a long process, for my case about 3 months now.

good on u!

hai kawan2 PETRONAS...

nak Tanya apa gaji ceiling grade E1
apa gaji entry grade E2 dan ceiling?
Pengalaman saya sebagai engineer lebih kurang 11 tahun... senior engineer kat luar sekarang...
terima kasih ya... sebab nak tenggok macam mana nego gaji...
*
yes, this is P&C. but to put in a percentage, expect about 25% top. 11 thn exp is senior level jugak in petronas. if u good, maybe boleh E3, who knows?

Hye there, I've been recommended for a position at one of petronas OPU in the past few months. However, in the last conversation with them, they told me that they dont have vacancy for me.. How could this happen? Why did they select people in the first place but at the end, they dont even have vacancy for us?
*
standard procedure. i'm sure that there's a line written in the recommendation email stating that this doesn't guarantee u a position. it simply means that u r worth hired but unfortunately not enough vacancies.

after an assessment (SI or TA or Chit Chat), all passed candidates shall be ranked accordingly. if say other people above u filled up the position, then perhaps that's the case. u'll be called up again if anyone rejects the offer or the management decides to open up more vacancies.

I am a Mechanical Eng graduate from Universiti Teknologi Petronas. Its been quite some time since I finished my studies but unfortunately I haven't even had a chance to go for any SI sad.gif.

It is really a tough time right now. However, some of my friends did get called for the SI and some even have passed it and waiting to report.

Where did I overlook during these times?

**I guess I am one of the unlucky ones out there. Just sharing what I feel personally.
*
it took me 4 yrs after i've graduated to get a call for a TA. i was a scholar and it was so happened that time, none of us (14pax) were not given an offer for SI. so, it's a normal case actually. just move on and open ur options to any companies/jobs first.

Normally scholars will be given priority, but cgpa does play a role as well, field of study (perhaps not an IT)....
*
probably. so sad talking about cgpa. i'm not a 3.85 scorer, but second class upper is not something to be overlooked.
in short, xde rezeki. nak buat mcmana..

Petronas scan their potential via si. there are cases that 3rd class outclassed 2nd upper degree holder. When this happened  they are recruited even they are with 3rd class status..
*
that's the thing. during my time, the SI has been cancelled due to H1N1 outbreak. so, mmg xde chance langsung.
anywy, just to share that anything could happen. scholar or non-scholar.

now already in petronas, 3jam SI. puas hati aku. ahaha rclxm9.gif

3 hours of si, case study, scanning mechanism, how max can u handle the given situation, 2 is so so, 3 is nice and 4 is outstanding.

This si record is kept in ur personal for future career succession, petronas is very structured.
*
my background is mechanical & piping. not sure u r point on the 2,3,4 thingy. But, if u were referring to the hours for SI, at least 2 hrs to get recommended.

In the case of my brother, he is a fresh grad.

As for core skills, I am not sure if my info is up to date but AFAIK, there are multiple skill groups in PETRONAS. Drilling Engineers belong to one SKG, Petroleum and Reservoir Engineers belongs to another, Geoscientists belongs to SKG-09, and Mechanical Engineers etc etc.

Previously there are Tiers for different SKGs. Drilling/PE/G&G belongs to Tier 1 so they get the highest skill group allowance and are on a different remuneration scheme (different increments/bonus etc) as compared to other tier groups etc. Again, I am not sure if this is till the case. Just letting you know the system before.

Hope that helps.
*
not sure about the core skill group, but last time i've checked with the HR, there shall be no such allowance anymore since it is already absorbed in the basic salary (don't have to wait until 1yr)

just got a call and email for me to provide them docs for SI. few questions for you guys:

1. i have experience in IT audit, but they offer me HR post. will the salary offered the same as fresh grad?

2. is it possible to reschedule time for SI later (as im currently working and still responsible on projects that i handle)?
*
1. experienced definition in Petronas is 3yrs and above.
2. yes, possible. i've postphoned 4 times. plus 2 times from HR side.

Sudah dapat email dr HR cakap status TA "Recommended".
Very efficient- 2 minggu plus lepas TA.

Tapi email did not mention anything about SI..huhuhu...

Otai otai boleh bagi advice what is next?
*
all recommended candidates for TA shall be ranked accordingly. u'll get the call for SI later (i.e the higher ranked candidates rejected the offer or more vacancies are available)

Hello I am being called by a headhunter for a TA with Petronas. It's a finance position. Can I know how does the TA works ? What kind of assessment or questions will they ask ?
*
u can go to any of my post and click this button "Show posts by this member only" on the top right side. I've written everything down.

btw, i'm in the engineering field. not sure how will be the finance be, tho. But a friend of mine, went for a TA for Treasury (under Finance), they asked on credit debit stuff also. so probably dig some small stuffs as well. good luck!

Hi seniors, I'm  a fresh grad and recently I went for Technical Assessment(TA) at PETRONAS Technical Services. Today I received a call from them telling me that they're preparing offer letter for me to be working as MSC Contract and I don't have to attend SI.

As far as I know, MSC contract worker is just for those who are working with PETRONAS's subcons but I asked HR and they said I'll be working for PETRONAS.

I'm a bit confused now, hope someone would clarify this matter.

Thanks.
*
I reckon u'll be hired under Contract basis right? Because SI is for permanent hiring. Try ask the HRM focal person (the one u've got the email from), whether u'll be absorbed later on? Because PTSSB is just a vehicle to get people on board faster. once there is an available box in petronas itself, they shall transfer u.

Have you seen cases where PETRONAS removed temporary junior staffs??

not to my experience (even before joining petronas). but at this point of time, given the oil price is plummeting, i'm really not sure.

Hi.
I just got email from Petronas HR inviting me to their Technical Assessment interview at Petronas Carigali Melaka for Mechanical Engineer position next week.
Appreciate if you guys could provide tips for me to prepare.
I have 3+ working experience but not related to O&G. I guess I am in fresh grad category?

Thanks in advance!
*
Hi there, just go to my previous2 post. i've posted about my TA and SI experiences.

Just wanna share my experience/situation

I did my SI November last year in London. Then got email ive passed my SI on Dec 14, and they told me to wait for the recruitment process.
Feb 15, I still didnt get any news,so i called HR but then he said need to wait a bit bc he needs to look for suitable placement. The same thing happened repeatedly i think i called HR like once in a month to ask about the placement, and the answer was still the same. wait wait and wait....and until now i still didnt get any feedback about offer in Petronas except "we're still looking for suitable placement please give us a bit more time".

Is there anyone out there with the same situation like me ? idk what else to say maybe my time hasnt come yet. nvrtheless i still hope i could start working in Petronas within this year. Wish me best guys thnks  happy.gif
*
Hi,

basically, that is part of the recruitment. They shall prepare a pool of recommended candidates so that when the time comes, those candidates shall be called up. I believe that in the email sent stating the SI results also there was a disclaimer saying that it is not a guarantee for u to be hired. It's painful, yes i can feel it. but, on the other side, it shows that u r a petronas material. so embrace that.

a lot are in the same boat. so, don't fret. when the time comes, u'll in.

it's been a tough period now and hiring is a tricky matter. all in all, best of luck~! wink.gif
