The Voomga platform’s latest release, “Omens”, is a browser based MMORPG developed for use on an exclusive game engine developed, in partnership, with international software giant Adobe. In “Omens”, following the main storyline is just one of many paths the player may take. The choice a player makes at each step of their journey decides the NPCs they will end up meeting, the stories they tell and the rewards they give.

The game’s backdrop provides players the chance to make their story unique. Set in a mystical, ancient period of Eastern history, a player must from the very beginning chose to align themselves with one of the three major houses struggling for dominance over a fractured kingdom.

Each story is different, but equal in its depth and breadth!

Voomga“Omens” Features Insider

Consider yourself an explorer, a treasure hunter? - The kind of player that wants to find their fortune out in the big wide world? Or are you more of a traditionalist - the kind of player that would prefer to earn their fortune from the safety of a warm home? Well, in Omens both of these things are possible. And, actually, these two paths might not be as different as you imagine.


The scenery of “Omens” is set firmly in the traditions and history of the East, in which the consideration of your ancestors is an incredibly important part of life. The wrath of an ancestor could be your misfortune, but so too couldthe generosity of an ancestor be the ultimate boon.



In “Omens” we’ve focused on the good part (mostly; beware!). Two of our features: “Treasure Hunting” and “Appeal” will allow the players to experience how generous our ancestors can really be.



The “Appeal” system centers on the premise of the player, in their family temple or ancestral hall, devoting objects to an ancestor as a means of showing them esteem and respect. A player may for example burn a bundle of ‘Incense’ in the ‘Incense Pot’. A gesture for which a player would supernaturally - but by no means unwelcomingly - a rather hefty quantity of silver and gold that cascades (beautifully rendered by our Adobe technology) down the screen. What a player devotes, and how muchof it,is what decides the quality of the rewards they will receive!



The “Treasure Hunting” system is the comparatively more indirect route to connecting with your ancestors. With the help of ancient maps and useful clues handed down by your ancestors, it allows the player the opportunity to search out and dig up ancestral relics and treasures (carelessly mislaid as much as carefully hidden – but don’t say that to them!).



Dig sites can be hotly contested, and even more so if an Ancestor Tomb is discovered! These tombs can reward players with additional rewards if they help defend the tomb against further disturbance or simply leave the ancestors in peace. The treasure hunting business can be tricky, but well worth the effort!

Pets in “Omens”


[Pet Training Paths]

What kind of pets are there, you ask? Well, we’ve got a great deal in the way of pet models, from wolves, monkeys, foxes, tigers, even dragons, and many more besides that. But what really sets “Omens” apart is that it provides players with a variety of paths over which their pets may develop. Few paths are ever the same; some pets will also evolve to have different appearances – some appearing holy and pristine, other grizzled and brutal. The environment will also affect the way in which the pet evolves. A pet’s AI is also unique, some pets being intelligent enough to make decisions for itself, defending or healing you when low on health, and attacking appropriate enemies when necessary, too.



The first pet all players receive is the “Pup”. When a player has accumulated sufficient Pet Eggs they will be able to attempt pet evolution. If the evolution proves completely successful, a “Pup” will transform into a “Silver Fox”; an unsuccessful, unsmooth evolution will result in the “Pup”turning into a “Tusked Boar” (unsuccessful evolutions can be caused by delayed or staggered completions, for example). While a‘unsmooth evolution’ still results a more powerful pet, they are not as powerful as they would have been if the evolution were smooth. Pets that have evolved smoothly also behaviorin a more intelligent way in battles.


[Pet Instances]

Our development team has been hard at work opening up Pet Instances. These special instances are unique to “Omens”allowing your pet the chance to participate in comprehensive training of its own. Your Pet’s AI alone will be sufficient enough to allow it to auto-combat through these instances, as well as being able to collect loot and perform necessary upgrades to itself. It doesn’t matter what level your pet is at, send it for a course of training in the pet instances and you’ll have yourself a powerful companion in no time.

Classes in “Omens”



In “Omens”, players choose a class for their character from the moment of its creation. There are In total three classes from which players may choose: the “Warrior”, the “Healer” and the “Archer”. Veterans of MMOs will probably be familiar with these archetypes, but it should be noted that all three classes are capable of pulling off some awesome DPS, though each is provided with class-unique functional and support capabilities. This will be expanded in the below passage:

【The Warrior】

The warrior is the master of sword and board - as capable of going in offense as they are in defense. They are said to be the keepers of the ancient arts of swordsmanship first practiced by the legendary Dark Emperor, from whom, it is also said, that all those who follow the call of the sword are directly descended from. The warrior practices his or her art in seeking peace and defending it.

In “Omens”, a warrior will be found in the thick of the action, closely combating enemies. Warriors benefit from the high survivability provided by their armor and innate robustness.



【The Healer】

The healer harnesses the vast powers of nature to preserve balance and protect life. With the proper training and dedication, the healer will be able to unleash the powers of nature against their enemies, damaging, ensnaring and binding them.

The healer participates in a fight from at range, firing off damaging spells, group support spells and crowd controlling spells.


【The Archer】

The archer is the expert marksman, capable of dropping enemies dead in their tracks with a single, well aimed shot. Even if an enemy were able to stand up against the fast, well aimed shots, he would find the archer more than capable at close range too. The arts of stealth and survival are known to all good archers, too.

The archers excels at long-range dps and has several very functional abilities that allow them to get the drop on an enemy!

‘Player versus Player’ in “Omens”



[Random PvP]
Whenever a player character comes across another player character of any one of the opposing factions whose PvP flag is also turned on that player may attack the other (excepting in safe zones, such as those in cities).

　　
[House Gladiator]
Before taking up arms to fight for the glory of your House, first you must prove yourself worthy of that cause. Random world PvP is one way to test the limits of your own skills, but to ensure you are sufficiently skilled to represent your house in the ‘House Wars’, players must prove their stuff in the ‘House Gladiator’ tournament.

Within this tournament, a player must prove themselves able to defeat a certain amount of other players within their House, and in doing so will earn their right to represent their House.


[House Wars]
The House Wars pits the champions of the House Gladiator tournaments against each other in teams representing their Houses. This is a contest in which there can only be one winner. Player participating in House Wars are automatically flagged for PvP and are far game for any other champion of the Houses. The House that acquires the most points through killing players of the Houses within the set period of the War will achieve victory (other objectives that award points include killing bosses).

There are various rewards for both participating in and winning House Wars, these include, in no particular order: experience, rare items, skills, and even access to a special event we’re working on (see below).


[Special PvP Events In Development]
As the victors of House Wars represent the very best champion the world has to offer, we’ll be offering them the opportunity to participate in an exclusive special event. The task of the champions in this event is not just to defend their House, but their whole world from a dark menace. The rewards for this event will be correspondingly epic and rare. “Omens”Instances Overview



Like the rest of the game, instances in Omens draw upon the settings and stories of the rich culture of Eastern antiquity. Players may explore in instances iconic settings such as the mist shrouded mountain retreat, the grand and imposing city palace, or the somber temple. Other instanced content includes legendary tournaments against the famous figures of the past and special, instanced scenarios that teach a player about the glorious and bloody mythology of the ancient East.


Opportunities are abound in “Omens” instances. A variety of different objectives are available to the player depending on what they enjoy more or how powerful they are - not just a single ‘clear everything’ objective.If you’re looking for a challenge there will always be one; if you’re looking to just explore that option (and many others!) is also open to you.


Our intelligent Adobe engine also allows a player to experience and battle in an instance that is constantly changing as you play it, adapting itself in response to your character getting stronger, for example. Or adding random boss mobs. These changes can be large or small, but always add to the experience.

“Gallantry” System in “Omens”



We’ve all had the frustrating experience of having trawled through a difficult instance, dying on several occasions, and consuming stacks of meds, to eventually defeat that tricky boss only to find you cannot even use the rare gear that it dropped. No doubt the experience of having bags filled to bursting with unwanted magical gear is just as annoying.

Well, in “Omens” we’ve added a system that allows to make the most of both of these type of situations and still improve your character in the process.



Gallantry

Gallantry is a system in which the player is able to ‘distill’ the magic present in unwanted gear (must be of at least green quality) into a form of character boosting gallantry ‘experience’. As this experiences accumulates, characters will progress through twenty-four stages that award progressively high boosts to the character’s HP, Ward and Armor. Higher level and rarer pieces of armor naturally provide more gallantry experience per distill.



This means that even if your character cannot benefit from an awesome piece of gear by equipping it, they can still benefit greatly from it through distilling. No need to throw it away, no need to go through the process of finding someone to buy it. And, also, don’t forget none of your old armor pieces need be wasted either! As you replace old armor, you can still squeeze out that last bit of improvement it had to offer through the gallantry system!

Graphical Splendor in “Omens”
“Omens”, Voomga’s latest, ‘Adobe’ Flash 11 powered browser game （see: http://omens.voomga.com/omens/main） will be available for open testing on the 28th November.



According to customer surveying in recent years players are reported to be most likely (67.3%) to be attracted to a game based on the quality of its graphics, and within this sample 61.4% would also be most likely to play if the graphics were 3D. In short, there has been overwhelming trend to lean towards games that are graphically superior.



In the past, high graphical standards were achievable through client based games, but at the cost of accessibility. Nowadays,however, technology like Unity3D 3.5, Flash11, HTML5 and others have made the surge in browser basedGames all the more possible. As technology, such as those mentioned above, have been able to reconcile the demand for graphical quality with greater accessibility, more and more players have been able to turntowards (and are reveling in) the opportunity to play games in the more accessible medium of the internet browser.



Blogger and former Mozilla employee, Rob Hawkes, has predicted that 2013 would be a significant transition year for browser based games, in which higher graphical qualitygames could be made and consequently result in an exponential increases in their popularity. With the strong demand for graphical quality already having established as an important prerequisite for gamer interest, browser-based game are now very much more ‘in the game’. The revolution in browser-based game graphics is supplemented by the traditional advantages of browser-based games over the client-based: the lack of a large download or cumbersome installation process, browser-based games

PvP Strategies in “Omens”



[Understanding Your Skills]
To make the best of the skills you use, first it is important you know what they do – are they single target or multi-target? Are they crowd controlling? How often can I use them? Or against which type of enemy would they be effective or ineffective?
Placing your skills in your skills quickbar is also essential – it will allow quick, easy casting of your skills with only a single click of a keyboard key.



[Using Your Special Skills]
A player’s Stellar Skills can be the deciding factor in any battle. Using a Stellar Skill at the right moment is a surefire way to earn victory. Always be aware of how many Stellar Points (acquired from killing monsters) you character has, as they are required to use your Stellar Skills. Going into battle without Stellar Points could literally be fatal!



[Using Your Wings]
Some people say the best defense is a good offense; others that a good offense is a good defense. Of course, this depends on your personal play style. It also depends very much on the class you play. A warrior, for example, benefits from a proportionally higher defense compared with, say, the Archer, who would usually have a higher attack. But what if you were an Archer and wanted to be more tanky? Well, Wings provides players with the option to focus their characters development along the path the player desires. Want more defense? Set your Wings to develop along a defensive path. Want more evasive or stealthy attributes? Set your wings to that, then.



What’s more is that certain types of Wings also provide unique skills. For example, Wings of Triumph provide the player with ‘stealthy’ skills. This allows the players to augment skills already associated with the class, or perhaps add new skills to a character ‘s repertoire of skills.

The Wings System in“Omens”

With the release of Voomga 2013’s ”Omens” only eight days away now, we’ve had the opportunity to look into it’s fantastic Wings system.



[Accessory and Tool]
Wings provide players with a versatile tool of mobility. Using their Wings, players may fly, may sprint, and when they’ve found that perfect spot, say, perched high above a waterfall, or next to some tranquil lake, they may land and meditate.



[Not Just Aesthetic]
No two pairs of Wings will ever be the same. Wings provides players with the option to focus their charactersdevelopment along the path the player desires. Want more defense? Set your Wings to developalong a defensive path. Want more evasive or stealthy attributes? Then you may set your wings to that. This is of course in addition to the aesthetic changes your Wings will got through, from the spectacular Wings of Magic, to the demonic Wings of Darkness, the ethereal Wings of Rebirth, or the blazing Wings of Dawn.



[Aspect Soul]
The gift of the Gods, Wings are naturally imbued with more than just everyday power. Locked away inside your Wings are the power of the four powerful elemental aspects: Green Serpent, Red Crane, White Tiger and Black Torta. On your travels in the world of “Omens”, an adventurer might come across Aspect Shards, which when combined, can be used to unlock a small measure of the power of these Aspects. Each Aspect provides different kinds of boost, bonuses and power.

“Omens” Continued Feature Spotlight
With the opening beta testing only days away, we continue with our series of feature spotlights on some of the many exciting features our players can look forward to in “Omens”.



Spotlight 1: Stellar Skills

Stellar Skills are incredibly important to all characters. They can be used by a player to defeat monsters or clear instances of a strength or a difficulty they usually would be unable to. They come in four stages of increasing power. Each stage provides unique effects, aesthetically and functionally.

The mythical setting of “Omens” provides the context in which we look at our first spotlight feature: Stellar Skills. This very special type of skill traces its creation to the Gods themselves and, one point were, in fact, used by their supernatural creators. Knowledge of these skills was passed into the world of mortals through an unfortunate combination of misdeed, misadventure and carelessness. First stolen from the Gods by their enemies, the Stellar Skills were used to do evil. Only the carelessness of these criminals was their undoing. The skills not long after passed into the hands of yet more malign entities. Soon, the skills had been scattered far and wide, held by all manner of monster and villain. By an ironic and fortuitous twist of fate, it was the lawful, peace loving beings of the mortal world that were next to discover the secret of the Stellar Skills. Their efforts towards removing these villains from the land led to their rediscovery and re-appropriation. Your character is one of those people. Through fighting monster in game, you will be able to uncover further knowledge of the Stellar Skill.



Spotlight 2: Mythos

The Mythos function is uniquely charming feature through which players are able to participate in major events from Eastern mythology. Fighting with some of the most awesome, witty, and entertaining figures of the mythology against some of its most depraved, malign, evil figures. This is a feature rich in lore that also provides your character with the means to further improve itself.



Spotlight 3: Innate Training

A warrior must be trained in the mind, in the body, in their virtue, and most especially in their spirit. In “Omens”, every character is able to pursue their development in these areas through the four ‘Innate Training’ systems of Vigor, Demeanor, Gallantry and Talent. Which area you train is completely up to the player, you may train in one, all four, or none at all, if you wish. The method of training in each area is different: depending on the time and resources available to the player, training in one area may be quicker, or more desirable than another. Despite this, each area of training provides definite boosts to the ability and power of your character.

“Omens” Continued Feature Spotlight

With the opening of beta testing only days away, we continue with our series of feature spotlights on some of the (many) exciting features our players can look forward to in “Omens”.



Spotlight 4: Learning
An understanding of the cosmos is the apex of knowledge, and with it comes considerable power. In “Omens” the struggle to understand the complexity of the world is achieved through ‘Meditation’. ‘Meditation’ is an action that can be taken anytime, in any place, for any length of time. Your character enters a pensive state during which it will acquire a steady flow of experience, as well as other gains. The great thing is that Meditation can continue indefinitely, even when you’re not at the computer.



Spotlight 5: Chance Meet

This is a system which will help bring you and your character close to other players in the game. It is invaluable as a means of making friends and enlisting the help of allies. How it works is that the game systems will often places markers on your map, marking the location of another player whom it might be worth talking to or asking for help. It’s a way of getting people to talk to each other first and foremost, but also allows the mutual exchange of blessings and even money. Spotlight 6: Essence and Derive

With this feature the player is able to ‘Derive’ the ‘Essences’ of nature and ‘Seal’ them into slots corresponding to your gear slots (one spirit per slot; you do not need gear to be equipped in that slot). ‘Essences’ come in different qualities (white, green, blue, purple, orange, gold) providing one bonus to a certain attribute. Attributes tend towards increases to HP/Mana, Magical / Physical defense, or Magical / Physical attack. Bonus increases with quality. Deriving essences requires progressing through a five step sequence. Siphoning is always successful (a player will always receive something no matter which step they are on). Players have the option to fuse lower level essences into high level essences as a means of further increasing the power of the higher-level essence.

“Omens” Lost Treasure Instance

They say with money you can do anything. We’re not sure we agree with that completely, but one thing is for sure: you’d be a fool not to pay tribute to the God of Wealth every now and again. In “Omens” having the God of Wealth on your side is a great boon to your development; for one thing it makes available to you the ‘Lost Treasure’ instance, which shall be the topic of this small article.



The Lost Treasure instance is accessible only to those who hold favor with the God of Wealth. It is essentially a hidden vault containing a wealth of gold and silver, guarded by powerful monsters and overseen by the God of Wealth himself. A player must be at least level 25 before attempting to enter.



Once inside the instance, the player must defeat four Guardian Beasts to be able to advance to the next section of the Vault. (This is the only way to advance, so if you find yourself hitting a brick wall in advancement it is best to leave the instance and train up a bit more before returning.) Each Guardian Beast defeated awards currency and EXP. The further a player progresses into the vault the greater the currency and EXP rewards. Completion of the entire instance will award a great deal of currency, EXP and mysterious rewards.



Upon leaving the ‘Lost Treasure’ instance (whether cleared completely or not), a player is awarded all currency and EXP they have accrued. Additionally, a full clear of the instance allows player the opportunity to spin a fortune wheel, which can award further currency and EXP, as well as other rare rewards. What those rewards are you will have to find out for yourself.

Today we also look at the Sealed Tower instance. A structure from which malevolence seems to seep from every brick, the Sealed Tower is in “Omens” the ultimate test of a player’s skill. It offers players the opportunity to truly show off their stuff – to have their name revered and to earn some awesome rewards in the process.



The Sealed Tower stands among some of the oldest structures in the world. Some say it predates the world itself. It was created by the Gods, according to legend, for only one reason: to keep things in and never let them out. Imprisoned inside the Tower, it is said, are some of the most vicious, evil and dangerous beings that have ever existed. To the eternal shame of the Gods who conceived them, this tower forever stands as a reminder of their failure and hubris.



Of the Tower, more is known about its structure than anything else. It rises into the sky to a height of eighty levels, connected at intervals of ten levels by immense staircases that travel so far up that bottom or top is never simultaneously visible.

Of what lies inside, hearsay and myth colors whatinformation is available, as none have returned to tell the story of what they found inside. But it is believed that life inside the tower, even for those powerful beings that were put there, can be fleeting and brutal, and that survival there requires constant adaptation and vigilance. Yet it is also said that within the chaotic world of the Tower new beings have been born, refined in their deadliness and viciousness.



Each level of the Tower is inhabited by a Chief and its horde. To even think of moving to a higher levelan adventurer would be required to clear from his or her path all other monsters, themselves consumed by an avarice, though not for glory, but for the promise of the riches of the higher levels. It seems only reasonable to assume that if great treasure is to be found in the higher levels that it will be guarded only by the most powerful of monsters.

And so the challenger of the Sealed Tower must keep in mind these essential rules:
Each level must be cleared completely of every monster to move to the next.
They must be able to do it within a certain time frame.
To be able to choose from which level they start or to which level they return the
adventurer must be able to clear out all ten levels of that staircase.



The Sealed Tower is a challenge that will require the greatest level of dedication, but it offers rewards unmatched in any other instance in the game, a great deal of prestige and the satisfaction of an epic labor being completed.

Today we talk about the Sealed Tower in Omens.
Want to upgrade your wings and gear? Come to Sealed Tower! Challenge Sealed Tower to obtain Rare Feather, Kind Orb, Learning Charm, other rare items, EXP and Silver!



In Sealed Tower, you can pick up from where you left off. You don’t need to start from the first floor, but rather the highest floor you reached. Every 10 floors make 1 stage. Complete all 10 and you can choose to challenge the stage BOSS right away next time you come to the tower. If you have your eyes on particular BOSS items, go for it. If you plan to collect gear, and have ample time and bag space, start from the beginning.



The higher you climb up the tower, the tougher the fight gets. Not only will the monster’s level and power grow, but also each floor BOSS’ power can be twice its precedent’s. For example, L17 Floor BOSS, Stout Captain only has about 80000 HP, and mid-level skills. Players with 6400 power can easily defeat it. But the L19 Floor BOSS has more than 140,000 HP and fierce ATK skills. If your power is lower than 10,000, you will need great finesse to survive its attack. So, our recommendation is to grow your Gallantry and Essence while challenging Sealed Tower to keep you ready for the next challenge.



Many choose to auto-combat in Sealed Tower. But if you have ample time, we truly suggest you choose to fight manually, so you can defend yourself better in combat. And you may find yourself completing floors faster. And the faster you clear a floor, the more EXP you get.

Sealed Tower tests your speed and power. Read the power and clear time info for each floor and adjust your strategy. Make sure you obtain the most rewards at the least cost.
